  1. Its ok thanks I reinstalled aafter deleting all the residual folders and that seems to have fixed it cheers.
  2. I am getting very low speech volume in my game from my leader/lead vehicle. The radio seems to have a lot of static, it beeps fine at the end of each transmission but the actual words are really inaudible (I can hear them - but only just). My previous installation was fine but I had to reinstall the game for some reason (cant remember why). Now I cant hear my instructions from my leader or the other soldiers either it seems. Now I did install it a yesterday, changed some settings and then got two error messages come up that prevented me from playing the game. So I took everything off and reinstalled the whole lot (ARMA 2, OpArrow, British, Czech, and the other one) to no avail. I am wondering if those error messages were to do with sounds although I think it was only the graphics settings I changed. Either way now I cant hear a thing. Anyone else had this and how did you fix it? I have an old Audigy 2 soundcard with Win 7 64bit and Nvidea Ti550 card, Cant say Ive noticed any problems with any other games at all.
  3. Yes it is but I like playing the game as a simulation which is what it is advertised as - not as a strategy game. I would like to be able to control the vehicles from inside and with a bit more information such as a radar in the gunner station and a hull and turret icon for each vehicle I would probably be able to do it. But like I say all the vehicles are different - does make them quite interesting for the few minutes that you last until you get into a hot zone and get blown up because you cant see anything or do anything quickly enough. Vehicles are a mess in this game - and have always been. Was really hoping BI would have addressed this by now. But its all irrelevant if they cant get the graphic sharding sorted becuase I will be taking it back to the shop in a few days anyway. Shame real shame.
  4. Been trying a user mission Airfield Attack or soemthing with BDRMs and I just am at a loss how to control the BDRM with anything other than being in the driver seat or providing waypoints all the time. Its impossible to tell whcih way the turret is facing or the vehicle is facing. The drive controls are difficult to move around with. Its about time BI started making these vehicles easy to control and with a reasonable standard between them all. At the moment every one seems different and some are far better than others to play with. Perosnally I hate using waypoints I would love to be able to stay in the gunner station and be allocated targets by the commander and control the vehicle movement at the same time - but the game just doesnt seem to allow that. Play the gunner and you have no idea where any targets are. You cant control the movement of some of the vehicles like the BDRM from the commander seat either as theres no way to know which way you are facing. And unless I learn russian I am hard presed in a fight to know what the hell is going on either. We speak English here you know - would it have been difficult to add in the of English speaking Russians? Vehicles in ARMA2 are just all a bit of a mess arent they?
  5. Ive voted for I like the game but the fun is being sucked out. Apart from a couple of crashes my main issue at the moment is all the graphics sharding that I get with my 4850 graphics card - makes the game unplayable and I am verging on taking it back for a refund. I like the gameplay and loved OFP, the graphics are certainly better but I cant help feeling that Ive seen much of this game before and the same issues are there - unwieldy vehicle controls, lack of abilitiy to play as a gunner in the vehicles as you get no targetting feedback, the BDRM particularly is a complete joke - impossible to control in anything other than the driver seat, the helicopters are better and the planes are surprisingly good fun even without a joystick. But they could have improved the control of the land vehicles a lot. And trying to get vehciles to follow you or follow orders is touch and go - you never really feel in control of the game. These are my concerns but at the moment its the graphics sharding that is the big killer for me.
  6. Im very glad that others have this problem with ARMA2 because I have been going spare about it - been messing about with the settings in ARMA2 for ages trying differnet things and still get all these graphics shards around - never had a game where its this bad before, Fallout 3 has a few minor issues. I took my 4870 card back and got a 4850 because it was crashing all the time and now this with the 4850 - dont card manufacturers test their products properly these days or something? This is the kind of thing that pushes people to the consoles.
  7. Any great tank battle missions or helicopter strike missions around? And any strategies in using tanks? I tried the Heavy Metal original OFP mission and couldnt get my fellow tanks to follow me at all or accept that I was the leader until I did something and then they followed but I dont know what I did! Why is it that they sometimes do what you say and sometimes dont? And what is the best way to use tanks - stay in the commander chair? As gunner I find it very difficult to find targets before they get me - you would think the commander would mark them on the screen for me to fire at but he doesnt seem to. These issues have been in the game since OFP or is it just me?
  8. I think this is great but would like to use APCs or tanks instead of infantry is there any way to do that? Can I edit it in the editor? Is there a similar mission building thing to this that does use tanks so I can try out some massive tank battles?

    Grand Battle missions

This is what BI really need to release - a whole load of missions in which you are a grunt taking part in a massive war and series of engagements without any of the commander rubbish getting in the way. I also really like it when they leave a few vehicles around that you can get in and use if you want. That makes for a brilliant mission. I am not interested in campaigns etc all I want is some grand battles!! I also love massive tank battles. Imagine if they designed a massive tank battle in which you were one helicopter attacking thema t the same time as they were fighting getting allocated targets by a FAC that would be fantastic. These are the kind of mission I really want to see!!
  10. Although I think these missions are great and they are really appreciated by far my favourite mission was always Battlefields. You have captured the general flavour apart from the fact its Russians attacking not Americans, but my main gripe is that it ends too quickly - I am just starting to get into the counterattack and it ends with all enemies have been killed. The battlefield mission had a massive counterattack with several waves incl BMPs could this not be implemented at all? I love playing missions in which you are just a grunt part of a huge battle. Lets have more of these !!
