    ArmA 3 clan support

Interesting thread and one of the areas I've been starting to think about. I am a huge fan of COOP and have a focus on this aspect of the Arma community. How to bring more COOP players together; to share quality (not buggy) missions; to develop a league where COOP players can attempt missions and get scored for performance; share ideas; post server and team speak details; detail the type of style they play,I.e. vanilla, Ace, Acre, revives, no revives, etc so players can work out their best fit if they are looking to expand the players they can do missions with. I have started a website for this purpose but wait for Arma3 to progress it further.

I agree but not sure the Greek govt will :(

Opinions on the Alpha Release Date

I think it's a real possibility that BIS will change the island(s) so they no longer represent the current island. This will take time. But honestly, 2 pols futures are at stake here and I would prefer they focus on securing their freedom b4 releasing this game. We can still play Arma2 and all the gr8 islands that already exist while we wait.

I suspect the issue of the detained employees may impact on the original planned release date.

    Ghost Recon: Podagorsk

well i played it with 6 guys the other nite and first go we got our asses handed to us. second time round, we managed to get to extraction. not easy I agree but very challenging. :) will need to bring all your skills and read the map to work out best way in and out.
  8. Hi Some of you may know me, some not so I'll give you the quick overview. I'm Australian and spent many years playing Ghost Recon coop before moving over to Arma and Arma2. I have always been passionate about coop and mission making for coop players. A couple of things that I have seen, gaps that exist are ones which I want to address, hence the creation of this new website - www.arma-coop.com First one, and I've posted enough threads already about this is the creation of a Tournament and/or League for coop teams to carry out points-based missions to see how well they perform and compare to other coop teams. It's supposed to be light-hearted but professional - no sheep stations at stake if your team under performs. But it gives teams something broader to be part of and to gauge how well they compare to others and to find areas for improvement. This type of tournament was held regularly in the glory days of Ghost Recon and prizes consisted of nothing more then some bragging rights and competition medals that could be worn in your sig until the next tournament. It was extremely successful and popular. So that's part 1. Part 2 - is what I feel is the lack of a dedicated coop mission discussion and details forum. What I mean is, we know that there are a lot of coop missions out there but we don't know the format, the quality, the rquired addons, the numbers of players, bug reports, etc. Also missing, where to play coop? what level of difficulty (ACE or not), serious or not so serious, Chain of Command or players take turn leading missions; timezones; members only or public welcome, etc. I'd like to develop this in Arma2 and make sure it is well-managed in Arma3 so at all times we coop players know what is out there, what's good, and where to find it. From this I believe we end up with an Arma Coop community keeping eachother abreast of Arma coop news and events. Also a calendar to record upcoming events. Coop and Teamspeak server locations. Basically, a catalogue of all Coop for Arma series, a One Stop Shop. But it's a big job and I have a family to look after, missions to make, coop to play, and my timezone does not align with those in the northern hemisphere, etc. So are there ppl interested in becoming part of the team to drive this forward as Arma3 fast approaches? We will not forget Arma2 as we move to 3 bcoz I believe the quality of maps in Arma2 (unless ported across) will be reason to keep Arma2 installed and coop missions cranking. Note: the intention is to use existing quality websites like Armaholic, BIS and others to link to - not to duplicate the great things and other existing websites provide but to enhance what's already availablebut with a focus on COOP. I hope to hear from you soon, PM me if you like. Cheers Lighty.

    Desert Wars: Island of Dingor

i cant speak for everyone but i can tell you that i love Dingor becoz it feels like a whole new map. i created a campaign on Lingor and felt a bit stretched for new missions - but on Dingor i am creating a new campaign bcoz it has a whole new feel to it. in terms of desert maps, i do get a bit bored/tired (while i still appreciate the amount of work that island makers put in) of the Afghan style desert maps but this feels completely different - African. this takes me to Desert Siege in Ghost Recon.

do we read the book first then play the missions? or play missions then read?
  12. please note i am about to kick off a website www.arma-coop.com to house things all coop arma2 and host the coop league/ladder that i am putting together. would appreciate any support on the site to manage this. hopefully, we can make a home for coop in arma2 and 3
  13. I have got a scoring script implemented for coop mission tournament which adds or removes points for objectives completed or failed and it rally's and shows score at end of mission. You can use triggers to score anything you can think of. Happy to discuss further and also looking for mission makers for coop missions too.
  14. sounds interesting - i will try to get there thanx.
  15. I need your missions! As you mission makers may know, I have been working on a special project to create a Coop Tournament with points awarded to objectives completed in each mission. Clans would sign up and compete in each mission to see how their coop skills compare to the rest. It was something that was done a lot back in the days when I played Ghost Recon and the clans that played loved it. See thread for more info - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?140473-CAMP-Ghost-Recon-Desert-Siege-Coop-Tournament I have decided that a Coop Tournament is one thing but I am proposing to turn it up a gear and create a Coop League where clans can compete in a 3 month cycle (completing say 1 mission per week or per fortnight) and attempting the missions created by the quality mission makers in these forums. I have seen the brilliant work created by yourselves and I'm sure some of you would appreciate the opportunity to showcase some of your work. There are some details to be covered in the missions, ie. length of the mission, multiple objectives to be completed, points allocation for objectives completed, number of players and opfor in each mission, use of assets, etc. However, if you're interested let me know and we can work out the details to come up with an agreed format. I have already done a lot of the ground work in this space and have hosted several tournaments in my GR days. I am also setting up a website where all of the missions, teams and league will be hosted. I hope you will join me in bringing together a unique coop mission experience to the Arma players out there. Lighty.

Coop Mission Makers wanted for special project.

hell SP mission makers are fine too - just as valued. Very easy to take step from SP to Coop. cmon guys where are you?
  17. I think that it's only fair that I complete the trilogy but I'm going to try something a little different this time. I have had some support for my Coop Tournament and in this thread and in the glory days of Ghost Recon they were a big success. I will realise my dream and bring the same to Arma series this year. So this will be a Coop Campaign with a point scoring system which teams can sign up to compete in to see who the great Coop teams of the Arma2 series are. More to come but I have done tests on the point scoring system already and have begun work on the first mission. ---------- Post added at 10:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:46 PM ---------- to create the suspense I plan to host all of these missions through a website with a pre-mission brief similar to this sample - still progressing on the mission sample - trying to get it as professional as possible including developing a Briefings Page which teams can study prior to insertion. i think i will create a new thread for the mission brief. ---------- Post added at 10:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ---------- Mission Briefing WIP - (trying to get the format right here - feel free to comment on possible changes/improvements) --------- Location: Afrene, Isla Duala, Africa. Time: 06:00 Date: 10 January 2012 Weather Conditions: Clear Mission CodeName: Crocodile Feather Conflict Background:Welcome to Africa gentlemen - certainly makes a change from the European winter of Podagorsk. You better get used to the heat, sweat and dust quickly too because we're going to be here for a while. As you know, the Molation army declared war on Afrene amost 12 months ago and after fierce fighting along the borders the Molatian forces have gradually established a foothold in the small nation to the south. The United Nations strongly condemned the actions of Molatia and deployed a peacekeeping force to the region in an attempt to minimise the violence and protect the locals. This included setting up a refugee camp in the heart of Afrene as a safe haven for displaced civilians. Three days ago, Molation General Adongo Azubuike marched on the camp and slaughtered several hundred civilians including women and children. Twelve UN Peacekeepers were also killed trying to protect the camp. Yesterday, General Adongo spoke to his forces and demanded that they follow his lead and cleanse Afrene of all natives. It's going to be a blood bath if we don't act now and that is why you have been called here today. Mission Overview:Currently, the West has no presence in Afrene and Molatian forces have secured the main city of Kinsella, most surrounding towns and all air and sea ports in the region. They also have a formidable air defence comprised predominantly of Russian Mig's. This does not leave us many options for establishing a base of operations in Afrene. Your primary objective is to secure Aeroporto Tasmera located in the sth-east of Afrene and prepare the way for the rest of the troops. To achieve this you will insert by zodiac at dawn along the lightly patrolled coastline, carry out recon, and ultimately, secure the airport. Mission Objectives: Primary: 1. Secure Airport Secondary: 1. Disable Outpost Communications 2. Destroy Anti-Aircraft Unit Here is a map of the AO detailing your insertion and objectives for the mission. There are several small buildings, two aircraft hangars and a control tower located at the airfield. Make sure you clear all of these areas of opfor. We have also spotted an enemy chopper parked on the base which could become a serious threat to your mission if it gets airborne - you are clear to destroy this vehicle and any others deemed to be a threat to your primary objective. Situated south of the airport is a small Molatian military outpost which is home to about a dozen opfor units. Inside the base is a communications tower which will be used to call in reinforcements if things go hot at the airport. You are advised to disable the comms tower and eliminate any enemy units before assaulting the airport. Aerial surveillance has also detected a Shilka Anti-Aircraft unit sth-east of the airport. You will need to destroy this unit which will enable us to send in our troops by air once you have secured the airport. It is lightly protected by several 3-4 man squads which are patrolling the sth-eastern district. General Information: 9-man Spec Ops team codename Zulu-1 will insert. Pre-assigned weapons plus ammobox with limited additional weapons available. Vanilla Arma2 (at this stage) Revives (medic only - 8 revives??) + Team Leader (2 Revives???) - this is likely to be reduced to max 4 or 5 revives. The AO consists of a number of waterways interspersed between a number of small hills. The hills should enable your team to carry out effective recon of the AO. The waterways should enable the team to infiltrate effectively while maintaining stealth. Enemy Strength: Airport: Infantry - multiple 3-4 man patrols (max 12 units). SA.34MT Gazelle Helicopter (grounded) - possible air threat. Outpost: (sth of airport) Infantry (max 12 units including fixed guns). Possible vehicle with mounted gun. Known Target: Shilka (sth-east of airport) Additional: Confirmed: Several 3-4 man Infantry Patrols - east/sth-east of airport (max 12 units). Possible: Reinforcements from towns Ursana and Kirabo. Priority Arms Requirements: MAAWS (2 rounds) Democharges (1 round) Special Mission Requirements: nil. Emergency Evac Details: Mission Compromised: Extraction by zodiac to the east. ---------- Post added at 10:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 PM ---------- (for those of you hoping for an update to Island Thunder I felt that the small amount to be gained from fixing some of the missions that need update would be far better spent moving on to this new campaign and I don't have nearly as many hours to write missions these days) (and yes this will eventually be SP :))

[CAMP] Ghost Recon: Desert Siege - Coop Tournament

Operation: Desert Siege Mission: DS_01 Burning Sands Date: 06 December 2012 Time: 0430 hours Location: Sth-West Dingor. Dry ground. Limited cover and concealment. http://imageshack.us/a/img196/6889/ds01map.jpg (178 kB) Weather Conditions Clear; full moon; daybreak @ 0530. 1. Situation: Welcome to the Jewel of Africa, Task Force Scorpion, this is Dingor Island. Rich in oil, diamonds and tourism and positioned right on the edge of one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, she is the envy of many African neighbours. It's no surprise given the success the Molatians have had in Afrenia, that they have launched a successful invasion from the east into Dingor. This time the international community isn't going to stand back and watch and we are launching Operation Desert Siege as of 0800 hours this morning with the key objectives to starve the Molatians of supplies and reinforcements and to drive them off the island. In order to leave some kind of infrastructure intact, the Dingor government has requested that we try to preserve as much of the local architecture as possible. This means two things: firstly, we will not be launching air and missile strikes against enemy forces on the ground, and secondly, your unit is going to be getting your hands dirty a lot on this assignment. 2. Primary Objective: Establish a base of operations on the south-western shores of the island. You will initiate a landing by zodiac in the early hours of morning with your primary objective to secure a compound on the high ground at Villa Altana. http://imageshack.us/a/img840/2539/ds01compound.jpg (127 kB) Uploaded with ImageShack.us 3. Secondary Objectives: (i) Neutralise a Coast Guard situated west of your insertion zone to clear the way for reinforcements who will advance on the AO when your objectives are complete. (ii) Destroy a radio transmitter located east of your insertion in the town of Medlina. http://imageshack.us/a/img845/2540/ds01radiotower.jpg (125 kB) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (iii) Secure a second road block and destroy a BMP based in Alma located nth-west of Villa Altana. http://imageshack.us/a/img203/3071/ds01bmp.jpg (125 kB) Uploaded with ImageShack.us 4. Enemy Capabilities Molatian forces comprising 3-4 man patrols and defensive units protecting key assets; estimate 35-45 units. Arms/Supplies: AK47, AKM, AK74-GL, PK, RPG. Vehicles: 1xBMP; 2-3xTechnicals. 5. Friendly Forces TF Scorpion - 8 units - DCU gear Support: Nil Civilians: None detected - proceed with caution Arms required: 2xDemolition Charges; 1xMAAWS Medic only heal x 8 - (ACE2 wounding system not currently implemented) 6. Command & Signal Central Command callsign Eagle One. Task Force callsign Scorpion Ending Mission - Radio Eagle One when ready to end mission and earn points. Required Add-Ons: Lingor Island Dingor Island TF86 units not ACE2 currently (to be implemented in future with ACE Wounding System).

    Ghost Recon: Podagorsk

yes healing only through mouse wheel - i did not use the ACE2 wounding system for this campaign. with weapons you are kitted with the right weapons for the mission, however, there is some extra but limited gear in the chopper to provide for some customisation.
