    Freezing every 5 sec. problem

Thanks again for the advice, but none of them was successful, not even running in XP compatibility mode. Additionally to fiddling around with NVidia and Rivatuner settings I tried to change Virtual memory settings, all to NO AVAIL ! However, when reducing the texture sizes I get it to a more or less playable state, means the hiccups a bit less obvious. To what extend this will disturb missions later remains to be seen, so I'll try how far I get. Really a pity such a classic has that much problems with modern PCs  Mike
  3. A question to Bohemia Interactive : If I would buy ARMA or ARMA II from this biggest German download store, would I be able to patch them normally ? ARMA: http://gamerunlimited.gamesplanet.com/produit.html?product_id=183 ARMA II : http://gamerunlimited.gamesplanet.com/produit.html?product_id=1103 The reason for my question : This site does not deliver patches. I bought another game there a while ago and was not able to use patches, because these patches introduced a CD check and my download version stumbled over that. That might be often the case for older games, because at the time the patches were made, download versions didn't exist yet. So ... they deliver e.g. ARMA V1.05. Will I be able to install and use V1.17 ? Mike

    Freezing every 5 sec. problem

In the meantime I tried some old NVidia drivers, Rivatuner, reduced the graphic settings in GOTY Preferences to the bare minimum. All to no avail. Without much hope for success, I tried too install GOTY on my new desktop (Core I7, NVidia GTX275, Windows 7 64 bit, no soundcard). To my surprise it installed correctly, but no way to play it. EXACTLY the same freezing/stuttering problem. That PC has never seen a gamecontroller, so I assume it's an NVidia quirk ? Oh well, unless someone comes up with a clever idea, it seems it's time to say goodbye to some older games. %§%"&§(%"§, I should have kept my old PC :icon_sad: Mike

    Freezing every 5 sec. problem

Thanks for the fast answer ! However, also in the Rivatuner history it mentions this : "Removed obsolete "Depth buffering" tab in Direct3D tweaks dialog for the ForceWare 65.xx and newer drivers." So it's seems this setting is really no longer active and necessary at all. Mike

    Freezing every 5 sec. problem

I have just bought and installed the Game of the year edition and have patched it to V1.96. I have the same Freezing/stutter problem, as described here : http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=2804 Game controllers are not active. I can not find any Direct 3D 'tab with "Enable alternate depth buffering technique" in my NVidia control panel. The only setting related to buffering is "Common background-/depth buffer", that didn't help. Computer is a DELL Precision M90 Laptop with Core 2 Dual and an NVidia Quadro 2500M graphic card. That's just a CAD optimized version of the NVidia 7900 family, using the same drivers (as far as I know). I'm using DirectX 9.0c. Is there anything else I could check or look for ? Any ideas would be much appreciated ! Mike
