OK, so the 13.4 drivers are good?
As for smooth play, turn off the motion blur and put Arma3 on an SSD. Then one can manage with a rig that only yields somewhat lower fps, around 25-30, say.

Just read the latest SITREP - some serious issues being taken on. Great to hear!

Good pictures DaRkL3AD3R, really singles out how only the midrange textures are not up to date

Assigned indeed - crossing fingers !

Out of curiousity, how? Lower knowsabout values through fog - would that be a test ? Not that familiar with how a good test is put together ....

Excellent service, Dwarden! And that would provide more screen information, not just stretching what we already see in 16:9 ?

Me too. For those who havent bothered with the video: They test what games actually show more of the scene, and what games that only stretch the video to fill the screen. They start at 1920x1080 (16:9, Full HD) then change to the wider resolution. For instance, Black Ops 2 does not benefit from a 21:9 resolution (2:33 in the video)
Lets hope that this could enter Arma 3 at one stage. Definitely voted!

Does the new fog affect AI perception, too ?That was my thought, too. Very good question, Varanon!

@rss334: I am on the stable branch only, and I have a hard time spotting any changes in midrange textures in the latest stable version, despite the change log claiming improvements.
Still bald hills all around me, nothing that even approaches the video I linked to above.
Logic Map :)

Hehe, we should make t-shirts

As a showcase of what solving both problem 1 and 2 could achieve: A very convincing example of improved midrange texture and NO sinking into the ground - the camouflage of the soldiers outfit is sufficient, just like it should be:
(0:13s into the video, my jaw hit the floor!)Thanks to Kuskov for the video, posted in the Bad Benson mod thread (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?150645-midrange-terrain-texture-replacement&p=2354642&viewfull=1#post2354642)

Note that this is about midrange textures, not the textures around you when you are on the ground.
I really hope that BI sees this as a complete package:
1)
Replace midrange textures with something that does not look barren/featureless for ALL terrain types. That would require the Nordkindchen approach (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?149905-Sophisticated-considerations-on-how-to-get-rid-of-the-blurry-mid-range-textures)
2)
Remove the "soldier sinking into the ground at distance", which is a workaround for 1). That has been demonstrated here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?148861-Rendering-grass-at-long-distances-My-thoughts-about-it

Frustrating that this ticket has noone assigned to it (http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=4635) . Just found out that you can't vote more than once :-)

That thing speaks for itself. With this new system, what you see from the air is really what you will experience when on foot.
The top picture (current method) tries to convince you that the ground is barren, which it is not once your'e down there.
The bottom picture relays very well what the terrain is really like down low.
Well done,

Nice, ill try some of these tonight. Excellent to be able to hone some skills. Would you consider a classic spotter/sniper scenario too? I am thinking the intro of the Shooter movie if you know that one ....

metsrule08: That is a nice spec for a laptop - you should be fine on at least medium settings. The best thing you can do for your A3 experience will probably be to install Arma3 on the SSD. It gives such a good flow, no stutters when looking around fast and all that.

Just like to register my interest in a maps-only addon solution. What DMarkwick said - maps only (for now) :)
-
Played it in single player - great mission, love the CQB and the deadly environment. Would like some grenades though since it's CQB, are there any in the crates (haven't searched all of them). If I try to loot the enemies that get killed, none of them have grenades
-
This is so cool - not having to choose between launching Arma 2 or 3, all can be done from A3.
-
Indeed, they do. And the first picture shows why NKs method is absolutely necessary - one midrange texture to fit the entire island has really bad side effects.
-
NK, just a heads up - those links are not working
-
What I'm seeing does not look dissimilar to what I already see from Bad Bensons mod. I was expecting to see significant difference between BBs and your concept.I *think* that NordKindchens suggestion here is to facilitate "Bad Benson quality" all over the island - BBs work only applies to certain areas. The actual quality would probably depend on how many hours the graphics artist puts in.

No problem. I came very close to trying unpacking and repacking a pbo to see if I could make it work. Stuff like that really annoys me :) Glad you sorted it out

Especially from the big sized picture it looks so much better than the default terrain, which is quickly becoming unbearable.
I hope that it can be made into a mod if BI don't fix this, once they are done fixing fish swimming north :p

If possible, please post a closeup image from the ground as well to convey the infantryman perspective. Think it will look awesome
