You could try out Dead Nation. http://deadnation.eu/forums/ It has it's own launcher to update the mod and browse servers.

Losing interest in the game - terrible performance with (mid) high end rig.
-=Grunt=- replied to A. GrayFOX's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
There is no problem with your specs, I currently have an i5 3570K 4.2 Ghz, 8GB RAM and GTX 560 Ti, no SSD. It's the way that the client lags when the server/mission lags which is horrible. My experience with a mission over different servers: Server 1 - 20 FPS Server 2 - 40-50 FPS Server 3 - 12 FPS If you can run the game fine in the Editor (I get 40-70 FPS in the editor) then it entirely depends on the server's performance in multiplayer. (And how long it's been up for) -
You can also press 2 and manually select a target from there. (You can even lock onto friendlies with that menu)
-
Check your anti virus/malware programs. It may be blocking it. A friend of mine yesterday had an issue with his ArmA 3 not starting, turned out it was his anti-malware flagging it due to ArmA 3 trying to change some keyboard/mouse things.
-
The low FPS in multiplayer is usually caused by the server itself. When the server lags, the clients lag too. (That is why servers regularly restart) It could be down to a crappy server, a badly scripted mission, or both.

Direct chat not working correctly

No problem, just spread the word whenever you find someone with a broken direct chat. -
Direct chat not working correctly
-=Grunt=- replied to Deathhood98's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I managed to fix my direct chat by plugging in a mic. No mic, DC not working. With mic, DC works. I can now see and hear other people's direct chat. -
Direct Comms. not working without a mic (Possible 'fix' for users with broken DC)
-=Grunt=- posted a topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I've finally fixed my Direct Chat after a year of it not working... I plugged in a headset with a mic. It used to work all fine since ArmA 2's release until about a year ago. (Around the time with ArmA 2 OA beta patches that changed Direct Chat things) I was in an Altis Life server on ArmA 3, told someone my Direct Chat isn't working (That I can't hear or see anyone's Direct Chat but they can see my Direct Chat messages) and the person told me that it didn't work for him until he got a mic. So I plugged in a random headset with a mic, and it worked! It would be nice if Direct Chat worked even if the user doesn't have a mic like before. I have posted the problem on the feedback tracker. (Accidentally put "severity none") http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=14469 -
A2 vehicles a solution or A3 lack of content?
-=Grunt=- replied to mistyronin's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I would love it if BIS ports them with the updated physics (Vehicles) and animations (Character models). The models and textures still look fine in my opinion. I don't mind the maps and characters not being ported but would love the weapons and vehicles. EDIT: Perhaps make it a DLC where you have to input your ArmA 2 and/or OA CD key in order to download. People that don't own ArmA 2/OA won't be able to use the content. (Or give them the "lite" version) -
AH-99 Blackfoot weapon change

Aren't the DAGR just unguided rockets? -
DX10/11 and PhysX has built-in multi-core support so the rendering and physics should be using 4 cores. Not sure about the other stuff such as AI.

Try this: Right click ArmA 3 in your Steam library Click "Properties" Click "Local Files" Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" Steam will check all of your files, if anything is wrong it'll re-download that file. EDIT: You also might be using the Dev Build and you're trying to join "stable build" servers or the other way around. To opt in/out of the Dev Build: Right click ArmA 3 in your Steam library Click "Properties" Click "Betas"

[Video comparison] Bullet impacts on human targets
-=Grunt=- replied to Tulx's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
That bullet still must have hurt like heck and caused him to collapse/fall... We kinda got statue men in ArmA 3 at the moment... (Not as bad as ArmA 2) I'd really like an animation like that when the plate carrier stops a bullet. (Or even a ragdolley animation when hit but not dead, kind of like when ramming an enemy with a car at the moment) EDIT: By "a bullet" I mean, rifle caliber ones. -
In the future apparently human beings are not subject to inertia or weight.
-=Grunt=- replied to pd3's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I believe it's just the speed of the animation. Character/avatar animations in ArmA 3 seem to be faster than ArmA 2's so it gives people the impression that running is faster. -
Mmm yes, Sleeping Dogs... Love the rain in that one.

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
-=Grunt=- replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It's pretty much personal preference really, between Nvidia and AMD. Me, I prefer Nvidia because I'm fond of it and most of my friends use Nvidia too. I generally find Nvidia's drivers stable, even the Beta versions but I can't speak for AMD because I don't have experience with their cards. A small plus is PhysX, from time to time there is a game that comes out with GPU-accelerated PhysX (ArmA 3 uses CPU PhysX), it's just a nice thing to have. Like in Borderlands 2 and Metro 2033. -
Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
-=Grunt=- replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I'd suggest waiting for Intel's new Haswell and Nvidia or AMD's upcoming GTX 700 or HD 8000 series GPUs. Haswell is around April and the new GPU series aren't far too. -
I just overclocked my i5 3570K to 4.2 Ghz... Chopper showcase still running at 20-40 FPS. Really low CPU usage and the GPU not being used a lot. I used an on-screen display to measure it through-out the mission and here is the amount of CPU and GPU usage I've got: 1st core: 70-80% 2nd core: 40-50% 3rd core: Stays around 30% 4th core: Same as 3rd core GPU usage was moving about from 60% to 80%. Feels like AI congests the processor so much that the processor bottlenecks the GPU... Since in multiplayer and the editor without much AI, my GPU usage is at 99%. My specs: Intel i5 3570K @ 4.2 Ghz ASUS Maximus V Gene 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 Mhz 7200 RPM 1TB Seagate Barracuda Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti OC

Once you activate a game on your Steam account, it'll be tied to that account forever. So you just gotta log into that account and you can download then play the game.

What upgrade would get me the most performance for arma 3
-=Grunt=- replied to dragonfire43560's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yeah, definitely the new processor. I used to run ArmA 2 with a GTX 560 Ti and an old Q6600... Upgraded to an i5 3570K at 3.8 Ghz and wow... The difference was really massive. I can't imagine my old processor running ArmA 3. -
ArmA 3 definitely looks better than ArmA 2 on lighting alone. The grass and foliage also looks better. Although I believe the ground textures should be higher-res. (Looks bad at mid-range like A2's ground textures, but a lot less obvious in A2) Comparison of OA's textures vs ArmA 3's textures, both using ArmA 3's updated engine at the same graphical settings: http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/2267/takiv.jpg (586 KB) http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/8853/arma3.jpg (651 KB) You can clearly see the detail of ArmA 3's new higher resolution bump mapping and textures, taking full advantage of the new lighting.

Suffers from the same issues as ArmA 2 IMO
-=Grunt=- replied to Tac1's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
ArmA 3 is a Steam exclusive game so you can probably count on Steamworks when it's released. (The same thing NS2 uses) -
AI kills the performance completely (instructions how to test inside)
-=Grunt=- replied to aop's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Having multi-threaded AI would really be great. (If it isn't multi-threaded at the moment) When playing and monitoring CPU usage with my OSD (On Screen Display), it shows that the first core has the most load 70-90% while the other cores only get 40-70% load. The 3rd and 4th cores have the lowest load of them all. Using an i5 3570K at 3.8 Ghz. -
The recoil at the moment seems pretty easy to handle. Just gotta pull the mouse down a bit while firing to compensate, takes a bit of practice for people who don't really play a lot of FPS games but the player will eventually feel comfortable. I kinda like it that I'm the one that's supposed to compensate for the recoil. At about 300 meters, sure, it's just single shots but you're not really supposed to full auto at that range. (Unless you've got an LMG I guess)

AI accuracy: To good, to bad or good as it is?
-=Grunt=- replied to almanzo's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
The AI accuracy at the moment seems fine to me. My only (Fixed typo lol) complaint is that they spot too quickly. For example: I'm sitting on top of a hill (Using the "high prone" stance) 600 meters away using a suppressed M14 EBR... I shoot the windshield of an Ifrit and it automatically spots me even though it didn't even hear my shot or see any sort of muzzle flash.
