[Resolved] OA Server version 1.55 Battleye problems
Lhowon replied to Bryce23's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
This isn't a genuine solution, but if you've been an idiot like me make sure you haven't left the beta patch enabled with 1.55. That gave me the "battleye initialization failed" error. But I know at least one person who has the issue without the beta. -
ShackTac Movement addons
Lhowon replied to dslyecxi's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I have to say this is a fantastic mod, I can't overstate the improvement to CQB. The slight incongruity of gun barrels clipping through walls is massively outweighed by the improvement to indoor movement. -

Well said. -
I'm sorry to hear that man. Best of luck.

Bought BAF - textures still bad
Lhowon replied to Muscular Beaver's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
There's always a touch of personal opinion to these things but seeing as you say "far" more blurry I'd say that's definitely wrong. If anything the BAF infantry make the US units look slightly dated... No idea what could have caused that, unless something went wrong with the install. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

I also hope the DLC has sold well - I love it so I'd love more :P -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

Lol for a bit I actually thought the standalone missions is Scenarios were the campaign. I was very impressed by nearly all of the extra missions. I especially liked Concrete Oasis and Merlin: the former for the really interesting use of high command, the latter for having no combat but still being engaging. Which reminds me I still haven't done the last one... -
I agree that the wind does have too much white noise to it, making it sound a bit odd. But I must stress that I absolutely love the effect it is going for - the soft background breeze adds hugely to the feeling of actually being there. After all there's rarely such a thing as silence outside. So please keep it, just make it sound more natural :) EDIT: I'd also like to add I'm not a huge fan of the metallic smashing sound you get when bullets are shot at you. I get the effect it's going for but I find it to me more annoying than immersive.

Get well Jarhead, and don't stress over the mod, it can wait! Take it easy dude.

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Lhowon replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Very smart move, well done on ensuring MP compatibility. -
Please Zipper, engage your brain. If they were of bearable quality there would be a significant number of cheapskates players who would simply put up with them and consider it free content. Which would miss the point entirely of paid DLC. This is to make BI money, releasing them in a patch is doing us all the favour of ensuring multiplayer compatibility. Not to give anyone free content.

Sorry for the delay, only just saw this - I've PMed you.

As ever thanks a bunch Jarhead, the new version rocks. I've actually noticed a bit of this myself with the last two versions of JSRS (the one before those seemed fine) - I'm wondering if it might be related to the large number of errors JSRS throws up in the RPT file. Anyway great job.

So if I'm understanding you correctly: the North Korean people in 2010 are complicit in the atrocities committed on them by their leaders because 'they' didn't stop the regime gaining power in the first place (a regime essentially imposed on them by the Soviets after WWII)? And therefore we shouldn't have compassion for its people? Sorry but there's no logical pathway there, and certainly no room for morality. Having compassion for the oppressed is fundamental to being on the right side of an issue, because otherwise what's your stance - that all North Koreans deserve what they get?

I guess I see the point you're making, but I do hope you realise that freedom of thought and expression are real and tangible. If we just leave it at comparing (without getting into other protected rights) freedom of expression in the US and NK it is polar opposites - the US has it in a very real meaningful sense, NK doesn't in an equally real and meaningful sense. That makes the US clearly superior in that respect. I hope you agree, I was just getting a general sense of cultural relativism from what you were saying. I don't like having to second guess what people are meaning, especially on forums, as it lets them conveniently redefine their statements at a later time and bog down the conversation in cross-purpose semantics. I don't see what about the USSR's history negates my point, so I'd appreciate if you'd make your point clearly so I can see how it relates to mine.
