Looks like something that would definitely help me use the command system. Unfortunately I have a Dutch W7(64) home premium OS and the speech recognition is not included in that language/version. Is there a way to get around this issue?

Nope. I was doing other stuff in my twenties (I am a musician),that's why I might've been a little slow in following technological developments. A healthy Western European here :D

I'm 37 years old. Bought my first pc in 2003 and got internet in 2007! Heck, I only got my first cell phone in '98, I remember being young and having to run to the phonebooth at the corner of my street to call my friends in the weekend. I'm middle management in a chain of cinema complexes and most of the workforce there is below 23 or so. They find it funny that a frost (as in permafrost, aka old) plays computergames. Still is comforting to see this poll though, as I am clearly not the oldest one around It is however impossible for me to play other FPS though, it's simply too fast for me. This, Arma1 and America's Army are the only shooters I ever played.But hey, I'm only connected for three years now, so......

Is it confirmed that this works better then a conventional HD? I was thinking about buying a SSD to improve Arma2's performance, but if this works I might try that first, much cheaper ofcourse! By the way ,the game runs fine for me on win7 64. Just the texture loading times but i have a very slow(big) HD.

Hi guys, I'm an older fella looking for some teamplay, as I feel that's the only way to get the most out of the Arma series. I'm not particular about any role as long as I'm on the ground! (no piloting and stuff). I'm from Western-Europe and can speak English very well (understand and speak French, German too). I can play 4 evenings a week after 20:00 GMT and can play most sessions after 00:00 GMT (depending on my work schedule). I am an absolute noob when it comes to TS and stuff, but I'm sure we'll get that sorted out, np. Antigoon

Update fellas, I actually went out and bought the DVD version (505 games). Just installed it and applied patches. It went from .01 to .03 to .04 and .05 without a single error!! So it's definitely a problem with the downloadable version, whether or not it's caused by W7 or the other way around I can't tell. Glad to have it working though, just a bit silly I paid for it twice, but I can give the other version to a friend who uses vista, so it's not an entirely wasted purchase :o

Sorry to say, Lughnut, both your suggestions do not work for me. Booting in safe mode and setting the compatibility to XP keep giving me the exact same errors:(. I'm glad it worked for you but I guess the only thing I can try now, is to buy the game on DVD and hope that that version will work on W7. Although my previous pc was well over six years old, I do somehow feel as if I've upgraded particularly to play this game. Now seeing how much of a pita it is to get it to work and considering I'll probably have to pay for it twice, it's a disappointment really. I don't think Bohemia will develop a patch in order to fix installation problems with another patch (seems like not too many people have these issues otherwise the forum 'd be full of threads).Kind of sad:protest:

It's not something I would even think about trying ,seeing as I'm sort of a donkey when it comes to pc's(compared to most people on these forums anyways;)). One question though, you do mean booting up in windows 7 safe mode ,right? I don't have any XP or anything installed (wouldn't know how to install two OS's).

I did and it allows me to play the single player missions fine. But I still can't seem to get on any multiplayer servers, even those that don't run any mods. And I suspect these errors are the culprit. So for now it's only SP sadly.

Ok, I tried this like a zillion times and it does not work for me! Again, I have windows 7 (64bit) and bought and downloaded the game from Gamersgate, not sure whether it is the steam version or not( don't even know what steam is actually). Does anyone have another solution other then the one mentioned in the quote...? By the way, I tried to send an email to the adress given n the manual (techsupport@bistudio.com) and my mails simply don't get through. Nice support for ya, hmppff!!:mad:

I'm installing this game for the first time and I've even get these errormessages when patching to 1.04!! I'm hitting ignore for the moment, but if it'll really keep me from joining multiplay, i hope someone finds an answer to this. (mp is why i bought this game in the 1st place)

I heard there were a few graphics issues with ATI cards in the 1.14 patch, something about memory leaks, iirc. However the server I mostly play on is 1.14 and as I am about to receive a new pc with a HD 4890 card, I am wondering if this problem still exists? Or are the GCards drivers updated to eliminate this problem? (i used nVidia for the longest time so have no exp. with ATI)

First post here, hi all. I just had the opportunity to get my hands on a new pc. Don't have them exactly but here are some specs; -i7 860 processor -HD 4890 graphics card -4gb DDR3 memory 1333 -Windows 7 64bit I'm a long time Arma1 player but held off buying Arma2 because my current pc would never be able to run it! Can anyone tell me if it would be worth buying A2 with this new pc? I'm looking for playable framerates of +30 on 1280 x 1024res.

Ok, this is my first post on these forums although I have been playing Arma1 since it came out. I have decided to buy a new pc so I can finally play some decent sims (FSX and Arma2 in particular). I'm not exactly clueless when it comes to pc's but really don't know enough about them, so it's still more or less a gamble in ordering parts. Here's my initial choice; Intel® Core i7-920 Asus P6T Deluxe V2 X58 Asus ENGTX275/2DI Buffalo DIMM 6 GB DDR3-1333 Tri-Kit I think this will be able to run it, but how smooth will it be? I'm used to 10-25 fps on low-medium settings with Arma1 (p4 3.4ghz and 8800 gts 640mb) but for once would like to have some eye candy and performance for my enjoyment...:) What do you guys think and what changes/improvements should I make?
