  1. We managed to fix the server. Screwed up cfg. Sorry for bothering.
  2. Try that with vanilla ArmA3.Generally speaking, after A3 changed from GameSpy to Steamworks, You can forget about easy hosting without port forwarding. So I'd "blame" A3*. *or rather their Steamworks setup @Kju Thanks for the response. So far, we've reuploaded whole mod again on the server, tried it with and without additional addons, checked how the server runs on vanilla and our typical modset and until we launch IF everything seems fine. Like I said, only happens with IF, we're trying with no missions now.

    True, my bad - fixed.
  4. We'll most likely have to wait for Invasion'44 for that. No reason for them to double the work.
  5. Niki, I think we all have russian flag over Ami's in the editor. The mod is great and I can't wait to see it evolve further. Right now it really thrusted some interest into our ArmA gaming group - many people missed our I44 setup. You did great job guys and thank You for that. In the meantime tho, as I heard You already know about some problems (like the explosives that does not work) I have only one, but important question - does anyone have a problem launching a working dedicated server with lite version? We did so even without any other, 3rd party addons, the server is visible, but You can't do anything on it. It seems to log the people who join, but the server seems "stuck", as You can't write anything in the chat and nothing happens. RPT doesn't show any errors. Any ideas, solutions?

Payday: The Heist The game will be fully free (to install and keep) on 16th of October. It's a giveway, like Valve did with L4D2 on Christmas. (bad grammar, isn't it?) It's not half as good as the 2nd one, but it's pretty neat nevertheless. ...and it's free! http://www.overkillsoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Crimefest-image_pdth_free.jpg (105 kB) http://store.steampowered.com/app/24240/ Associated with Payday's Community event called Crimefest.

    Squad (PR:BF2 Devs)

Decent Frames per Second ;-) And most probably it will be a lot better in PvP thing. ArmA3 did a lot things better, BUT it will never reach the level of epicness of BF2: Project Reality. Many firefights in PR looked like straight outta Funker videos. As a milsim unit we sometimes got close to that kind of feeling with our ArmA2 scenarios, but it never went as far as it goes in PR. The immersion is amazing and simply like in no other game, many fights on Fallujah, Kokan or even in La Drang even after few years remain on the tongues of my teammates. Well, one thing was great for sure (apart from amazing maps and great logistic system): the way enemy behaved. Best AI in gaming? Not exactly. The enemy was always human. And when there's no simple "I can just headshot them faster" solution and both the map and the asset layout force asymetric warfare, it tends to produce some great actions & reactions (panic, retreats, bayonet charge, surrendering). I have yet to see the game that was relying THAT much on morale, pressure and keeping the initiative. Wiping out the whole (usually entrenched) squad was NEVER an easy task (until, let's say, a HEAT round from a tank showed up inside the house full of insurgents) and was always a "big success", since there's also almost no "1 shot deaths" (not a typical BF \ CoD thing). It's because of the controversial way the PR crew handled aiming - while the "cooldown" was annoying many, many times due to the MP delay (had to play on US server often and needless to say the guys over the sea had it easier), I'm kinda sure it was solved the right way: in no other shooter people act that way. In here it's way better to outflank the enemy than to actually face him. Unlike in most and even in the best tactical shooters. It the only game in which I've seen people do feint attack and movements, actual recon (long range recon patrols playing hide'n'seek) or support jobs (like the guy driving the transport truck the whole game). Few times I've had a insurgent team pass few meters from our hidden squad. And we just let'em go, because killing them won't grant us success - unlike blowing the cache we search for. In no other game You could walk around the house full of enemies, throw a rope hook onto the balcony on the other side, and then climb to just PUMP some sense into them ;-) PR was also pretty much excellent because of one other thing - it was simply complete. Every aspect - gameplay, artwork, sounds, atmosphere, the overall feeling - all that "clicked" together. Many people still feel A3 is somewhat "off" with it's setting and lack of content here and there - and I can totally understand them, because that's basically the opposite of what You felt playing PR. Guys did great job noone ever before did for free, so give'em a chance :) The assets look cool, but what looks even better (and is IMO the most important thing for gameplay) is the map layout. See for Yourself: From the looks of it (in the video), the gameplay is still not yet quite there (auto-fire less recoil than single shots... WHY DO PPL DO THAT?). Can't wait for "Squad", yet does anyone know what happened to standalone, commercial "Project Reality" project that was supposed to be on CryEngine 4?
  8. Are You directing this at me, or something? Even if it's a joke, I find it offending...

Nice find, Burns :) Papanowel, never happened to me, unless the server went AWOL.
  10. I disagree about Aliens: Colonial Marines being console-y, apart from the retarded, broken matchmaking. It has a decent controls, FOV slider, no problems with mouse acceleration and medkits \ armor system instead of the health regen. It's a fun shooter, too short tho and the usual price is outrageous. The Cartel IMO had a good story, had a lot of "The Mexican" \ Tarantino vibe, too bad technically and gameplay-wise it was a shit port. But worth completing, with friends of course. Flashpoint by Codemasters - apart from the franchise theft, GFWL, mr Ass-mouthed-Jamie-Foxx-Wannabe and the overall "Codemasters" feel, Red River* is not a bad game. It's a fun coop shooter: enemy AI is decent enough and when (annoying) friendly AI gets replaced by Your friends, You don't need much more. Randomized single missions, level system and the ability to grind it, open maps and a cool campaign (I mean, really: it had more CWC feel than the ArmA2's campaign and some missions were really atmospheric) were really great - gun handling was ok, much better than in Dragon Rising. And during many, many hours of the playtime I happened to find only 2 bugs (SSgt. Knox one time got stuck in a mission, it happened only once; The other was a sporadic anim desynchro in MP that usually ends up in You blowing yourself up with SMAW or M203 hitting the sandbags or other cover behind which You hid). So it's not that bad and if You'd give me Steamworks instead of GFWL and a mission editor, damn, that'd be one of my favourite games. *Dragon Rising, on the other hand, was simply retarded in most of the aspects and simply annoying.

    JSRS: DragonFyre -- WIP Thread

Wait, SOS? In A3 v1.24? Any idea where can I get the configs that work with 1.24?(sorry, I know it's not the SOS thread, but I looked over there and seen no solution and until I upgrade my rig, I can forget about JSRS in MP :()
  12. I guess it might be this one - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=21702 Thanks for the config as well, I missed those.

    China - PLA Infantry (Alpha)

I second the last statement. If You could release the hotfix before the main update, it would be splendid.

Reyhard reported the same issue, yes, it seems it's the engine thing

    Insurgency

Coop maps were less of a tunnel earlier, but they wanted to prolong it, give more points to take, thus the more "corridorry" approach (unless it's a typical MOUT map it's not that closed). Soldier models IMO are good as they are, esp. if You put custom skins on them. Veteran Insurgent Skins and some Multicam skin for the NATO and this looks waaaay better - except then it's harder to tell friend from foe (especially in the dark). Glad You like it. Btw, I added some videos for those who still aren't sure whether they should try it or not.

    Insurgency

While still having few things that can be done better (like AI behaviour in coop), its one of the best games of the genre - to me, it stands right next to RO2 (and I love RO2). New INS has great gunplay, visuals and proper sound. And You know what else it has? A FREE WEEKEND. Give it a try, guys :) http://store.steampowered.com/app/222880 watch?v=mVvXBtj03xo watch?v=kMF5nPkFEQs watch?v=VFzTHau7yKI watch?v=qQ29UdmnxnQ watch?v=Yin9UCpmMlk watch?v=KtrPAjhSdmk
  17. Headshotting the Jerry from Garand at point-blank range and having him walk it off certainly doesn't count as "realistic". A german who refuse to take damage because of the invisible lead-blocker, just as much. Also, these games were much more limited and shallow than it was presented as first. They were "acceptable", but truely enjoyable only with Ultimate Realism Mod or whatever it was called. It removed the blocker, changed damage values, etc. I lost my patience with Earned in Blood and never really got myself into going back after Hells Highway.
  18. Or maybe You don't really understand why Your words can be understood that way and not the other. Whatever.
  19. AFAIR, UN human rights declaration state that "every human being must be respected". Yeah, connecting the two is far-fetched, but seeing the attitude towards some studios in the past, maybe not that much. You DO promote negative attitude towards devs, at least that's the vibe coming off from your last post (the first part of it, to be precise), so don't try to play it cool. I'm saying that until you'll prove someone to be guilty (of, for example, trying to shove a broken alpha-state product down your throat for 30 $, using typical marketing actions), You can't act like he's guilty (or at least that's not the right thing to do). Disrespecting someone's work is simply a sign of narrow, simple mind. Skepticism is one thing, saying "omg 7 years of work and no solid SP gameplay" while you didn't even bother to get to know why it's 7 years is simply ignorant behaviour. As well as ignoring how the development works, especially in the case of the independent studios. and yeah, flame my english skills, that's sooo mature. It's your choice to act like an ass, but equally, it's my choice to agree or disagree with your or ChrisB's attitude. And I'll always bash groundless or unfair criticism and that's exactly what I can and will do. PS: Flaming someone personally and flaming a type of behaviour is two different things. There was no name calling.
  20. And Your attitude is basically why You are wrong. (mildly put) If You think EVERY developer gets my respect or gets it for nothing, You can't be more wrong. Then there's that UN declaration of human rights, but uhhh, who cares, huh? There's also that tiny fact that "as always, time will tell", and thus there's no point in bashing someone just for being slow while you doesn't even bother to get to know the story behind all this. That's ignorance and how is ignorance doing at earning you respect, brotha? They DO deserve respect, as they didn't scam you or shit on you like EA, Ubi, Acti or Gearbox, or whatever AAA company you want to put your fingers on. They are not the people you can shit on just because you don't like the way the industry works in general. Until they didn't do anything wrong, bashing them is just making you look like a spoiled little brat. And You can act like a spoiled little brat as much as You want, just don't cry later on that the only people \ companies who release games are the ones who doesn't give a shit about you or simply what's good (read as: many AAA developers, who care only about their bank accounts, which will get filled anyway). Ergo, crying "the ambitious team tac shooters are dead!" while bashing the most ambitious project to bring those back to life, is kinda... you know.
  21. @ChrisB What Down8 said. Well it's been 7 years, but with engine changed two times (and HEAVILY upgraded - have You seen their options menu?!) and with only few people (afair for the first few years it was like 4 people working on it, work went mainly towards the engine and the things that can be re-used\upgraded later on, like models, props) who are mainly involved in other jobs (the leader of the studio worked on Rising Storm, for example). It was always a side project and wasn't backed-up like it should. Then, there's the engine thing. It's not Unity (which seems easy to setup, but proves its hard to achieve the quality on par with at least standard UE3-based environment with it), thus... dude, ArmA? Seriously? How could You ever compare ArmA to Unreal Engine 3? Because to quote Kris (I belive): "Despite what manual says, nothing is ever ready to go in UE3". The same UE that lacks the basic anti-aliasing, IIRC (remember what kind of a disaster Americas Army 3 was?), the same that has average level-building time of 4 months AT LEAST, the same that was plagued with server browser problems since ALWAYS, the same that have proven to be one of the buggiest current-gen (Red Orchestra 2? Chivalry Medieval Warfare? TAKEDOWN?) engines... Please. Actually yes, they have shown "bits" of this and that, but these bits are much more promising than most of what people show as finished games. That's not CoD that just needs a working gun menu, ammo counter and the gun animation. That's one of the most ambitious projects in the industry, with a total shortage of people and money put towards it. And still, at this point it seems they are getting along rather well with UE4 and within few months they should get what they had on their heavily-modified UE3: - "real" playable entities in the game, not just magical floating camera with the gun; - rich options menu (with much more gfx and customisation settings than any UE-based game ever had); - rich loadout \ equipment builder (again, there's nothing like this in the market, apart from Arsenal in A3... after 11 !!! years); - working weapon \ equipment effects, particles, ballistics; - fully done weapon handling, including realistic ammo management, different scope perspectives (e.g. backup sights), PiP scopes, recoil, gun lowering - no standardized anims for the guns, every gun has it's own animation - few guns in the game (remember your Eotech isn't glued in any position and can be adjusted on the rail: do you know ANY game that has this feature?) - sound system that takes in account even the difference between throwing out an empty mag into the mud or onto the concrete All of this with development team of less than... 12 people, as far as I remember? Remember. These guys started from scratch, unlike ArmA. Your comparsion is way out of place. Their progress is really good. At this very moment it seems most of the problem is with preparing the right animation scheme \ the animations themselves, but guess what? They just got some new people to do this, the ones that worked on A3 animations. So Chris... rethink what You said. Because yes, this will actually take a while longer, but even tho some work had to be redone \ dropped, they are further than ever, and closer to releasing the "promo" alpha. And hey, you won't have to pay for the "demo" - I guess you can't say the same about Interstellar Marines... So maybe it isn't all that bad, huh? Because, see, I actually prefer waiting 8 years for the game that is the messiah of the tactical shooters than waiting 2 and getting another Letdown: Red Sabre or 3 for another mediocore "meh" action shooter along the lines of the R.Sux Vegas... Show some faith and respect...
  22. Can't disagree more on the GTA 4. GTA 4 and SA are on par, both are one of the best games ever released.
  23. - LetDown: Lie Sabre (a broken product that never got repaired. Shitty PR and abandoning product despite the promises is a lousy act of cowardice) - Company Of Heroes 2 (I mean... what the f... :| one of the worst sequels EVER. The only thing that was done rather well was the SP campaign...) - SEGA's Company Of Heroes (when CoH2 turned out to be pile of crap, SEGA decided to hit the CoH1 mod playerbase. These assholes broke CoH1...) - Medal Of Honor: Warfighter (crap gunplay, crap missions, crap technical side, in overall it was supposed to be better than MoH 2010. After all, it was much, much worse) - Every Brothers in Arms game (first two without mods were unplayable, also... it's rather shit compared to what they promised) also: - FEAR 3 (FEAR 2 was nice, what the hell the 3rd one was supposed to be, anyway?) - GRID 2 (BOO-HOO, no FPS view. Total deal-breaker) - CoD: Black Ops (no, it wasnt a bad game. In fact, the SP part was great and even MP wasn't THAT bad. There's only one unfulfilled promise... WHERE'S THE GODDAMN MOD TOOLS? PS: people who cry over the mash-up concept and the not-serious approach are rather sad) - Jagged Alliance: Back In Action (crap real-time something that has nothing on the classic JA2) - Every Red Faction game since the first one (number of reasons, but the most important one being not even half as good as the first one) - Warface (was supposed to be a great coop shooter, is heavily meh and a pay2win in PvP) - Heroes and Generals (few unbalanced gameplay elements and too few maps, very slow progress since open beta) - Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, GR Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2, Future Soldier (I can stand turning sim's into action shooters, but FFS, do it right...) - Mafia 2 (No, the ending was very good. It was the already mentioned content-cut and shit DLC's that damaged it) - Wargame: EE, Wargame: AB (the infantry part was a bad joke) - Men Of Valor (crap console port, not really fun) - ShellShock '67 (crap console port, not really fun) - every MGS, Killzone, Syphon Filter, Time-Splitters and Perfect Dark game (for being great games... THAT AREN'T ON PC) I also tend to quietly weep at night over the "pick your units" screen that just "isn't there" for CM: Shock Force... Also, how can You say Vietcong 1 was buggy? Played since release and never really ran into anything game breaking. I call bullshit on this one.
