Cant imagine how much simpler the first mission became with crew served grenade launchers! hahahaha with those bad boys in the crrc itself, I simply set up one at a strategic location near each objective and fire away to victory! UPDATE : In mission 2 where we are supposed to stop the trading of the UAV, why are there no inflatables at the extraction point? I tried swimming out to the extraction point but mission still won't end... now I am on the beach, alone, wet and wondering... please help. :)

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta *2*!
jasonnoguchi replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
To me, the ArmA2 modding community should be a free and dynamic one, not a monopolised one. I am sure the ACE2 team didn't strike out to create a monopoly. There will always be more interesting and specialised mods being released everyday and mod makers derive their satisfaction from people appreciating them for their work directly. It is definitely not the job of the ACE2 team to keep tabs on all of these mods and then suck them all in. In fact, not every mod maker wants their work being incorporated into someone else's mod too. Yes, its more convenient to have everything in one package for players and servers but who is to say that something you find really great is something someone else would totally agree as being equally good? greatness lies in the eyes of the beholder. I am still for the idea that people get to choose which "great mod" they want play along with ACE instead of being forced on them by incorporating it into ACE. Scubaman said it best: Everyone has their own idea of what is "cool" and trying to put every piece of "cool" thing into ACE is just impractical, not to mention the equally same number of people who would NOT think something is as cool as you think it is. Everyone has their own preferences, let mod playing be in the spirit of what it is designed to be... freedom, choice. I would be bored and disappointed if the day comes where the only mod playable in ArmA2 is ACE2. -
Has the 1.05 patch brought back some of the Magic

ArmA2 is the only game in the world so far that made me put together a gaming rig just to play it to the max... er.... I am saying this as a positive, not a negative. It is the only game I play now. -
Anyone else like the blood splatter in Eagle Wing?
jasonnoguchi replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
@Instagoat, you actually can see your degree of injury from your character model itself. Just go to the editor put a couple of friendly soldiers down and slowly shoot them using pistol to see the wounding graphic build up. -

jasonnoguchi replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yup, I don't understand why everyone wants contents made by other authors to be "added to ACE" at all. There is no need to as long as there are no conflicts between the mods. It makes no sense for ACE to simply become a collection of other people's mod. ACE should have their own direction and flavor. -

@randir, what Nemesis is saying is that goggles prevent mud from getting into your eyes but goggles get dirty with mud as well so it should not prevent the mud effect. -
@Woody, best to do in order so you can experience the rise and fall of the NC Cartel. :)

@Ducati, I reported my detailed findings in the GL4 thread. :) Yes, its a GL4 problem with ACE2 bipods when prone.

Group Link 4 Special FX Edition
jasonnoguchi replied to snkman's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
@SNKMAN, I found a DEADLY bug today. :) When using GL4 with bleeding feature turned on along with ACE2, you will hit yourself and eventually kill yourself if you use any MGs with red dot on bipod. Bug reproduce: Start the game with ACE2 + ACEX + GL4. Go to editor, Grab a Mk48 or Para, go prone, put it on bipod and fire away. You will see splatters of blood on the screen and if you ignore it and continue firing, you will die within about 5 seconds. I tested this without ACE2 and just ACE2 without GL4 before coming to this conclusion. In fact, the bug don't happen if you use ACE2 + GL4 in the above scenario and simply go prone without deploying the bipod. It also doesn't happen if you are using a scoped MG on bipod. Only happens with red dot sight on bipod. Yes, it doesn't happen when using just ACE2 without GL4 or using GL4 with bleeding feature turned off. (I know making GL4 work better with ACE2 probably isn't in your list of priorities. Sorry if I am bothering.) @JumpingHubert / Telik , that will be the DSAI mod you need. Trash talk according to situation in english for blufor and russian for opfor. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=92226&highlight=dsai . :) The DSAI in GL4 doesn't do trash talk, only the important talk like grenade, reloading etc. -
@Ducati, I have the same "problem" (suspect its a feature) but because I run both ACE and GL4 at all times, I am not sure where that splatter of blood came from. Only happens in prone and when weapon is on auto. Didn't look serious as it didn't really do any harm. In fact, you could use the default first aid menu option and get rid of the effects, which makes me think it might be GL4. It doesn't happen all the time either. In fact, I just rattled off a full clip of M249 prone without getting it a min ago. Are you running GL4 too? UPDATE : This is very interesting indeed.... this phenomena seems to occur only when I use any MGs with comp2 red dot sight and bipods like the mk48 and the para. And it hurts only when bipods are deployed. Were you using Mk48 or para too? Update 2: Ok, tried with only ACE and not GL4, the bleeding (which could kill you if you ignored it) didn't occur again. It is definitely a GL4 thing. Will reflect in the GL4 thread.

@norailgunner, mods are mods cos they don't necessarily adhere to the "ultimate military simulation" motto, right? hehehe.. check out the Star Wars mod and the Crusader mod... are they "military simulations"? :) Mods allows people to do whatever they want to with the platform. The "Ultimate Military Simulation" probably refers only to the Red Harvest Campaign. :) @OS, please correct me if my understanding of the direction and purpose of WarFX is wrong. :) -

@SNKMAN, are the enemies able to call in artillery eventhough no artillery pieces are on the map? I replayed the Chesty Puller Campaign today with GL4 and had artillery called in on me like anything... it was HELL ON EARTH! hahahhaha! -

Well, thats why I say, for WarFX, LET THE HOLLYWOOD ROLL!!!!! :) Turn up the explosions, turn up the dust clouds, turn up the splashes, turn up the sparks, lengthen the tracers, lets aim for FX that rivals HOLLYWOOD!!! :) GO OS GO!!! Hardcore FX lovers like me wants nothing less than 50 megs of muzzle flash, AM I RIGHT FANS??? :) -
@Tonci, yes, the Mi-8...hehehe it doesn't get blown IF you get right back in after the auto disembark. :) Go try. :) just pop right back into the pilot seat and then rain hell on all of them... ok, all the friendlies gets killed too but at least you win...hehehehe
-
I did... lowered reinforcement distance to 100m. :) Still aggressive as hell!!! Even lowered advancing for non-surpressed weapons to 400m. Just finished the rescue mission, recruited 2 AAVs onto my side along with a secret help, SKYE, hidden in the hill north of the objective area (wonder why Bardosy hid Skye alone up in that hill in that mission, any purpose? :) )! Even with all that help, enemies were once again raining artillery from god knows where onto us and pouring onto us like tidal waves! In the end, we sacrificed 7 men just to save that 6 men...sigh... JESUS, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL OF YOU PLAY OR REPLAY THIS CAMPAIGN USING GL4!!!! ITS A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!!! Artilleries, Reinforcements, Auto CAS, Everything you never got before, its all activated in this campaign! (yes, even friendly reinforcements! GL4 was clearly designed with big scale combats such as these in mind!) One advise, always keep your ammo truck close... you WILL need it!

hahaha, I am stuck at the chopper mission as well. Just suck at air craft fighting especially when there are infantries firing shit at me...ahhahaa

Replayed FORCE RECON mission with GL4 and the assault on Pavlovo was HELL ON EARTH!!!! Enemies were being called in from all directions, wave after wave of enemies poured themselves on us, overrunning our position with URALs and all the vehicles they could get their hands on and constant artillery bombing from God knows where!!! Geez, I don't remember seeing any artillery pieces on the map anywhere but artillery were raining down on our positions so often we cannot stay in one place for too long... ended up with only 4 survivors on my side...geez!!!!

Anyone Here Using Programmable Keyboard for ArmA2?
jasonnoguchi replied to jasonnoguchi's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I was considering the saitek and the n52te too but considering the fact that I use trackir (so I don't need a freelook button), flight stick (so I don't need hat buttons on my keyboard) and a gaming mouse (so I don't need additional buttons or scroll wheels on my keyboard), I found them quite the pad with only a few usable buttons. Another problem with both gamepads is that it lacks the number and F buttons which are critical to AI control in ArmA2. So you still have to leave the gamepad and reach for a keyboard since those keys cannot be remapped in ArmA2. that really defeats the purpose for me. -
@Manzilla, try the mag check again with your default SIT button (not salute). I experienced the problem where if I remap that button, the message won't show up.
