Still warping / Network Lagging
old_painless replied to tarabas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
It is work-in-progress, not done yet -
Yes exactly. Point OA to the directory where the Arma2.exe resides, that would be your install directory for Arma2, "C:\programe files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA2" One thing that could cause you problems was a bad download. I had to try a few times when I downloaded my OA (from Sprocket but anyway). So check if you have a list of how many files you are supposed to download and what their size should be, then compare to what you downloaded. -OP

Adding physx to beta patches
old_painless replied to papoose244's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
That's some patch -
No. Your download of Arma2 will most likely be with a recent patch. Then install OA. Like you say, make sure that the OA installer wants to install to the same folder that Arma2 was installed to, otherwise make it. When OA is done installing, launch the Combined Ops game, this is done by invoking the Arma2OA.exe (you should have a shortcut by now that does that for you). Then check the patch number, lower right corner. Should be 1.59.79384. Then you are as patched as you can get :)

[ADO] Tigeria : Island, Units & Vehicles
old_painless replied to oldbear's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi, just wanted to say thanks for a really cool island. I am trying to set up some simple missions on it, but am not done scouting for good locations. That place has so many nice spots. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that the download links in the first mail gave me a CRC error in 7-zip, the Armaholic download did not. Cheers, OP -

From the recent in-game footage it seems that the clock system is kept (lower right corner). Let's hope that they sort out the problems with callouts that do not correspond to the clock on the players screen. There are several threads describing the problems with the current system, I'll see if I can dig one up ... -OP -
Is it possible to put a waypoint in a positioned house?
old_painless replied to shammy2010's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi, where can one see where a certain buildingPos is situated in the house, eg. the roof is no. 6 ? Edit: Never mind, found this one: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=122108&highlight=buildingPos Thanks, OP -
Hi, it is of course a legit copy so hoping that FADE would not kick in. I am contemplating using my work pc for Arma, however they don't appreciate disk space being used for games. So I figured having the registry set up correctly and then have the entire install on the stick (32Gb sized) would work. I'll look into symlink to see if that would work, thanks. If so, I'll let you know what performance is like -OP

Playing Coop SP Campaign in ONE Team??
old_painless replied to mhdh15's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Hi, you could look into this one, it's highly rated and should be for OA standalone: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=109783&highlight=bardosy But right now, you can get Arma2 at a bargain at Sprocketidea.com. Think the offer lasts a few more days. That would give you access to a lot more content: http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=30&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2 -OP -
Hi all, does anyone here know if it is possible to run Arma2/Combined Ops from a USB stick, you could think "Arma2 portable"? I would imagine that you would have to make a regular install to a hard drive, and then copy the full Arma2 folder to the USB stick. But then how about registry settings? Any advice is much appreciated! -OP

Looks like one of your downloaded source files was corrupted during download. That happens, just try downloading once more. See if the filesizes change with the new downloads -

ARMA 2: OA beta build 83780
old_painless replied to suma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I came across something similar with a mission I toyed with in vanilla Combined Ops. I put down a BLUFOR group with me in lead and an OPFOR infantry group 2-300 m away (Utes airstrip). I saw the OPFOR group through my scope and told my group to "engage that rifleman". They replied "ok", "will do" etc. but didn't do anything. I gave them fire at will but nothing happened. The OPFOR group was just standing around, probably hadn't seen us yet. I then opened fire on the OPFOR group myself and they started returning fire. My group then opened up on them, but only then. So my question: is the doctrine for Arma2 peacekeeping, in which we should not engage unless being shot at? -
help need with basic training
old_painless replied to hekuball's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I think that came about after some Arma2 patch, probably more lethal AI or something. Originally you could finish the heavy weapons training and you should then talk to the instructor. He would give you the choice whether to proceed to the village nearby for MOUT. -
ArmA II / OA Installation problems
old_painless replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So you have a Sprocket download of CO, including OA, and you want to run the OA install, AFTER you did the Arma2 one? Two things could be at play here, a non-patched Arma2 or a Sprocket download folder with garbage in it. My suggestion would be this: 1. Make sure that your Arma2 works, and check what its patch is: You can tell the patch number when you enter the game (lower right corner). Play a simple mission and see that it works. Just make it so far that you can save, then leave Arma2. 2. Make a new folder, eg. c:\temp\arma2co\ Move the OA install files from the Sprocket folder into this folder, and only them. That would be Setup.exe setup01.bin (899.9M) setup02.bin (899.9M) setup03.bin (899.8M) setup04.bin (899.8M) setup05.bin (885.0M) setup06.bin (838.2M) setup07.bin (151.3M) Check the filesizes - if your download from Sprocket is recent, they should have the filesizes stated above. Older downloads will have other sizes. 3. Now run Setup.exe from this new folder. At the end of the install, it will attempt to apply patch 1.09, which is contained in one of the .bin files. If your Arma2 is already at patch 1.10 it will not apply the patch. Let us know how it went ? -

Tombguy5, could you clarify when you are getting a message and what the message says? Ie. are you in the menus or in the 3D world within the game Or do you get a message in Windows when you are trying to run a patch? -
help need with basic training
old_painless replied to hekuball's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I noticed the exact same thing, just set up a fresh A2+OA install. When running basic training with combined ops (Arma2OA.exe with no mods), the A2 firing range training is not working like you describe. And the tank training has its problems, too. After I destroy the third tank, I get engaged by the group that I am supposed to go hunt down in the nearby village in MOUT after AT training. The buggers are firing at me, while I am still with the instructor, LOL. -
How about this: Rename the old one and have the game build you a new one. Then leave the game. Carefully copy the good settings from the old one into the new using a programmers editor.

Give SP Tank crews some useful AI
old_painless replied to malau's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I think it's more likely that they have not gotten around to it yet. The current beta work seems to focus on infantry AI. And also some work on AI and vehicles, not tanks though. It also depends on how many vote for what CIT tickets -
ArmA II / OA Installation problems
old_painless replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You are right :) This is what happened: At the end of the OA install, it wants to patch Arma2 with 1.09. It detects that Arma2 has a newer version (1.10) and skips the patching of Arma2 entirely. As for the CRC error, I redownloaded the bin's once more, and got a good set of downloads. This time it ran without problems. So all in all, I'm good. No problems with the Sprocket set of files after all :) -
ArmA II / OA Installation problems
old_painless replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
OK, thanks. In a way, the Sprocket download for Combined Operations perhaps leads to a wrong install sequence, if you want to install CO. Correct method: Install Arma2, patch to something like 1.05 Install OA, patch to 1.59 (which includes 1.09 for Arma2) Method from the current downloads: Install Arma2 AND have it patch to 1.10 Install OA, patched to 1.59 (which only has 1.09 for Arma2) IF the install with the current method works at all, curious what conflicts between 1.09 and 1.10 the last step may inflict .....
