How to Port 3ds Models into Arma 2?

Hi, me started also with those old treasures. Porting an 3D Model needs a lot of very different steps. A car is even more complicate as it has Animations and a lot of Parts to care. Maybe a static Model would be an less brainbreaking start. Think of some parking-meter or an Garage. Have a look how BI do it with their Sample Models. They are from ArmaA 1, the differences to ArmA2 are tiny. Good luck with your work! -
Hi Arenis. Try this one if you own OA or A2 CO. It needs no Addons, so it´s a perfekt quick-starter. With Addon´s like ACE² and some custom Rifles like the Cheytac can it make nicer and more realistic. Try the Game for a while to get the very different Feeling to other games, then it will be easy for you to make your own Missions.

You can merge the polys when you select them and press "shift+d". Or you can create a new face in the empty room.You have only to select 4 vertices and use "create polygon" -

I had the same issue with Blender. Never found a way, so i would be also happy for an answer. The most sucking thing is, that you can´t select the faces when they are backside. This seems to appear only with some random faces for me. A workaround is to copy all faces and flip them, so all is doubleside visible. Bad for high polys. @Archosaurusrev: It happens only in some faces all about the place, so you can´t really select them. Also when you flip the polys from hand it has an bad effekt to the next face. -

Hi Rydygier, I´m very happy you are thinkink about some kind of chess in ArmA. I knew you make some of us (Mr Burns to name him) very, very happy. Sadly i can´t script, but when you need some modelling work i can give you a hand. OT: I remember a very old amiga game, you played chess with dinosaur. When one beat another they had to fight like in Street Fighter Absolut awesome! Maybe in ArmA a Duell in slow motion with a big Handicap for the Defender? :p -

Mission Editor works bad!

You won´t see soldiers rushing an Hill or something and ignore the supressing fire. That´s no opinion for the AI. You can try to make an trigger which disables the russion AI in some parts with something like: ,When they reach the destination alive you can place another trigger with: This is c+p from the very usefull BIKI and not tested! -

Hi Andreas, For the first: in the Units INIT-Line set the soldiers to the kneeled position, "UP" let them stand.They won´t run+gun, but it looks more a rush. Also you should play with the skill-slider for your Units. For your second: in the frivers INIT moves him into the driver position.He will still follow his waypoints.Glad to hear you are Interested in the Editor. If you need any Infos about Editor commands and tricks have a look at Mr-Murray´s great Editor Guide. Also in German. It´s for ArmA1, but the Editor is the same and all the commands still work. -
They already took our whole spare time, maybe even our souls. Half of the Members here will be strongly disappointed one day when there is no Editor in Heaven :p

Using dayz-zombies in your own map/editor

The Zombies will act like Cows or Chickens in the Editor i guess. All the attackicg stuff and behavior may be scripted in the MP-Mission. MAYBE there will be an Module which allows using the zombies in own missions. Since DayZ is an Alpha there will go some time, also the devs should have work enough with the huge success and attention their great work got. The weapons should work, maybe this gives you some consolation. -

+1 for the knife in the "starter pack". I played maybe 5 or 6 hours and never found one. There where nice weapons, backpacks and all the nice things but no knife. -
@STALKERGB, I know that, but i asked myself if the math behind the Shaders needs more GPU-Power then the single Textur. Also i was not sure if the sections for textur-sources are the same thing like the parts in the 3D Mesh.

Interesting Theme. What´s with the other textures like the "*_smdi.paa" and the "*_nohq.paa" ? For example when you have a car with one 1024*1024 "car_co.paa". Then you use some metalic parts and some glas. So you fave 3 times the rvmat textures with 3 different rvmat settings. The loading time for all the textures affect the GPU-Ram mostly AFAIK, the section may cost other GPU Power.

I have seen pictures where the Raven had some kind of camo. That looks really silly. Also the VBS2 one looked very similar, also it would be a blasphemy and not real!

Maybe a Benchmark like "3D-Mark" can clear up if it´s an Arma or a Hardware fail. When the GPU goes crazy, google for "GPU" and "baking oven" :eek:.

Very nive Update Feint. The dependency for Battery-charging should take the power a bit back. Also the 8km radius is a great idea (although 8km are not really small in Armaverse). It´s amazing how much love for all the little details where put in from you :ok:!

Hi all. Last week i read about Sniper Elite V2 was released. I played the first one a lot, so i´m curios if anyone got it. For those who don´t know them, It´s a WWII-Sniper Game where you sneak around Berlin as an Single US-Sniper. Enemys are German soldiers up to tanks. The great fun in the first Game was ever the Bullet cam in SP and some other candys. Played it even in a Clan for 2 years. MP was great to. The maps are good and you can always find someone online. I don´t know if i can post trailer, it´s :butbut:PEGI 16:butbut:. Have a look in Youtube, the Damage-System is greatly enhanced. You can shot through an enemies visor for example. The first part was more Arcade than Sim, so i guess there will be some Arrows and "press E, goddamned" too. If someone knows more, let me now please.

May be OT but that´s the greatest Cockpit i´ve ever seen. All those Animations and Details make me cry.

Hi Feint. For the Battery: Maybe you can add a indicator on the Screen which is splitted into 4 or 5 parts like in a Handy-display. You ran reduce one part every 5 Minutes now which makes 20-25 minutes for usage for example. With the last part ending, the Raven can land where it is, so players have to keep an eye on the display. After landing i would set a break for 5-10 minutes for charging. Less time may be still to overpowered.

BAF + PMC DLC and TKOH.

For me this one worked well: You see both Games are installed in D:\. Works well with Hinds and The A2-DLC. When You need more space in the INIT, use short paths like "e:\Arma2", "e:\ToH". Have to say that my A2+OA comes from DVD, all 3 DLC´s and ToH from Sprocket. I use no steam.
