    [Guide] Did you know...

Yes - and thank you for your language tipps in your PM. I corrected my article and hope there's no more "a" and "an" error.

    Beta 3 Now?

Yes, it's an really interesting phasis now... So I see at least this three possibilities: 1) Beta3 is coming... which makes only sense if official release is delayed (no good sign). 2) Beta3 is not coming... which on the other hand is a good sign for official release in time. 3) And in between: Beta3 is 99% finished and the effort to fix the installer is minor then the anger they get ("shitstorm"), announcing beta3 and then letting it be. By the way, Amazon Germany listet Carrier-Command officially, two days ago. A good sign for official release in time.
  3. You're welcome! Thanx - but I'm surely not more an expert than most others here. I was just in the mood to write something more than a few lines. Since two days I'm playing Beta2 and it offers an deeply look into the game. Feels good. Lets just wait the official version is here and then we will see, if our hopes (and prayers) are heared ... :-) I'm pretty sure that a bunch of guys will write here their impressions. If this will be not enough... let me know an I give my part also into it. As I said: you're welcome.

    Download size of Beta?

    Just self-therapy
  5. Yes, Tox_Laximus is right. As you can see here some of us are "old school": We where happy to play the original, years ago in 1988, maybe on Amiga or C64 and so on. We all get nervous, hearing that CarrierCommand will be relaunched and we all got one question in mind: "Will they make it and transport the original flair of the game?" I have the strong impression (and I think I'm not alone) that they did it! Therefore I can tell you - because I know from the original one - that CarrierCommand has an strategy game-principle that is really unique and very deep. Its hard to understand for anyone, who does not know the original. Who havent played days and weeks for ONE campaign. Nowadays - my impression - the games have to be fast and quick: Go online - blast somebody / someting and after one, two or three hours its done. Next day - new game. The base on CarrierCommand is totally different - which is also an reason for no Multiplayer-Mode (in this stage): Here you start an campaign and capture one Island after an other - defending here - attacking there - oh: enemy Carrier Contact... and so you set up your own network of production/mining/defence-Islands. Only with foresight you can plan and handle your ressouces - and there will be also times while you have to wait, till an Island is built finally to continue or till some repairs are done, till some weapons are produced AND delivered. In THAT type of game one campaign lasts for weeks and longer. You start, continue and do a few steps furhter in the big, big plan. This has an own fascination, which nearly you get in some other big real-time strategy-games BUT never in the combination with long lasting gameplay and direct-action (jump in vehicles). Therefore an other big and last difference is the number of units: It's small and clear. Four Mantas and Four Walrusses - and the Carrier. That's it - an this is good! Because every part geht's an new worth. If you loose an fully equipped Manta you will have to invest much time and energy to get this all back again. This is a contrast to the masses of units, being played in other strategy games (which is also okay but different). With CarrierCommand you get a interessting (and unique) mixture of stragety and action which in older days (original) was an milestone - and it is also nowadays, I think.

Slow down guys :-) Im also enthusiastic but let them their time. Dram wrote that the Specialist for the Installation-Routine (which is the reason, why Beta3 is delayed) comes back today. But we dont' know if the work will be finished today - maybe its more complex etc. etc. And I think we all don't want to bother them more then necessary. So hope, trust... and wait.
  7. Perfect answer from Jedra. Tell us, what you expect, what you like and what not - and we can give you our personal opinion, maybe an hint. And: Look some Videos (via Youtoube or Carriercommand.com) - this will help also. Greetings Anton, big fan of Carriercommand (and addictet to)
  8. Hey there! I want just tell you about my experience today which shows me: i'm addicted. I was just opening the refrigerator, get something and reading the expiration date: 29th of September 2012. My first thought: "Ah, the day after Carrier Command is released"... :rolleyes2: Thinking a while I recognized some more points: 1) The past days first in the morning and last in the evening was: looking in the Forum, if beta3 is there. :p 2) Now knowing (hoping) that Beta3 is coming on Monday: I'm planning to work more this weekend (freelancer) to have enough time on Monday... 3) Watching Carrier-Command videos has become an really deep pleasure for me 4) Carrier Command shows me an totally new aspect of learning patience, just like an ZEN-Way :jesus: 5) Setting up an new, personal time-measurement: Bevore launch of Carrier Command / After launch of Carrier Command (BLC and ALC) What are your experiences - how is Carrier Command changing youre life "a little bit"? Greetings from Germany, 15th BLC Anton, addicted.
  9. I think, it's enough, everything else then pressing "1" to select the carrier (and staying there). Guess it's okay to select for example an Manta (docked) and equip it ... but only guessing.

    My thoughts after playing beta2

Absolutely with you - especialli Nr.5 is not so much work (I think) but worth it. Also two suggestions from me: 1) Island-Connection-Lines: It woult be very useful (will say important!) to see the Network-Connetions between the islands. So I can decide taking the "left" or "right" one enemy island for exaple, because one of both is so isolatet that - if caputred and mine - there will be no connection to my other islands. This will be very important for my decision, which island to attack next. Now I can see my connection-lines and the enemy ones. But not these from enemy islands toward my ones. Not to show too much and getting confused maybe the best solution is just to show all networklines from an island, when hovering with the mous over it or by klicking it. 2) Manual Timewarp: There are situations, when I've just to wait... because fuel is empty or I'm isolatet on an outpost (enemy capured my connection) etc. - then could be very useful to have an Timewarp-Button for manually activating and stopping the Timewarp. Otherwise I've to sit maybe minutes to wait e.g. for enough ressources etc. These two Points could be really interesting for raising strategy-factor and fun in Carrier Command. Hope you think about it and maybe give us a patch later (or maybe you have already thought about it ...). Thanx Anton (who downloadet yesterday Beta2 and played till two'o'clock... :butbut:) ---------- Post added at 10:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:31 AM ---------- Addition: 3) Extra keys for the Carrier AA-Guns: Its extremely annoying that the AA-Guns of the Carrier can only be cycled through. If my Carrier is attacked by air and I will defend him manually the Situation ist following: The Manta approaches, I fire on him and he flys over the Carrier to the other side - now I have to cycle through and find him, to fire again. Then the Manta flys back and I have to cycle back three times or more to "find" him. It would be much better, if every single cannon (also the Plasma) could be assigned with an own key. So for example if the attack comes from front/right, I can switch to back/left-cannon with ONE Key and after that again to front/right-cannon also with ONE Key, instead of cycling around nervously while the Manta fires on me. By the way: This special keys dont have to be assigned from start on. Its absolutely okay, if the cannons are cycled by standard but the possibillity is there to give extra Keys to each of them. I think and hope this is also no big afford. As I said: Maybe in a Patch. But it would be really useful!

    Online Store down ?

Ähm... sorry for asking, Dram but: The Installer-Expert, your College, is hopefully not one of the guys, being arrested? (I know, we should not talk about this theme... but this is only a small and simple question...)

    Installation of upcoming Beta

Nono... don't give up! Think it over: Beta3 is ready - only the installer fails and this will be fixed on monday. So why should they not release it? Yes... because the official launch is in two weeks. But on the other hand they have announced/promised it and therefore I believe in the good in this world...
  16. Hello all there! --- This can be answered by Forum-Users. No Admins have to waste time for it an can continue working on Beta3 :-) --- Full of anticipation for Beta3 there is one important Question for me because of my small Download-Capacity. How dit it work on Beta2: Is "sprocket.exe" downloading the File of the Beta AND installing it automatically or is after downloading another .exe there, which I can move to another location and install then? Background: The PC, where I want to install the beta on, has no internet connection. So my plan is to download the Beta on the first PC and install it on the second one. But this will be not possible if downloading and installing is one process... Thanx for your advices! Anton

    Installation of upcoming Beta

It should / will be Possible. In some videos you can see the stuff, you can mantas equip with - an the hook is there. Also in some interviews they mentioned it. But could be that in beta2 it is not yet implementet (also maybe not in beta3). We will see... By the way, if not recognized yet: Beta3 is for monday announced.

Yes, yes, tortuosit! I've alreade watched many of that. The Link you postet is new but... evey Video has roundabout 200 MB... remember my Volume-Problem. But one or two additional Videos... yes this I will enjoy. Do you have an hint: Is there an Video where I can see an Manta transporting a Walrus via Hook?

    Installation of upcoming Beta

You're right, ScareYa - but the Problem is not the Time, with my connection I think the Download will be done in one or two hours. I have enouth Bandwith but not enough Volume: 5 GB per Month it my limit. Now I'm on 2GB used... so 3GB left. Downloading the beta twice (first Ver2 then Ver3) fails for me because the rest of the month "normal" surfing needs also Volume... And additional, maybe more important: downloading/playing Beta2, knowing that Beta3 could appear every Minute... not fine :-)

    Installation of upcoming Beta

Fine! Thank you for this quick reply. So... another waiting period for Beta3 begins... (You have to know that till now I have NONE Beta installed... Beta3 will be the first chance for me to play Carrier Command... therefore the wait is extra hard for me.)

    Download size of Beta?

Yes, thank you Dram for updating us. Also thanks ScareYa - im fully with you. So one or two days... this sounds really good. And by the way: A fully working Beta3 in a few days is much better than a buggy one right now.
