  1. I have an idea for an AI group, of say 4 men, BLUFOR. This squad is a kind of CIA or false flag squad, spreading propoganda etc. The effect I am looking for is that the AI group will change the relationship between OPFOR and the civilian population. I see three options to represent this. a) the squad kills change the relationship rating to a negative between the OPFOR and the Civilians, b) the presence of the squad in civilian areas (among crowds?) increases the chance for a civilian to turn renegade and thus effectively act in opposition to OPFOR. c) the unit (AI if possible) can have the ability "turn" captured civilians or enemy soldiers to renegades. I want the squad to be the only squad on BLUFOR to have this effect, I do not want the entire BLUFOR to have a relationship status change. Another option I am assuming it will involve addRating or HandleRating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Since I am new to Arma, I have been scouting around for British add-ons and have come across all kinds of variations and complicated bits and bobs. Most of these are scattered in different places, different forums and there seems to be some confusion (not only with me) about what is available. There are also some differing ideas about what is the 'best' variant. So to make things clearer, I thought I would ask you the community to help me make an ultimate community mod pack of British units. There are some commonly requested vehicles for instance that although do not exist yet, we do know that we have some in common with US equipment, such as Apaches, Harriers, Hercules etc and these would help to fill out a UK roster as placeholders until teams such as PUKF or RKSL produce British versions. So I recommend we work on different categories and fill these up as we go. I will take suggestions and return to the opening post to edit and keep it updated with your recommendations. 3. I am currently working with audio to make voice clips for combat, commands and responses, I even have soundbytes that can be used for training missions, modded missions etc. I also have a selection of decent military band music that is relevant and atmospheric. I have very good high level equipment and programmes, as well as musical editting and production experience. I will be posting and updating some of my selections as I go on, right now I am just scouting for feedback. I will be interested to see what the community thinks of my ideas though. So stay tuned. What I need is someone to help transfer these audio via coding, overview the lipsync and so on. Basically a decent modder to complete the partnership. If you are interested and can help, please email me at [email protected] Please NO KIDS or TIMEWASTERS. Let's get it done!

    Paradop in combat?

Sounds like the fighting units are blocking disembarkation some how
  5. I'm about to get an iMac 27" (I will be playing my Arma2 through the bootcamp windows compartment of the Mac). But having spoken with guys here and other places some reckon that the specs are not really that great. Can someone confirm this? (I have no idea about computers really). The iMac is expensive but since my household already has some Apple stuff, I can get the iMac on credit without having to pay extra every month (just paying it off longer), so I am more inclined to get this iMac than a supermachine PC that I build myself. I know that a Mac is overpriced compared to a PC but the payment options allows me to get a Mac right now. But am I going to be able to play a future Arma 3 on it? 27" 3.06HZ intel core2duo radeon HD 4670 256MB
  6. Shame, still I see what you are saying, no matter -this project is incredible and the quality of your team's work is about as high as it gets. Looking forward to seeing what you produce guys, and good luck!

    British 3 Para

Yepp Tigerhund, as I said, I agree. But there are missions that could allow for berets, such as during insurrections or ambushes. There are situations when UKF will find themselves under fire whilst wearing a beret. Besides you don't think the majority of coop games are exactly that- social patrols?! In that sense the fun value is important. There are a lot of clans right now that are using UKF add-ons with camos that do not suit the terrain (woodland DPMs in desert terrain and vice versa) but they so want to play using UK add-ons they ignore the hardcore realism and have fun. It is the same with wanting berets for paras and RM, lids which are such strong aspects of those corps' identities. If there was a choice available to clans of a purely genuine combat dress unit and patrol dress (beret) they would still use the beret a great deal.

    British 3 Para

Yep I agree totally, but both units do perform patrols with berets on quite regularly. I admit I am only interested in fluff cool factor of course rather than realism... but for the record, they are worn. Often go bareheaded too actually for some reason.
  9. Just out of interest, how long does it take a human being to make a map 24000km2?

    Ghost Recon Maps

GR missions were not that good tbh. I think it would be just yet another unrealistic mission in an unrealistic area of operation. Getting proper tired with a lack of realism tbh
  11. Looks incredible, much needed add-on too. Have you any plans to include Airborne and Naval Infantry units? Personally I think some naval infantry in ceremonial uniform would look good to place in missions where you need a harbour garrison to go along with Russian submarines etc

    British 3 Para

I wasn't dissing him, this is fantastic. To answer your question, no but they do actually deploy and patrol with the berets on occasion, and during the Falklands at least they did actually operate with them too. Due to the colour RM tend to get away with wearing them more often, and historically it was very common for the RM to do so such as at the Suez in '56 and the Limbang raid in '62.

Nice one Schancks, this was REALLY needed. SHame there isn't a maroon beret version though, also the 16 Brigade badge/Pegasus should really be there http://www.geraldhowarth.org.uk/files/upld-news63thumbnail

    Design a computer...

I'm aware you need windows on the mac to run pc games, well aware of it, was never in question... but still I reckon Mac must have some value. RE: my original post Very few of you have ANYTHING positive to say about Macs at all

    Design a computer...

I dunno herbal, Macs are still kind of relevant. Although the whole discussion did spiral out lol For me though, the iMac is definitely a consideration since I could never have the knowhow to design my own PC, I would always go for something I thought was going to do the job for me if you know what I mean. I wonder if there are any package PCs that can compare to these genius rigs you lads come up with?

    Design a computer...

Well this is interesting for me, I have always been a PC user, but I admit I have no clue about hardware, software or any of it. But the shite I have gone through with PCs is unbelievable, and of course you could then say that's because you know nothing blahblah. Fine, I don't have the time- I like stuff that works for me. When my wife first bought her macbook pro I just laughed. So much money for a flashy laptop, all those weird ways of doing things. I just couldn't get my head around it and resorted to the 'women' card. When I actually (after some months) started using it bit by bit for this and that, I started to realise how amazingly user friendly and well-designed it was. Not just the look or the weight, but literally everything in detail. Now, I realise that a lot of you could fire all kinds of statistics and geekery about rigs and the like, and frankly I will laugh at your TV tans... but I know what I like, it works and I am impressed. The macs that I have since then come across and spent time with have continued to impress me. I put up with all the crap of PCs because I thought that was all there was on the market, even brand new spanking silent PC gaming flashy bastard PCs that my mates have- and guess what- they look nice and quick but are they reliable? No. Same windows problems, same issues as always. The Mac has never let my household down. After some proper scouting, I decided to get me a 27" Mac, should be arriving in a week or two. I have been looking around the net at peoples discussions over whether it is a good gaming machine or not. It is quite mixed, so it makes me nervous. Some say it is great and some say it is mediocre and will quickly date. I am expecting a lot because of the price, as most of you have said- it is very dear. It doesn't have the same stats as your man Madus there, 3.06 hz intelcore2 duo readeon HD 4670 256MB. So I will have to let you know how it performs with Arma 2, I see it as being a decent test since so many people have put the shits up me!
  20. Great work, great project. Could you possibly show us any sneak previews of the landscape yet? Can't wait for this
  21. Would the new iMacs be good do you think? 27" 3.06hz intel core2duo radeon hd 4670 256MB How do they compare to the stuff you are discussing, I haven't got a clue when it comes to rigs
  22. Thanks for the PDF link Rock. Maybe the Russian truck would be better then. Jesus, I had no idea our logistics gear was so bad! Good thing new funding is going to the front lines these days now though I suppose, but seriously that new camo?!
  23. Not frog spawn, but... I want my respawn/start point for my mission to be on the LHD where there would be helis and jets, and also have RHIBs around it in the water. Problem is I don't want my players to have to jump into the water to get onto the RHIBs,... anything I can do about this?
  24. bunnyman

    Amphibious spawn!

Ah cheers mate, no I hadn't seen that lol Nice one
  25. I was thinking that this list is missing and logistics transports or repair vehicles. I have read somewhere that the UK bought a large number of US MTVRs, but I haven't had that confirmed from a second source... anyone heard about this? The MTVR is quite close to our Leyland DAFs anyway. Anyone reckon we can use the Russian utility truck as a repair vehicle? I think we tend to use modulars of other vehicle types, tracked and so on. Don't have much info or knowledge about this, any ex-REME lads around?
