  1. I'm waiting on delivery of an ATI Radeon HD5870 1Gb GPU and I was wondering what the consensus of opinion was on the best driver version for running Arma2 and OA. Thanks in advance.
  2. I'm building a new PC to play this game. I've got an Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) and Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard which can take up to 24Gb of ram. I should be able to OC to 4GHz quite comfortably. I'm looking to get one of the high end ATI 5900 series GPU's once the new ones come out and the price of the 5900 series drops a bit. Heres my question. I can get 4,6,8, or 12 Gb of ram either 1600MHz of 1333MHz but what amount of ram do I really need to run the game well and at what point would I have too much ram that the game would not utilise it?

No use for a name, I have been looking throught the stickies, links and posts and to a newcomer with a basic understanding of how this game works, it is like trawling through mud, but hey, thanks for the friendly advice. Warleader6 is you have the time to answer my request I would be greatfull, if not fair enough, no hassle, I'll keep trawling through the mud and get to where I'm going eventually. Just hoping you can give me a shortcut.

Warleader6 like you I am new to this game and am also loving it. If you'll excuse my "noobness" could you explain step by step what you did in the mission editor because I am do not understand what you mean by sync'ing modules but it sounds interesting. Thanks in advance.

    ArmaHolic ArmA 2 Optimization

Hi Folks first post. I recieved my Arma2 DVD a couple of weeks back. I was a big fan of the original Ofp and did not like what I read about the new Ofp and this lead me to Arma2. Now what I have seen of it so far I know I will love this game but I only have a quite low spec computer which does allow me to play the game but with a lot of the eye candy turned off or low. I've read through all 50+ pages of this thread and used a lot of the tweaks mentioned. Kudos to u guys it has helped me get the game to run reasonably but I have not tried any of the campaigns yet. I am planning a home build which will take me 4-5 months to be able to buy all the components that I want as I have other commitments (family!!) that eat into my financial stability. I have the following spec computer Intel Pentuim D dual processor 3.4 Ghz Radeon X1950 Pro 512Mb (8x AGP) 2GB Ballistix Ram Audigy Sound card Windows XP 64GB Maxtor HD My question is this: Would I see any improvement by adding an SSD hard drive as a second drive and installing the game on that drive. I would prefer to keep the OS on the original hard disk drive (less work involved and I have a lot of stuff on my HD that I don't want to lose). I was wondering if the game was installed in the SSD drive it would obviously recieve the data quicker. I noticed when I turn up the eye candy my hard drive ends up sweating like a rapist and the game stutters and stalls. I don't really want to change my Graphics card or Motherboard/Processor at this moment in time as they will be the last things I purchase for my build. So I thought buying an SSD now may help immediately and can be part of my new build as well. All thoughts and comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.
