  1. i owned but one computer with an intel cpu, the rest i built myself with AMD cpu's and Nvidia graphics cards. i have never had 1 ounce of trouble with AMD they have always done what they said on the box and always a fair few quid cheaper too.

  2. let me answer your question!

i too am a BF/COD/AA gamer. excuse me mods while i clarify something...

my better half asked me what game i wanted for my b'day, i said ofp:dr so she bought me that, things didn't look good on the forum for the game, i was pointed in this direction by an A2 player, i downloaded the A2 demo on sunday gone. i simply can't turn it off. yes you only get two missions and limited bits to it but hell. we went today and swapped the game she bought me for this one.

CoD is a nadefest just as BF is for statpadding. this is a tactical sim in FPS and all ballistics are correct, all injuries are near as damit. if you take a hit to the leg your on your belly to the nearest outpost unless you have a medic on your team?

controls are nothing like cod or bf so you will have a huge learning curve with this. oh and just like bf all vehicles are driveable/flyable etc.

get the demo but be aware its not perfect play it for a few days and buy the game (i'm sure you will) i know i - well my better half did ;)

  3. from what i have seen on these forums, there is a real sense of love for the game and BIS, THAT isn't something another game maker can boast. purely because BIS seemingly work with its community they strive to make things work rather than simply line their own pockets. Yes the latter is important but even from being on these forums and only being able to play the demo, i see BIS as an oldschool company where its customers are formost. How many gaming companies can boast this? i bet it isn't many.

keep up the great work guys you are doing us and your selves proud ;)

  4. since i have downloaded the demo i have become hooked. sometimes i like a fast paced game but my liking lives about 10 mins then i get bored of nade spam. i have been playing the sp campains in the demo just to try get used to the controls (which is slowly becoming easier) but all i can say so far is.....

excellent!! and i'm only on the demo!

it kind of reminds me of deer hunter series. i mean the free roam and weapon use.

Its simple really, Arma to other games is a simulator vs duke nukem with latest engines and animations and gloss, no debate really. The thing people get lost in is the graphics and sound in other games, but fail to realise the complex nature of arma and what its actually trying to represent.

Why people come here (not just certain folk in this thread but others) and slam BIS/Arma users becuase they like this approach of a simulator and dislike other games, amazes me, like we should defend our position and silence views in case it upsets someone here, pretty ridiculous. This is nothing to do with most here or the OP btw :)

@Anfiach ... what you posted sums it up, and that's just the way it is.

i'm a gamer meaning i can enjoy a wide veriety of games as long as they are FPS. heck i don't care as long as i get some enjoyment. i have set myself for swapping a certain game for this one, at the same time i will be getting MW2 purely because i do like the game even with is flaws.

i came from BF2 to play the demo of this. i also have cod4 installed and many other games. but i feel i'll play this one more.

  5. i have the GTX 260 not really much to write home about except that if you emptied the contents you could use the case as a sandwich box.

now i'm getting around 27fps could be the draw distance? might have to play with that. but

system specs are AMD dual core 4200 2.2mhz i think?

    2 gig ram

    GTX 260

    ASUS M2N-SLi Delux MB

the demo runs kinda ok but at times it feels like trying to run through a lake of custard.

  6. Hey Thanks for the replies guys.

Now this is what i'm talking about! I come on here and straight away there isn't one bad word spoken of the game. and i HATE to run and gun! BF2 is a nade fest. CODMW is also a nade fest. i like to get involved along with the next man but even if that means as a sniper, i'm doing my bit! some gamers can not grasp that snipers lay low hide and take out long distance shots. but this is when i'm in chill mode.

i also like to be on the front line in the thick of it but not spawning on a freshly dropped nade (gets annoying).

i used to play AA back in 2002-2004 i think it was a month after it came out? anyway thats the sort of game i'm looking for. i know i aint played it yet but i'm hoping that this is a good cross between that and BF?

  7. I have been looking for a new FPS/sim to occupy my mind and boredom. i'm a BF2 player and ex COD4 player, it just seems that DICE can't get the game right. i have tried asking nicely for them to fix the hitbox's and up the power on unlocks but every patch the hitbox's get worse, the unlocked weapons are pita.

so my fiencee got me OFP2 for my b'day which comes round on the 22nd. i signed upto that forum to get info and feedback from the players of the game and its not good at all!

i'm in the process of d/l the beta of arma2, infact the 2nd d/l today. i lost connection with the first and it corrupted the file. hopefully this one will be good.

i'll be taking said OFP2 back to game to swap it for ArmA2 at game where OFP2 came from.

so i'm looking for some good gameplay etc with this, i know its been well recommended!.
