20 games that will make or break 2014

To be honest, I think it might be a bit late while many awaited games were already released in 2014. How many months are left? 4? Meh. Not much gonna happen in the next 4 months... thus let's think about what we may get up to December 2015. - GTA V (no reason to explain) - The Division (obvious, but the one I've the most trust issues due to Ubisoft's nature) - Ground Branch (the proper revival of the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon legacy. Already looking great and my buddies help it look even better) - Firebound (RTW, think Men Of War, but more in-depth and modern day) - Hellraid (Dead Island's meeting Diablo. Fantasy FPS slasher, few different classes, medieval weapons and fighting style, including shields, think along the lines of Dark Messiah of M&M) - Dying Light (the sequel to Dead Island & Riptide FPS slashers, including free running and a refreshed concept. One of the most anticipated for me) - Dead Island 2 (am I being a bit monothematic? :D direct sequel made by people who made Spec Ops The Line, set in California. I'm curious what might come out of it, esp. given the setting) - Far Cry 4 (because all Far Cry's were really great games and my personal favourites. That title alone gives me any hope I have left for Ubi titles) - CoD: Advanced Warfare (it might be the one to determine whether many players will still trust Activision or not, Ghosts were a big miss. Also, Kevin Spacey...) - Call to Arms (basically a modern-day Men Of War, by the developers who made Assault Squad) - Jagged Alliance: Flashback (proper Jagged Alliance revival, not that POS real-time bullshit spat out lately) - The Witcher 3 (obvious) - Assasin Creed: Unity (Coop, and only for that, as IMO the series reached the peak at AC3 and Black Flag) - new Close Combat (set in 3D, which might finally broke the monopoly of the Combat Mission series) Also, I count on some indie titles \ mods to show up, like Traction Wars, Firearms: Source, WW1 Source, Project Reality standalone; and there's some interesting DLC's coming for Payday 2 (so goddamn addicting) and some broken beta-state game I keep hearing about, called Farma 3 or something. What I was waiting for in 2014: - Insurgency (great) - Wolfenstein (good) - Enemy Front (ok, a bit jaggy) - Men Of War Ass Squad 2 (A mission pack for what, 30 USD? meeeh) - Takedown: Red Sabre (I really tried. But it's broken and abandoned. meeeh) - Watch Dogs (Retarded PR, console and mod policy, dull gameplay. bleeeh) BF: Hardline will suck, but everybody already knows this, same with Rainbow Sux: Lies.
  2. Answering to the question in the title... Well I don't know man. That's really strange. I mean, there's nothing hard in it and somehow we still don't live in a utopia, but in poverty and violence stricken world. How's that even possible? Imagine all the modders...

    CoD: Advanced Warfare

Dunno why anyone is saying kids love future setting. I don't think they do, modern warfare and ak47 + acog is still what would sell best. But hey, You know. ArmA3 showed the way. It's all BIS' fault Yet, Kevin Spacey. I will like to see it just for him, even tho in terms of design A3 seems like a masterpiece compared to this POS. Well everything does. Everything did it better. Chrome, Crysis, Planetside, EYE...

    ASM - Arma Samples Mod

Why won't use Reyhard's addon for that?

    Ivory Aircraft

Had no problems with using it in-game, even with ton of addons.

    Best Virtual Supply Box?

I know exactly what You mean, but TBH, the missions themselves are plagued by much more important problems: - FPS issues (#loopEvery0.001secLikeAMofo) - Balancing issues (Enemy skill 1.0! YAAAY!) - JIP problems (dude, where's my uniform?) - 4 man army (take over 5 towns and kill 10 tanks) - That sometimes they don't even work, at all And one of the bigger problems for me: Steam Workshop by itself. Game used to freeze in main menu if Steam had connection issues (DDoS, for example) and also I don't think most of the remote server UI's feature access to SW, You have to subscribe to the mission on client SW, download the mission, copy it and finally upload it to the server. Or maybe am I missing something? All in all, where are the direct links, like the old times, eh? ;/

    Best Virtual Supply Box?

Pretty much what SPIDY said. You can limit the equipment available in both VAS and in the VTS Shop. Yeah, it does have a bit to do with "laziness" and "gun porn" and I'm afraid I'm not a kid anymore (sometimes I wish I would be). See... ArmA is about options. Yeah, You can go full hardcore mission with "hardcoded" equipment, launch and go, but sometimes, esp. in more dynamic missions, You wish to have some OPTIONS, so it doesn't always play the same. And that doesn't have to necessarily mean You can have every gun in the game. Especially organized groups often use it to just load the right loadout, just like we do. You can limit the box, or the people (as a TL \ Game Master). It's been more than 10 years without proper loadout editor (in-game, not an external one) and without 3D editor. If BI can, I have the even bigger right to be a little lazy. And judging from what people say, my missions weren't any less playable or less realistic. PS: in ArmA2 every mission I did, had assigned EQ and the way to change it in the briefing. With ArmA3 and all the problems restocking units arise and with no ability to change stuff at the briefing screen, I just gave up. Not interested in losing too much sanity and time for stuff that can be done way easier.

    open Helikopter doors?

Don't count on that last feature.
  10. My favourite change is the ability to switch units in 3D editor mode. I have a question tho, L'etranger - maybe others already asked (I wouldn't be surprised), if so, I'm sorry - any chance You could someday release VTS "Shop" standalone, like VAS, as a "plug and play" script? It's pretty much the best system available and it's just a big pity we can't use it outside of You great mission... It's just sometimes it's nice to sometime play something else (without respawns \ revives, like many groups do) :P

    Best Virtual Supply Box?

VTS "Shop" hands down. VAS likes to fail to intilize and the main categories load stutter with bigger amount of addons (gear section is a horror). Oh, and it doesn't have a real filter and when You have like 15 versions of AK-47 and alike, tapping A then K doesn't help much. VTS Shop, on the other hand: - has all the features VAS has, - never fails to initilize, - doesn't lag, - more loadout slots; also, You can load someones loadout without the need to have him "transfer" it, - bigger UI, You can see pictures better, - really great filter, - did I already mention, it does not lag? VTS Shop has only one big minus. It can't be used outside of VTS. L'etranger pls.

    ASM - Arma Samples Mod

I think someone spoke about that problem in Keeway's Volha topic.

    Flares = Useless?

Flares in A2 were pretty much useless, esp. with ACE, afair. In A3... are You kidding me? These are great. The dog(e)fights never been so great. I've been able to dodge 3 incoming AA rockets at the same time. How "not useless" is this, hm?
  14. ACPL Jon

    Ivory Aircraft

    Thanks for the F-15 man! You're a hero! Can't wait for the Mig-29 :)
  15. Are You kidding me?! Shadow Warrior. 10/10 on Wangometer! Not to mention - EYE Divine Cybermancy, Far Cry 3, Max Payne 3, Bioshock? (not that old)
  16. Not if You'll get to meet The Almighty Trench Gun or a friggin Flamethrower.

    Best Vietnam War FPS?

    Sadly, I don't know.
  18. Whoever doesn't take the best tac shooter after ArmA 2 \ 3 for free is plain stupid! GO GET'EM BOYS
  19. Hey Kaelis; There's few versions of G3. The longest ones (the basic G3A3 and G3A4) doesn't support any attachments, sadly - I had to use the shorter, railed versions. Also, totally btw, isn't the G3 a bit too thin? And could we get the long version of FN FAL? About that reload; I've meant the FN FAL (short)'s one. I think it would fit the G3 just as tacticool.
  20. Tease :P All I can say is that... watch?v=ZO6vmXtwiSc
  21. Hey Kaelis, great work :) You don't cease to amaze. Yet, is there any chance G3 would get sexy FAL reload animations? And could we get long gun versions (and short FAL as well) with rails, too?
  22. Yeah, the leader of the FragOut studios is the author of both SMK anims and animations in A3. AFAIR they never said they are changing their plans from what was planned before: both SP and MP with strong Coop and PvP sides, mod tools \ SDK, most or everything open for modding. AI wasn't discussed heavily, around the Kickstarter pledge they mentioned that if they hit certain amount of cash they'd buy one of the external solutions for semi-autonomic AI (or something close to that). But nothing solid IIRC. It's just that priorities shifted and IMO the faster they can get a decent funding and backup from some extra developers, the faster we'll be at the point where the AI will come into play.

    Happy Easter

I would like to wish all of You guys happy easter. May the life be easy on and for You, may You get as much joy and happiness out of said life. Wish You all the best, so that Your dreams fulfill and Your health and loving ones never leave You. And of course, the magic of optimalization and Your rig giving You 120 FPS on Ultra-High with 16x AA. Have a happy easter guys.
  24. Also, AFAIR, Reyhard said it's a common problem and it isn't fixable. +1 to what Damian said.
