  1. Allright, thanks! -OP edit: On XP that becomes C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\My Documents\Sprocket
  2. You launch Combined Ops using the shortcut created during installation called "ARMA 2 Combined Operations". It just runs the Arma2OA.exe. That is the OA executable, and it will detect if you have Arma2 installed as well in the same folder as OA. In that case it will run in CO mode, otherwise it runs OA standalone
  3. I bought the Combined Ops package as well and Sprocket is downloading right now. However, can't quite figure out how far it has come - the 3% completion seems a bit off if it has downloaded almost a quarter of the MBs required :-) Another thing - there is no indication of where the download is stored on my PC - guess I will have to look for it afterwards..... -OP

    Zeus AI Combat Skills

You don't need that to just browse the TS3 server. TeamSpeak is a program like anything else. -OP

    Zeus AI Combat Skills

You download it from here - it's free: http://teamspeak.com/ 5 minutes later you are able to get the latest Zeus from their TS3 server
  6. I think you use -window in the shortcut command

    Editor Help

Hi, thanks so much for such a detailed walkthrough. I tried to see if I could make it work. I have never used the Editor before and had some problems understanding step 7 ("press F2 and link the trigger to the player unit (dude1)"). I was expecting some dialog box to manage the way they are linked? I managed to get a line between the trigger and him, but is that how this should be done? Also, I simply previewed the mission, and it did not play the dialog. Would step 9 help, ie. Save and re-load it? Is that required? Finally, my mission was not saved to the game folder, rather in some User data folder, I suppose that is OK? Thanks for any pointers to these questions! -OP
  8. If you have Arma2 or Combined Operations (A2+OA), then the original campaign that came with Arma2 is quite good training on a relatively simple level. ACE will probably complicate things for you, if you are really new. I would advice you to get to learn the basics first -OP

    exThreads

I've got an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. What would you recommend for exThreads setting? Most advice I come across relates to dual-core, not quads like mine. Cheers, OP

    ARMA 2:OA beta patch 76067

For those who experience slowdowns and/or stutter, try Alt-tab out of the game and back in. This can help a lot. It is not a fix, of course, but if that method helps, it may tell BI what to look for -OP

    Headshot didn't kill an AI?

It could very well be that you weren't zeroed in on the distance he was at. If you're zeroed at 500m and he's at 50m you will not hit him. PageUp/Dwn is used to set the zeroing distance for sniper rifles -OP
  12. I don't know really, could be a lot of stuff. This method is usually pretty safe, as you are aware. Only thing I can think of is if your 1.54 install had issues that didn't show during your game-tests, but that conflicted with the 1.55 patch. Other issues would be pure speculation, but something along the lines of admin rights, read-only user folders, antivirus running etc. Your post made me consider to keeping the addons in folders outside of the Arma2 main folder. To keep this method simpler. If I ever get around to it (I will if I start having problems) Cheers, OP
  13. That is it. Setting your squad to COMPACT COLUMN(all-8-8) or DELTA (all-8-9) will usually make them disengage (that tip is here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1696097&postcount=4) -OP

    Re installation issue

Concur, severely limited. It seems that you have a good download of the 1.55 patch, so make good use of that to patch an A2+OA install (ie. combined ops). -OP
  16. A simple system that can help reverting to older patches (from the old Falcon4 days with many patches to keep track of) is this: Keep an unpatched version of Arma2 in a separate folder, eg. Arma2_noPatch. You construct this by installing from DVD and then copying the entire Arma2 folder into this folder. You then have two identical folders, Arma2 and Arma2_noPatch. The registry points toward Arma2. Now patch the Arma2 folder to, say, 1.55 and enjoy the game. When the next patch comes out, the main thing with this procedure is to rename your Arma2 folder into whatever the version is at the time. Eg. rename the Arma2 folder into Arma2_155. Then make an empty folder named Arma2 and copy the contents of Arma2_noPatch into this folder. Now patch Arma2 with the new patch. Now, if you don't like the new patch, just delete the Arma2 folder, make a new one and copy the contents of Arma2_155 into it. Voila, you're back to 1.55 Hope this may be of some use. Note that as Arma2 resides not only in the Arma2 folder, you might have to maintain copies of the user data folders (profiles and stuff) as well to be really on the safe side. But they should be up- and downwards compatible. -OP

    Ghost Recon:Island Thunder Campaign

Probably trivial info for most of the GR afficionados here, but still: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tom_clancys_ghost_recon GOGs main thing is that they enable older games to run on modern Windows platforms. -OP

    Re installation issue

Hi Mark, yes, Combined Ops = A2+OA. Ie. install A2 first, then OA. After OA came out, you can buy a Combined Ops package that has A2 and OA bundled.

Patching ArmA2/ OA freezes my PC

When you get crash dumps, send them to dwarden. His email is dwarden (a) bistudio.com. That's the fastest way to help BIS fix the things that are causing you trouble. You should send all three files to him (arma2.bidmp,arma2.RPT,arma2.mdmp) He loves those! -OP

    Re installation issue

Hi, you are getting into a lot of trouble, I must say, for a seemingly simple task. Sorry to hear that. More than anything, it sounds like you have a bad 1.08 patch downloaded. When I installed Combined Ops (A2+OA), I installed A2 first, did no patching, and then installed OA. I then patched with the OA 1.55 patch, which will patch both OA and A2, bringing A2 to 1.08. You could perhaps try my procedure, and check after each step if it works. Good luck, OP

    Mana Island Fiji

Really enjoyable mission, thanks. Playing it in SP without problems. Got stuck on some rocks as well, but nothing major. Cheers, OP
  22. Yeah, that was it. Good find. But seems to be gone ....

wheres the campaign folder for arma 2 (steam version)?

Yes, you need to make it yourself, puzzled me too. But I think the folder is called Campaign (no 's'). Anyhow, if it's not the one spelling it's the other. Edit: Just checked, it's called "Campaign"

    [CAMP/OA] Operation Mighty Justice

Ok, this time I progressed quite a bit further into the first mission. Cleared the first hamlet. Then this Just-in-time debug thingy came up again. I have found out that it is not a rare problem if you have Visual Studio installed. I have disabled the debugger and hope to finish the first mission without freezes. So very likely nothing to do with the mission. Really cool operation by the way; I had this guy in my IR-sights and was about to pull the trigger, when a large flash hit him, turned out it was fire from some of the armored support vehicles. -OP

    [CAMP/OA] Operation Mighty Justice

OK, thanks Bardosy. It froze a couple of times after each other, where I restarted CO. Did not try to restart the PC in between though. Better try that first. Do you know, by any chance, if a freeze leaves behind some diagnostic file, like the dump-files or a rpt? Cheers, -OP
