ArmA II / OA Installation problems

Hi, trying to install Arma2+OA (Combined Ops) on another machine in the household, downloads are from Sprocket. A2 installs fine, and is patched to 1.10 as per the Sprocket download (I do not patch it myself, it is a patched download). In order to build an CombinedOps install, I then install OA "on top of" the Arma2 install. I got a CRC error during the OA install: "File copy error (CRC does not match)", the file is Structures_e.pbo So I should probably re-download one of the bin's, but which one contains Structures_e.pbo ? There are seven files, Setup01.bin-Setup07.bin And: If you do not use the Sprocket downloader, but direct link download, where can one get the MD5 files to check validity? And finally: How will the OA install on top of Arma2 behave, when Arma2 is patched to 1.10, while OA is not up there yet with 1.59? Will it down-patch Arma2? Thanks, OP

Arma 2: OA Beta Build 83261

LOL, using Subversion also at your shop, Dwarden? Mighty fine tool, btw -OP PS: Thanks for all your fine patch work these days, can't test a thing, off to Malta tomorrow :)
  3. Hi, are there any SP missions for Capraia that do not require loads of additional Addons? Has been roaming this amazing island, but now I need something to do, LOL. Simple missions, complex ones, does not matter. Cheers, OP

ARMA 2: OA beta build 81921

I have an 5870 and used to get those black shapes whenever I changed video memory settings from the in-game menu. Not in this beta, but in the released patch before the current one. So don't think it has to do with heat -OP

What is Arma 2: Firing Range

Heh, me too on the S2. I always wondered if they could put out an Android version of the editor, just a small-scale one

    GAM Clockfacing Report

Oh, but that explanation helped me, so thanks. I was just not sure if you were improving on the OA clock display, the one that pops up whenever a contact is called out. Or if you didn't rely on it at all. Out of curiousity, if you play Arma2 (no OA) with your addon, do you get a clock display? Edit: I guess not, just read your first post once more

    GAM Clockfacing Report

Ok, so if I may sum up? Disregard any clock displayed. In stead, use the direction player is facing as 12 o'clock. Ie. a contact reported at 6'o clock will be behind me, 9'o clock to my left and so on. Thanks, OP

All, you should take a look here and see if some of the shortcomings of the current system have been eliminated: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=118629 -OP

    Bohemia Interactive's future ARMA 3!

Not really sure I get this thread - isn't Arma3 cancelled, now that they are going to make some civilian helicopter thingy in stead?

    GAM Clockfacing Report

Allright, I tried it last night, running a A2 scenario under Combined Ops (A2+OA). I got enemy calls that seemed to match the green clock symbol in the lower right corner of the screen. I was just wondering a few things, while testing: Does your addon display a clock as well, graphically, similar to OA? Or do you use the OA clock? I did not try out the extended querying of targets, will look into that soon. But I was very pleased that the clock calling seemed to be accurate, by that I mean matching the clock symbol I had on my screen -OP

    GAM Clockfacing Report

Hi gammadust, I'll give it a try. Also, I would be using it in Combined Ops mode, not OA only. And the problem from those threads apply to CO as well. So no problems there Thanks, OP

    GAM Clockfacing Report

Hi gammadust, here are a few threads concluding that the OA callouts with the clock being displayed is not useful, however well thought out: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=96802&highlight=clock+direction http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=117105&highlight=clock+direction Basically, your statement "This addon makes those clock directions always in relation to the player" is just what the OA implementation fails to do. So it would be very nice if your addon could work in OA as well, I hope that you could eventually make it work, but of course it is your call :) Best regards, OP

    GAM Clockfacing Report

Hi gammadust, very interesting addon in the works here. Having it as a Combined Ops addon too would be very relevant, since BIS's implementation from OA does not work. So if you had actually come up with a good implementation, all OA/CO players would be very happy! Best regards, OP
  14. Hi, you must install A2 first, then OA. So once you get A2 you should uninstall OA again, before installing A2. That will give you the option to run Combined Ops, A2 classic and OA standalone. Most of the time you would want to run the Combined Ops. -OP

[CAMP/OA] Soldiers of Valor: Task Force 94

Hi, the first couple of lines in your rpt-file are really central as they show the shortcut used for starting ArmaOA. You could try and see if that shortcut is really what you expected, ie. that it really points to the right mod folders? -OP

[CAMP/OA] Soldiers of Valor: Task Force 94

Hi, on Win XP this is my path - might give you a pointer on where to look: c:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA 2 OA\arma2oa.RPT The file has added content to it for each gaming session - so your latest problems will be at the bottom. Find the last occurrence of something that looks like this: ======================================================================= ==E:\Spil\Arma2\arma2oa.exe =="E:\Spil\Arma2\arma2oa.exe" "-mod=E:\Spil\Arma2;Expansion;ca;@cba;@sthud;baf;@lingor" "-name=Joergen" -nosplash -nointro ===================================================================== Exe timestamp: 2011/03/31 21:13:55 Current time: 2011/04/03 11:56:19 Everything below this has to do with the session that was started at "Current time". IIRC, you can even delete the file and the next session will create one for you - that way only the last sessions problems will be in it, more easy to pinpoint trouble that way. -OP
  17. So in W7 PrintScreen followed by paste into Paint or similar does not work? I find that hard to believe, since it's simply clipboard based. I'm on XP myself and it works flawlessly. They could have done a more elegant implementation such as a dedicated screendump folder with autogenerated filenames etc. but the basic functionality is intact with 1.59
  18. Interesting test, PoorOldSpike. I am not really familiar with setting up such a test, but could Red's behaviour/mode be a factor? Ie. if above he was "careless" while running towards Blue behind the bush; would it then be different if Red was made Aware or put in Danger mode during his travel. Perhaps more on watch and scanning more frequently/intensely. Perhaps that could alter the outcome, ie. make him "see" Blue earlier. -OP
  19. You are obviously quite experienced in this issue. Is it possible for a modder, who creates new bushes and shrubbery, to somehow set the concealment effect/value of a certain object too high or too low? Ie. suddenly the bush is transparent, or too non-transparent. And can we absolutely sure that such a problem does not apply to any of the stock bushes ? Does that make sense - does each bush-type have its own level of concealment?
  20. Amen to that R.Flagg! And about the viewpoint "yet another digital distribution method is undesirable", do note that Sprocket is totally unobtrusive, it's simply a download-and-run, an electronic DVD if you like. And Sprocket does not leave behind bloated software such as Steam that my kids installed on my gaming rig when I had my back turned. That thing cost me about a minute of startup time. Might just as well visit exotic home pages for all the latest viruses if you want to bring your machine down like Steam does.

    White grass/flora textures after 1.59

So are you all saying that we could keep the AToC at 7, which probably does something good that eludes me, and just turn off AA in the in-game video options menu? Then as suggested here, run at, say, 150% of monitor resolution ? -OP

    AI spotting enemys per clock

How do you enable/disable the clock hud? Mine appears for a short time whenever someone shouts out a direction. But it goes away - would be nice to be able to toggle it on (or off)

    AI spotting enemys per clock

Those are some nice ideas that would help. Most strange really, is that noone from BIS has ever uttered a single word on whether it works, and if it works, then how? In OA we even get the clock when the shouts are going. Think I'll see how that correlates with the red markers that you get on lower difficulties ....

    AI spotting enemys per clock

I'm guessing lawl, because the clock directions appear to be broken. All threads around this (searched the other day) come to that conclusion. And noone really knows if it is related to your view, the general direction your squad is heading, the formation and your placement with respect to it, or something entirely other that the clock thingy refers to. I am still so noob that I miss this feature so if anyone has the lowdown on this - and can attest that it works - I would love to hear about it. -OP

Hi, you should just use the radio, ie. the Commands menu. Try pressing 0 (zero) and see if you don't get a Commands menu with some options for support
