  1. Thanks for all your help. I ran around in the LAV for a long time using the number 2 button which calls out everything in range like animals, vehicles and enemies. I found the leader after 20 minutes of using this method, he was walking alone through the woods on the right side of the base (The base was located near the dam) and he was near a small shack hidden deep within these woods nearby some spots that have clearings without trees. I didn't even know it was him when I saw that I had an officer on my list of contacts I called him out and the gunner shot in his direction. Luckily his spot was marked on the map after I did this and I ran to him and managed to finish the mission. I really hope he is supposed to be near this shack when the base is close to the dam and not just randomly running around anywhere otherwise it will always be a reall pain to try to locate him if he's not in the base. Anyway thanks again!
  2. Thanks for the tip. I've tried running around the forests all around the base and never found anything. So the leader sometimes wanders back to the base? I guess I could park nearby and accelerate time and see if that works. Is there a specific area the leader goes? My problem with the chopper seemed to come from the main base as there is an AA guy who fires rockets at it when it flew over the base on its way to the LZ. I saw the rocket erupt from the ground several times and hit the chopper; sometimes the chopper crashed and exploded, sometimes it landed damaged and the pilots ran out of it, but always the chopper couldn't get back on the air. My resolution was to bombard the base with artillery before calling the chopper and that seemed to do the trick as the chopper flew over the base without any problems and reached us. I've never had the problem of Shaftoe being dead yet. So hopefully this issue won't come up. Anyway thanks again for the advise, if anyone else has any ideas I appreciate it. This is the only thing remaining for me to finish the entire mission.
  3. This is extremely frustrating. I had tried multiple times to finish this mission but I was running into problems with escorting the prisoner to the chopper pick up because the main enemy base was directly under the flight path of the chopper and it always was shot down. So I decided to restart the mission all over again and this time I was able to complete all of the smaller tasks since the main base was now appears near the dam and the chopper isn't shot down when picking up the woman. I left the main base and leader for last and here is where I am now completely stuck. The first game I was playing this mission (When I had the chopper shot down trouble) the leader was inside the base. When I destroyed the base, I killed the leader no problem. Now is a different story though. I destroyed the enemy base just fine but the leader is not in the base anywhere; I searched every body and there is nothing. Cooper even went on the radio to say he completed a sweep of the base and that the leader is not there. Shaftoe tells me to keep hunting for the leader somewhere else but there is no sign of the leader anywhere. I searched the woods on all the sides of the base, even made my way down to the nearest town (Where Dr. Sova was) and to the other location where the base spawns and nothing. How the hell do I find this leader now? There are no clues ingame where he could be, no leads, nothing. Can anyone who went through something similar give me any tips? Thanks!
  4. I found the van just sitting there parked in the northern most row of houses in Kraznostav, at least it looks like it as it is a white Coyota, but no one is around and I can't enter any of the houses so I have no idea what to do. I've been at it for 2 days without any success on this part.

    Manhattan - Escort to LZ

I had a huge problem with this part of the mission for a couple of days, but here is what I did to resolve it. I was on my way to see if I could identify the woman's car and stop her when by pure miracle I bumped into her walking on the road between 2 towns. I was expecting her to be in the car so I thought it wouldn't be the target but she looked like the picture and when I got out of my LAV-25 I arrested her. When I reached the LZ I was attacked by the enemy cars but the chopper never made it. I saw it "land" in the distance and when I reached it a bit away from the LZ it simply was landed on the grass with the pilots inside. I redid this mission about 9 times between 2 days worth of playthroughs but it wasn't halfway through the playthroughs that I noticed that it was the chopper being shot down, sometimes they would land without being destroyed but never would take off again. I also noticed that the attacks were coming from the Chedaki main base which the chopper flies directly over. It took me 3 tries but I used an artillery strike on the main base and that allowed the chopper not to get hit by fire as it came to pick up the girl. In fact the chopper actually attacked a couple of vehicles in the base and then managed to swing around and pick up the girl without problems. I then turned my full attention at attacking the base which fortunately for me 3 M1A2 Tusks appeared and joined me in the fight. It wa awesome. I hope that might help any of you if you are in a similar problem to what I had.

    Into the Storm

Hi jeffroland, The part I'm talking about is the very last part of the first mission. After you destroy the radio truck in Pusta, escort the hostages to the cabin and reach the extraction point at Point Madison, you will receive a call from Battlemage asking whether you can help the invasion of the beach with the laser marker. If you decline, you move onto the next mission Amphibious Assault; if you have the laser marker and accept the mission, the squad is directed to the peak of a mountain, from there you are instructed to laser 3 targets 1 by 1 for bombers to hit. The first target is a large house which serves as a Chedaki field HQ and an operative on the ground has marked with red smoke. The second is an ZSU-23 Anti-Aircraft Shilka self propelled gun platform being hidden under a camouflage camel net. The third target is a T-72 tank which patrols a street. Apparently you have to destroy each of these exactly in that order or the mission end will not trigger. Problem was I did do them in order and the mission didn't end so I was confused as to what I did wrong. I still don't know if removing the mods was the reason for fixing the mission, since I would need to restart it just to have those changes take effect or if I just needed to restart the mission from scratch at all without removing the mods. Or even if I fixed it by escorting Dr. Sova to the cabin first and then Valentina as I would always escort them together and each is marked as a different task. Nonetheless restarting the mission seems to have fixed it. I'm currently in mission 3 hunting the sniper but the lag almost paralizes my computer and I had to take everything down to low settings just to be able to run through Cherno. I'm gonna have to buy at least aother gig of RAM, can't really enjoy a lot of the game as it is right now sigh.

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. Since I had no idea whether the mods were the cause or not, probably not but I deleted them anyway, I did restart the mission just in case. This time the mission did complete successfully so I don't know if the mods were an issue or if it was some random weirdness. The only thing I did different was I escorted the doctor by himself to the cabin first and then escorted the woman after. Before I would take them to the cabin at the same time. Don't know if that had anything to do with it since the game is a bit borked about completing tasks in order sometimes? Tech support sent me an e-mail stating that they know that part of the mission has problems and that it is on a wishlist for a fix for a future patch. @jeffroland: How would I go into the town in mission 1? Doesn't the squad go through the town in the next mission Amphibious Assault?

    Into the Storm

@Alex72: No I started the game from the very beginning with the latest released 1.04 patch, I acquired the game for the first time barely 4 days ago. Would mods perhaps be a problem? I had 2 mods from armaholic.com active via the Arma 2 launcher which added new weapons to the game and a second which unlocks additional units that exist but are hidden within the game. They are called: 1) FFAA Weapons 1.1 (Adds new weapons) 2) Extra Units and Vehicles (Unlocks vanilla vehicles and weapons hidden within the game that weren't accessible) I have since deleted those mods in case they were the problem. However if its similar to having a new patch, then I'll have to restart the mission over again. @jeffroland: I did not go down to the town after I destroyed the targets, I remained on the mountain awaiting orders or like the walkthrough I read stated for Miles to speak to me which he doesn't. I can see from the mountain that there are numerous patrols of enemy soldiers on foot throughout the valley, usually in groups of 2 or 4, but I can't engage them unless I climb down the mountain. I have not seen any civilians. I will attempt a complete restart of the mission now that I deleted the 2 mods just in case one or both were causing the issue and the earlier checkpoint saves weren't enough to fix the problem. Thanks for any other ideas you can come up with and all your help; I'll retry the mission again tonight and post if I had any success by tomorrow.

When I arrive at the peak of the mountain I receive a task that tells me to use the laser marker to target vehicles for missile attacks. I then receive each target individually in order as a brand new task; a house, a AA gun beneath a net and finally a moving T-72 tank. I proceed to target each of these in order and they are all destroyed. The individual tasks (House, net gun, tank) are marked complete while the original task that simply says use laser marker to target enemies as called by radio is greyed out. I then return to Miles at the top of the peak and he does nothing nor say nothing. Every once in a while he'll say the area is clear or if I ask his position he will tell me the coordinates. But aside of this he just stands there. I have repeated the part of the mission with the laser 7 times with no change. Twice it was from an even earlier save where we rallied at the extraction point and they ask me whether I want to do the laser mission or not. Every time the result is the same. I haven't a clue what I did wrong, if anything. If you can think of something I appreciate the help. Thanks!

I want to blow them up with the laser and do this part of the mission, I do not want to skip it. I'm just clueless as to why the mission doesn't end since I do target them in the correct order. I tried e-mailing their tech support and I got a failure to deliver message. This really sucks sigh. If anyone has any clues what I could do different I appreciate it. Thanks!

    Into the Storm

I'm extremely stuck in this mission. I lasered all the targets in the correct order and each one of the tasks was completed. I go back to Miles and nothing happens, he just stands there or goes back into prone position occassionally. There is a task which says designate laser targets or something beneath each individual target I lasered but this option is greyed out and does nothing. I've tried everything I can think off, reverting to various saves before lasering and going through it over and over in the correct order: house, net-AA gun, moving tank; going back to Miles does nothing. I also completed every single objective in the tasks list before this except ordering the air strike since I used the satchel charges. If I skip the lasering tasks I can move onto mission 2 but if I do the laser missions it simply does nothing. Does anyone have any clues outside of targetting them in order which I already did? I'm using patch 1.04 Thanks
