    Changing environment due to pollution

Yes environments change, also the continents constantly shift and change. Heck the Sea of Cortez grows wider by i think something like a few CM per year. A single Volcano is more likely to damage the environment far more then man could do in 30 years. One explosion does more damage then man. Billions of years ago there were no oceans, only volcanoes and big deep puddles of sulfur laden water where no oxygen existed. Oxygen levels have changed many times over the course of this planets history. If people are so stupid to think that man can have a large impact on the planet vs what this planet has already gone through.. well keep on buying into this gimmicky liberal trash. I wont, and I wont change my habits or ways. I'll continue on doing what I do and living a life that is comfortable for me. This is all one large cyle that has happened many times, geologic studies have proven this but people ignore the truth even when it is right in there face. You can look at temperature and snowfall records for the last 50 years and see periods in which temperatures were increasingly warmer, or colder. It will always change and as humans we have to adapt to the change instead of attempt to negate and change it (we will fail if we try to change what is natural evolution)

It looks like a warfilm!! (Video of CMSF game)

I always thought it just got more ridiculous. The further away from the ground you moved in the COC the less involved staff seemed to be. Making decisions that are already modified by the time they hit ground level. And even then squads are modifying the OP to fit their needs. SOP is a basic and i mean very basic guideline. Procedure is always modified beyond initial orders as typically the higher up the COC you climb the more contempt you find for those on the ground.

New Medal of Honor game trailer

I think it will be a fun break from the seriousness of sims and real life activities. Believe it or not, some people enjoy breaks from serious stuff for a bit of fun.

It looks like a warfilm!! (Video of CMSF game)

What I love in this thread are the staunch individuals who have hard on's for only BIS games. CMSF is indeed an excellent COC simulation. BIS titles have major flaws, as does CMSF. Anybody who thinks either are perfect do not belong anywhere near real weaponry. I mean really, look at the BIS flight model its a complete joke, look at rocks magically launching tanks into the air. Nothing is perfect and each title offers its benefit depending on what you want to do. Me, lots of neat situations you can come up with in the editors of ARMA and ARMA II. So it will always win hands down, but during downtime I still enjoy CMSF.

    Porting ArmA1 addons to ArmA2

Now I may be entirely incorrect in my assumption here. But if it has to deal with textures i wonder if there is a difference between the two engines and material naming? I know very little about ARMA II and ARMA conversion as i just started doing it two days ago. But i know with other games when going from engine to engine material settings and alpha channels all being setup for the old engine and not updated to the new may cause issues. Of course like i said i'm likely entirely incorrect here but it was just a thought.

    Final release of CAA1

This project has undoubtedly changed ARMA II. Without it even me as a relatively new user to ARMA II would be lost. I've been working to learn a few days converting some user missions form ARMA and have learned a lot. Without what you do this would not be possible. Yes BIS should have stood behind you, just like BIS should haved fixed the 8 gigs of ram issue with their game far before this most recent patch. Without this community where would BIS be? If nobody was doing missions, mods, addons would BIS be successful? No they would have failed long ago. It is people like you, and other modders and content creators who keep BIS afloat and it is about time they take notice of your talent and support you in what you do. So thank you for all your hard work, and I can hope you are able to spend more time enjoying the fruits of your labor instead of continuously supporting a sometimes ungrateful entity.

    ArmA 2 Game Launcher

Yea it is different, i was able to get around it by combining folders for certain things for the time being, i refuse to use any other launcher as your grouping makes it well.. fantastic and functional. Thank you for looking into it.
  8. Ahh cool, thanks for that info.. Great work on this by the way, blur annoys the piss outta me.

    ArmA 2 Game Launcher

This is a great tool, but maybe I have found a limitation? I am very anal about splitting up my mod folders and grouping. So much so as they are broken down into weapons, vehicles and units then sub divided by nationality UK AUS, US, RU, Polish, CA, Opfor Same with vehicles and weapons What i have found is when i begin to add too many groups the launcher crashes and resets itself showing nothing in the group. Is this common?
  10. Is v4 being worked on? I'm using 1.05 and unsure if V3 works with it.

    CAA1 public release

Yea thank you, that did the trick. Sadly the map has weird shadowing that flickers :( Guess i just have to hope somebody will port some of these maps with texture issues over or explains how to fix these issues, i went through the wiki as I have some free time the next few weeks but cannot locate anything that explains how to solve them oh well, already have enough content to keep me busy in arma ii and arma for years.

    CAA1 public release

I dunno if i can be of any help, but i use a different launcher i think. The Arma II launcher by spirited machine seems to work fine, It allows me to use all the mod folders metod but then create specific groups that can be launched together or independenty depending on selection. I have found it to be the better launcher as far as flexibility and not come into any issues "yet"

    CAA1 public release

Ok my related issue has to do with the sound folder so i'm assuming there is a readme i need to find. And i searched this forum, and i hope nobody chews me out. I wanted to use a farmlands map from ARMA1 in Arma2 using CAA1 When I load the particular map it gives me an error message about requiring version 1.14 - Now I'm aware i need to extract the config and rename the version.. but i'm confused as to one version i need to rename it too?

    CAA1 public release

Hi all, Not really had any issues with older CAA1 but i've not run updater for a very long time. So i ran it tonight, grabbed all the newer OAC, OFPIP and CAA1 files. Now this does not appear to be a big issue and at first I thought it had to do with CBA but it does not appear to be the issue as i get the error with CAA1 enabled. I get the messged Extended_Eventhandlers requires addon CAMusic I'm kinda confused as to why im getting this. Any help would be appreciated.

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

What 64 bit issues? The issue is 8 gb ram addressing with 7 gigs limited the game works fine and works perfect in a 64 bit environment. I would say the ram issues is not a compatibility issue with 64 bit but the way the game see's memory overall.

    Bad things about Arma2

Its kinda funny, I play this "game" to get away from the realities of work and life. I personally think BIS did a tremendous job at keeping it challenging, real enough and fun enough for those who have actually had a chance to fire the arms depicted in the game that we can enjoy it. The AI is actually very smart and I prefer it over a lot of my online experience. In fact with some of the small AI mods this game has become incredible in terms of pulling me away from life and the horrors that exist in it. And lughnut - damn right about Jessica Rabbit :P

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Why even factor in DX10 though.. DX11 has a new streamlined method of apporach with teselation that has seen devs jump over to 11. We will see more 11 then we did with DX10. The way DX11 has been designed this time around makes it very attractive and approachable for developers. And a note on the 64bit vs 32 bit app management. It always makes more sense to use a 64 bit OS - Comparability is nearly non existent in terms of issues. Due to the 32 bit emulation in 7 - I have not yet found a single program that does not work the way it is intended in a 64 bit environment. Memory management is quite refined in 7 as well.. The advantage to 6+ gigs of ram is seen within the environment itself. When you offload 64 bit application memory usage to banks not used by the 32 bit app you free up more ram for the 32 bit application to use. So by using a combination of both you are always using your memory to your benefit. Many XP users use programs to limit services for "memory conservation" or use applications that kill off the gui and all services to free up memory. It is quite amusing because in a 64 bit environment - You generally do not need to do this since the OS memory usage itself can use the memory that your 32 bit application does not.
  18. Very cool, thanks man.
  19. Why do you have HDR and Shading settings? Is this a seperate mod? I like some of the blur but glowing animals are annoying : D :D And thanks for the tweaks will try them out, much appreciated bud.

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Ya know i just defended BIS earlier but now even I am kinda frustrated, my new memory came today. I do a lot of PS work which is memory intensive so i upgraded from 4gb to 8gb ram. Yea missing textures. I just want to know: Is this actually being worked on? The winxp config line does not work for me so I just pulled out one 2 gig stick and gave it to my brother. So down to 6 gigs now and its just fine.

Ok, this is an alarming discovery.

With all the negativity it is a shame to see what appears to be ignorance by people such as the member formerly known as Langnasen. Being new and reading quite a bit on this forum I have found what appears to be a developer that cares about its community, provides multiple patches, support and even beta patches and listens to community feedback and incorporates that into their titles. This to me seems to be a rarity in terms of what dev's do for their customers. When you think of the grand scale of this title and what it offers it cannot be compared to any thing out there and it is completely unfair to BIS to compare it to "cod" type of titles in terms of the style of game that it is. I only wished other companies developed and supported their product like BIS did.

Ok, this is an alarming discovery.

Interesting, I'm new to this forum and all i see is a moderator doing his job not playing favorites and adhering to rules as they are stated when you sign up. I see no blatant manipulation or concise action on his part to belittle or impartially judge you based on your post alone. He simply adheres to his job as a moderator and as such I would expect the same action from him to me should i take on the attitude and overall arguementative and demeaning tone that you have presented to other members and moderation here. I'm new to ARMA - Just bought ARMA 1 after buying ARMA II as i like ARMA II so much and they run fine for me.

Ok, this is an alarming discovery.

This thread is funny. I have an X3 720 at 3.5 and a 4870 and i get better frames then you with every thing on very high except for shadows and post process (because i hate hdr mainly) There is another thread here about SSD drives and performance gains and that thread is 100% accurate. I have my game installed on a SSD and i was amazed to see so many people talk about performance here as my game is pretty fluid. I'm really thinking disk drives have a lot to do with performance and the CPU obviously helps, this game accurately utilized multie core processors and your Proc just isnt cutting it. You can have your cake and eat it to in a market like this but it takes more then what your throwing at it.
  24. So I live in house in which we have 3 Gaming PC's - My brother's, The Media PC and My Gaming RIG. My brother buys some titles with co-op and I buy the others (just bear with me here) So lets say for example, Me,My brother and My Roomate the other night played OFP2 DR via one DVD across the network without issue. I cannot afford to spend another $60 for the game on the Media Center and since my brother picked up the last co-op title i picked up ARMA II in hopes that we could co-op I've attempted on the Media Center to get ARMA II to view a shared dvd drive after the installation however it keeps giving me the insert dvd message. Now I know there are other methods to bypass this but I'd rather not revert to what may be considered illegal and cannot be discussed here (i assume) We all want to play ARMA II across the network using the 3 PC's but with only one disk the only way I can do this is via the shared network drive. Also since i'm new - does the co-op do an independant cd key check? Meaning although my install is fine and log's into the servers if we are playing 3 way co-op do i ultimately need to go buy this product two more times or can i use the same disk? Thanks a ton for any answers, as always the help is greatly appreciated.

    I guess I'm just too nice :D
