  1. A friend of mine (with whom I have played ofp a lot of times lol) is also about to buy a new pc (unlike me, not a laptop but a pc) to run arma 2. These are the specs: Intel Processor Core i5-680, s1156 (dual core, 3,6 Ghz) 2TB hard disk drive 6GB DDR3 RAM ATI 69(something? he didn't tell me exact..) 1GB graphics card Now how do you all think Arma 2 will run on this pc?
  2. Thanks! I'll go for a laptop with an i7 cpu I think (or: I am sure), since yeah, the i5 CPUs in laptops are dual core, while for example the i7 740QM is quad core. I actually assumed all the time that i5 and higher were all quad cores, but fortunately your posts showed me otherwise. In one way, this makes the search for a good laptop way easier since now I automatically get to choose from high-end laptops only, lol.
  3. Thanks. I will have to find a laptop with that kind of cpu, although fortunately a lot of them have the i5. By the way, did I understand correctly from a previous post in this topic that the i5 is better for gaming than the i7?
  4. Now I am wondering.. What is a better choice: a quad-core AMD cpu like the AMD Phenom X4 X920, or an Intel i5 cpu with for example 2,4 or 2,53 GHz? Will this make a significant difference?
  5. Hi all, I am about to buy a new laptop so I can finally run Arma 2. Now my question is, will this laptop be able to run arma 2 just fine? Specs: CPU: AMD Phenom X4 X920 2,3Ghz (quad-core) RAM: 6 GB Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 2GB I am pretty sure this should run it very well, but I am still asking just to make sure..

    Error messages for no reason

@Zulu1 Thanks for your reply. I'll try that resetting of my DirectX if I get that problem again, but fortunately, after I made my first post, I added a few addons, and I was able to play OFP again - with sound. But that lack of sound, I really wouldn't know how it could have anything to do with a particular addon or with a combination of them - since I had no sound, I added some addons (didn't delete any) and my sound came back. Strange thing though ;) Anyway, I am glad OFP works again =)

    Error messages for no reason

Hi all, I am not sure what it is, but OFP is acting quite strange since yesterday. When I add or remove an addon, one of these things happen: - I can't start OFP, I get the message "DX 8 required" (while I have DirectX 9) - I can't start OFP, I get the message that my video card couldn't go full screen or something like that (this didn't happen that much though) - I can start OFP, but I have no sound. And what I think of as quite strange, is: it's all a matter of coincidence really. Because, it goes like this: I add an addon, OFP starts, but I don't have sound. So I remove an addon I don't really like, OFP doesn't start, "DX 8 required", I add another addon, same message, I add another addon, no sound, another addon, same message, another addon and OFP works. This is just an example, it's not like it's always the same though, but it's a bit like this. Frankly, I find it quite annoying. Since I just want to play OFP, but now when I add something or remove something I have to do like 15 minutes or more of hocus pocus with adding and removing addons in order to be able to start OFP with sound. Could anybody tell me why I am having this problem and what I can do about it? And there's another thing, but that doesn't really bother me: sometimes when I start OFP, the screen gets all, uhm, mixed up. It's like OFP is jumping up and down and what should be on the right is taking a jumpy walk to the left and vice versa (I wouldn't know another way to explain it =p). But fortunately, when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del to return to my desktop, and then I go back to OFP, it's all fine again. This last things has nothing to do with addons, it's just sometimes I have the problem and sometimes I don't. I have an NVidia GeForce2 with 64MB memory graphics card, 512MB RAM, and a 1,7GHz CPU so my pc shouldn't be the problem. I hope anyone of you can help me out. Thanks already.

Having patrols and convoys moving without stop..

Thanks! I get it now =)
  9. Good evening everyone, I've got a small question, probably quite easy to do, but I just don't know how (yet): let's say I have a platoon and I want them to patrol a certain area. How do I do this? I can give them a lot of "Move" waypoints of course, but that's no solution: it doesn't look nice in the editor and sometime they'll stop patrolling. So how exactly do I get a platoon to patrol a certain area again and again and again? Then, there's another thing. I don't like to do one single mission and then quit, I rather have a lot of things to do, like free the whole island, so that it is a real challenge. Now, I really like to ambush convoys. So let's say I want to do this: I want to conquer, let's say, 4 cities, and I want to attack 3 convoys. Then I have the chance that the convoy has stopped by the time I get there =p So isn't there a way I can just have a convoy moving from A to B and then back from B to A and ...... go on that way? =) Thanks already! Hosting a multiplayer game

Thanks, as a matter of fact I do still have this problem. I also checker other things, like whether my friend had an older version than 1.96 but that wasn't the case. We were both using Sockets, so that was the problem either. But what I am curious about, is: why? Why do some people have this problem? (like me =p)

    Hosting a multiplayer game

Okay, thank you! I guess it will work out well now =) If not, I'll post it here =p But I don't think that'll be necessary.

    Hosting a multiplayer game

Thank you, Zulu1 =) Yes, my friend did choose "New", so he was a host actually. But now what surprises me is this: I asked his IP adress (via a Dutch website he found it, www.ipee.nl), and he gave it to me. Now I did choose remote, too. And then I copied his IP adress. But the only thing that happened was that the list disappeared, and nothing new appeared... Should I perhaps have waited a little longer or something like that? =) Best regards, Abdul-Fattah

    Hosting a multiplayer game

Hi all, and because being polite could just be essential in my first post: good evening everyone, Today, a friend and me had planned to play OFP online together. Our favorite game you see. Now, he created a nice mission: we had to conquer a town, defeat a convoy with reinforcements, if necessary, we had to take new weapons or ammunition since the convoy was carrying weapons and ammo too, then we had to free two towns et cetera. So, the mission was created, saved as a multiplayer mission, and then this friend of mine went to the main screen, chose Multiplayer, then selected the right map and the mission, and proceeded to the screen where you can choose sides. I went to Multiplayer, and searched the whole list of servers over and over again, but I could not find him. Does anyone have any idea why this is so and how we can fix this problem? Best regards, Abdul-Fattah
