    Windows 7 Crash To Desktop

yea i've got the same exact problems. i thought it might be a paging file problem so tried with and without pagefiles, still crashes. tried every combination of fixes with all the target alterations, and beta patches... nothing stops the crashing.

    Windows 7 Crash To Desktop

you and me both. basically the same exact thing. arma2.exe still in the task manager processes. happens in every aspect though, campaign, single player, personally made missions. happens when saving, switching views, entering/exiting vehicles, panning the camera. sometimes it just freezes and brings up the windows mouse cursor. win7 64, amd 955, 8800gtx, 4gb ram.
  3. still crashing after 902 release. still useless.
  4. do these beta patches only address what is specifically written in the changelogs or are there coding enhancements inside each one that aren't listed due to the complexity of the explaination? I don't give a rats behind about the functionality of the AI unless their poor scripting is what is causing a the game to freeze and bring my cursor up. I'm getting reasonable frames and fewer stutters since my pagefile alterations... now I just can't make it through any missions...

HEY THERE! :) (CHEDDAR FRAN!) AMERICA HAS MoRE CRASHES FOR YOU! ACCEPT THESE ON BEHALF OF THE RHONDA WAGON! HAPPENING ALL OVER THE LAND OF CHERNARUSSSSSSIA AFTER MINUTES OF GAMEPLAY WANDERING! NO FUN! http://rapidshare.de/files/48797772/arma2.zip.html ================================= LOL, I JUST RECIEVED AN INFRACTION FOR WRITING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS! wow, what has the world been coming to when people can create such a stupidly strong connection as capital letters being the equivelant to yelling? that is one more dumb thing existing on this planet. it's text! get your head examined! I'm guessing it's more of a moderator power trip against me, hope it gave their mind a sense of meaning in this existence. One less related pool of blood and brain matter for someone to clean up! Anyway I edited my original post to be compliant with the insecure control policy of the forums! Enjoy!

    addmagazinepool

cool, thanks folks. will be checkin these out.

    addmagazinepool

hmmmm, I want to add multiple magazines at one time, with one already fully loaded into its corresponding weapon. seems like a sensible idea to me. kind of like how you can have an addweaponcargo to a truck and it will put multiple weapons in at once, eh? with this method i have to put in ;player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore";player addmagazine "dumbeldore"; to get the appropriate amount... seems ineffecient to me... removemagazines worked to get rid of the current multiples of ammo. see i wanted to outfit a draped sniper(not just an unarmed template soldier) with a different gun to start with, everything worked except this. i'm starting to understand how inefficient things can be. computers probably calculating repeated script commands for hundreds of soldiers at one at time.
  8. Trying to add magazines to the player character with the "unit addmagazinepool ["magname", count]" formula isnt working for whatever reason. when i try to use it is wants me to put a ; between the unit and addmagazinepool. if anyone knows if there is another script or something or if this is broken... let the people know.

    Question for A2 developers... sysspec

Yea, I will give them that too. Just wish a lot of this was polished. I'm feeling the shelving woes coming on where I'm finding so many indescribable crashes during gameplay that I'm discouraged to try further. I'll be playing for awhile.... somewhat "acceptable" performance in that I may have a smooth moment while trying to neutralize a threat, then all the sudden everything halts and my windows cursor comes up. Forces me to have to call up the task manager to get outta the freeze and cancel the arma2.exe op.

    Question for A2 developers... sysspec

.......... What the hell is your problem? That was the original post to this whole thread, it's bitchy morons who take it to new levels by questioning the presence of the thread in the DAMN TROUBLESHOOTING FORUM. Was the second poster such an idiot as to not see the value of knowing such specifications in helping people understand what kind of hardware was actually used to know what they're up against? Possibly, maybe even use this as a spring board to contemplate that maybe recommended box specifications should indicate the hardware level to run the "complete vision" of the game? If you want to let your brains decay by falling into some sophiscated trance of fanboy defense stance on anything that could possibly, remotely be concieved as a balk on the developers glory, then KNOCK.... lol whups! page this file!

windows 7 is excellent. i have XPpro x32 installed on another hard drive for dual boot in case i absolutely need it for legacy software... i suppose i could just run arma from the w7 drive and see how it works... though i'd rather just keep it all simple and in one place. i'm surprised so many take offense to me heavily ragging on BIS lack of comprehensive beta testing before throwing the problems onto the people who hand them their hard earned cash. you must really like paying for work. ---------- Post added at 06:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:21 PM ---------- in fact, can i hire some of you to pay me so you can make sure my shaft is spic and span at all times?

    lol whups! page this file!

well, arma 2 basically works on w7 despite the bugs of the AI being able to detect you and shoot at you through concealing objects and so on. There's a lack of consistently fluid gameplay but if you go into your advanced system settings through the control panel and make your min and max page file size 1.5x the size of your physical RAM, you can at least (at least I did) squeeze a little more performance out of the game. sometimes virtual memory helps. this is all related to an incoherent draw problem from the game, it doesnt utilize enough RAM and thus its calling from the HD to fill a finite amount of RAM that the game has already predefined for itself(unfortunate) which then finally gets pumped into the processors. the HD write speeds (unless an SSD can be employed) will not be fast enough to keep filling the small amount of RAM being used which is getting sucked up by the processor. too bad this just isnt on the 64bit horse. that should be the highest priority patch.
  13. so windows 7 apparently sets your paging file pretty janky to start. i thought i had set it soon after i set up the OS, but i decided to look at it and see if there was any tweaking and noticed i must of forgotten to look at it in a daze of miraculousness at how much better w7 already performed. well, did a 1.5 addition of a page file to my secondary hard drive.... immense performance boost in graphics heavy games. check those page files.

    Question for A2 developers... sysspec

yes, i have been using the latest beta. you know what, I roll off a pretty decent amount of play with it... all settings maxed. not fluid and never actually fluid despite lowering settings at times which is why i'd rather leave them maxed. I'm just not going to sit down and invest time on a mission that can just slip out of my hands in a blink on some random crash, basically making the prior moments a waste of effort. the shoddy lingering documentation on mission editing and scripting also dissuades my from getting involved in that. so bam. i'll do what i can do. i'm not happy about this surprisingly supported trend in computer gaming however. yes, i do have higher standards for how I spend my time. Being right here right now, arguing with subserviant consumers doesn't fit in with my concept of a well spent night. PEACE!
  15. wow none of this seems to be working for me... and whoever writes up the wiki page for this could do much better.
