Horn not broadcasted to other players?
slay0rwr4th replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
this sounds pretty cool, I had no idea that it was a missing feature haha. no reload animations either? I don't spend enough time watching other players to have noticed that one. As far as CarlGustaffa's response, anyone else had a similar problem? or is it ACE related maybe? -
New Beta Build 70951 is up!
slay0rwr4th replied to maddogx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
this beta is intermittent for me. my first error is No entry '.profilePathDefault'. Once I click ok the game continues to load, almost as soon as it enters fullscreen mode it CTD's with an always unhelpful "ARMA 2 has stopped working, windows is looking for a solution to this problem". So, I've tried compatitiblity mode (I'm running Vista Home 32 bit) with no difference, administrator mode with no difference. The last beta worked great, I'm going to try and reinstall it now and see if the problem goes away. ** Nevermind, Apparently I had a dodgy shortcut on the desktop... I'm in :) ** -
AddonSync2009 (downloader, launcher)
slay0rwr4th replied to Yoma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi guys, I've used this tool before, for some reason I can't find it anymore (been having lots of trouble with vista lately, If an OS were a physical thing, I'd be jamming it piece by piece up bill gates ass) I've tried the address Yoma has in his signature (http://dev-heaven.net/projects/show/yoma-addonsync2009) and get this error through google chrome (tried IE to no avail, haven't tried firefox because I know the answer) Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error. I also tried Armaholic, which is where I originally downloaded AddonSync from and that link is "dead" too. Not sure if it's my ISP / PC etc causing this (it has happened before, and recently too when trying to get study material for Carrara 6 pro, the website owner checked the site and it worked fine... later on it did for me too.... weird huh) Is there a link I don't know about, or am not seeing? **Going to try connecting in linux in case it's me** Dev-heaven.net is down haha no wonder. -
New Beta Build 70709 is up!
slay0rwr4th replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I'm yet to try gamerOSD from ASUS (not sure if it'll work on this comp as it's not an ASUS Board) but that program was generally very reliable (imo). -

New Beta Build 70709 is up!
slay0rwr4th replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Well, I tried the demo, and got about 5 fps as an average, when I bought the game and with the latest official patch, I was getting a 5-15 average, and online play wasn't much better, with this beta (i tried the one just before this for only an hour and it was much improved) things are much, much more acceptable, I had no crashes, I did have some weirdness with warfare mode (games.on.net i think) but nothing that made it unplayable. It's really starting to come to the point where it feels stable and comfortable fps wise (imo obviously) I'm running an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz Processor (E8400), 3gb of ram, and (my weakest point) an Nvidia 8600GT (512mb) and was getting about 20-40 as an average (online - warfare mode), now I'm used to owning p.o.s computers and struggling along at 5-10 fps single player, so being able to play ARMA II online, including lag, and my ISP being a bastard sometimes, and still getting roughly 30 had me grinning yesterday. ---------- Post added at 09:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 AM ---------- I just noticed I have the same processor as Ringhejm, I'm going to try and record some footage with fraps... ---------- Post added at 10:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 AM ---------- yeah I'm getting a similair problem too, no matter what graphics settings it slows to a stop, then speeds for a second or so, then stops, and repeats If I can figure out how the youtube embed works I made a vid for you guys, I don't expect you to fix it, just find it strange. -
Zombies. PLEASE if you can make this.
slay0rwr4th replied to thedudesam's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Ooold post by the look of it, but there's been interesting debate all over about zombies, it's a shame about the AI, if it could be taken advantage of you could have zombies in the woods at night time, waiting for one of you to get seperated from your team because you saw a "shadow" and thought you were being flanked, next thing you know there's 10 around you and you're on your own... it's a shame we couldn't take advantage of the medic pose in some way, (make it look like they pull you down and start biting you to death) so if one gets close enough, it's just over... (death screen) (maybe timed, 10 seconds for your mates to get it off etc..) The "Viral" zombie Idea is cool too, your in on a random OP, a bomb goes off somewhere on the island, some weird reports from HQ, then just screaming and moaning over the radio... you end up ditching it coz it weirds you out... you drive to the local town, and there are weird sights everywhere, crashed cars, housefires, (general destruction in most places) like the people have gone... nuts... but there are none... could be multi choice... head back to hq, find out what happened, stick around the town and try and figure out where everyone is (night time becomes a run for your life, but where can you go?) and so on... Why you're not infected, and won't become infected aren't all that important.. and can be explained away with some random drug you had to take before you entered the area, of course you weren't told why it was important, maybe one of your crew didn't take it... and you find in the first night he turns... maybe fires on you (though wildly innacurate) and destroys your vehicle. The scare of zombies is you can't kill them all (too many, not enough ammo, etc and so on, too much movement to effectively headshot so many while constantly maintaining cover/retreating), headshots should be all that does it. and as someone mentioned, without being able to blow limbs off, and watch the bastards crawling at you relentlessly the atmosphere will be ... off. the crowds should be huge and relentless (relative to population size) and whether fast or slow, when they begin chasing, they never stop following. You character however, can collapse from carrying too much weight (thanks ACE), CAN need food, and water, and maybe medical attention (keep that corpsman alive and maintain finding him supplies too) if you find a vehicle that they haven't destroyed, it's going to need fuel, repairs. It's a shame about the limitations, I don't even know or understand fully what they all are, I'd like to move into learning these things in the future. I've started on vertex modelling, texturing etc, I'm interested in creating game content, I'm also interested in composing music for games, these kind of topics get me excited so I'm sorry if I've just raved like a rabid animal! :) -
Hi guys, I bought a copy of ARMA II (DVD Copy) From my like Electronics Boutique (Hastings, Victoria, Australia) and after being online the last couple days and suffering a few (as far as i can tell) vista related bugs, nothing I'm too worried about but it was something today that had me startled. I logged into games.on.net Arma2 #1 NO ace which is where i'd focused my attention, and after people requested a restart, then waiting a while, then spawning us, then restarting again, i got spawned as a bird.... this happened a couple times, and both times I had to quit the game and log back in, I'm wondering (without any technical info here..) if it's a bug? if anyones heard of it? I'm sorry if this should be posted related to the MP mode they are using (Warfare BE V2.057 Lite) but I don't wanna screw around with fade and wreck a perfectly good game. I'm "speed limited" internet wise at the moment, normally at near 2mb/s but past my download cap.. running an Intel dualcore 8400GS at 3.0ghz, 3gb ram and an Nvidia 8600GT 512mb VRAM I dont want to say "someone hacked me" because I've only played it online yesterday and today... there's no way... it's just being funny... ---------- Post added at 09:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 PM ---------- I found this at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1219543.html and get none of the rest of it, just the being turned into a bird thing, hell is it just "civilian" or "spectator" mode for warfare? "feddy writes... BTW what is fade Fade is a copy protection system that causes the game to act strangely when it detects cracks and/or invalid serials. Stops you from aiming, messes with controls, drops all graphic settings to low etc. Basically makes the game un-playable.

Fade Protection acting bizarrely?

Fade Protection acting bizarrely?
slay0rwr4th replied to slay0rwr4th's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
yeah I had a bit of a fly second time around, thought it'd be a great way to TS locations of enemies to allies.... can you set servers to kick people that turn into birds? I've seen a kick duplicates option, but in my case it wouldn't kick me as i wouldn't show as a duplicate. -

Phew good news :D -
awesome, I'd like to see my copy of Linux Mint 8 Run it :D, after reading, is it not happening?, might try using playonlinux again soon, got to starting screen with demo but everything was semi transparent squares, no writing, nothing was clickable etc. Games coming with their own OS? one pro would be an "Xbox-esque" speed increase to your computer. other than that it's too much work? it's a cool idea though for games like ARMA, ARMA II, screw even having a proper OS, just load straight into the world with an ESC menu and an m4a1... your internet connection working blindly in the background (good old linux) without any work... maybe have a ~ command line option for advanced users, and everything is reflected in the ESC menu for those scared of deeper editing. It would seem smarter for there to be a Linux distro built solely for games, it's mission statement being to crack a true directx alternative? - I have linux mint installed and it's great, but there are far better ones...
