Towns / Buildings all empty? Will someone move in?
Flash Thunder replied to rss334's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Mainly what i was hoping for. This is one of my complaints its not special to have a lot of buildings if they're all just basic square layouts and nothing inside them. Hope BIS can put some tables, couches, chairs and cupboards, paintings on the walls stuff like that. -
Which graphics settings are dependent on DX11?
Flash Thunder replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
None as far as I know. on a side note I seem to like low shadows more than high shadows in Arma 3, SideStrafe posted a video showing this off. -
Concerns regarding ArmA III overall feel.

If you were right this site would be up in flames and BI developers wanted dead or alive... You have nothing to worry about. -
No functionality as far as I know.

Many Arma 2 annoyances fixed!! + SIGNIFICANTLY LESS LOD switching when it comes to vegetation and buildings. This was such an immersion blemish in Arma 2 glad to see it remedied. + Not much Z-fighting on distant geometry, some only found on Air Station Mike globe and some concrete walls. + Texture flashing is gone from what I have played. Not seeing anymore white flashing textures as you spin around in a city or zoom in with your scope. + Audio for weapons is vastly improved love it so far + Muzzles are awesome can even see some sparks awesome subtle touches add a lot to the experience + Stratis is beautiful, the sunset is beautiful and the water looks fucking amazing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - AI still need heavy work added functionality - vehicles still seem awkward to drive around especially the ATV - Not sold at all with physx, jelly flopping is lame looking - Terrain textures look so bland it needs to be addressed, is bump mapping still only apply able to ground textures in engine? - Shadows are still very spotty looking, overcast setting looks dull due to the lack of shadow the scene looses depth. - Many of the buildings are just empty houses. No furnishings (do to alpha or intentional to keep performance up)?? - Commanding interface and interaction menu still need work I'm guessing that part just didn't make Alpha ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall I'm impressed with the alpha so far very stable and content is polished no hugely game breaking bugs so far in a few hours of play. Fairly the same performance as I got in Arma 2. Good work! Keep on chugging. -
Separate options for DOF, Blur and Glare, Ambient Occlusion ?
Flash Thunder replied to grandstack's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
There is a lot of support for this request I would not doubt it if it's going to make it in soon. BIS please separate them. -
What do I need to replace to get a smooth framerate?
Flash Thunder replied to Schockh's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Um well we can't help you when you can't even bother to post your system specs....... What is your CPU / it's clockrate (@2.4Ghz example) Your graphics card type of RAM and how much you know. Please be descriptive otherwise these threads are considered spam. -
Observation: Right Click Zoom no longer triggers LOD swapping
Flash Thunder replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Yep noticed that in the first few minutes of playing, that issue plagued Arma 2 also with buildings in Chernarus mainly. Awesome job so far BIS on the LOD system. -
Its nice to see the improvements but it still need work. Also would be nice to have the glass pieces hit the floor then disappear.

Close Quarter got seriously improved!

Why Do You Think Bohemia Interactive Is Holding Back?
Flash Thunder replied to Leaulux's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Because secretly its all going to suck and look horrible. Bad models and horrible textures and zero sound effects. That's why. Totally serious by the way ; ) -
The Bohemia Interactive Slogan should be, "You ain't seen nothin' yet."
Flash Thunder replied to rehtus777's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
With plenty of tweaking and polishing of art assets it definitely has the potential to be an awesome game by launch. Im happy that BIS did go with providing an Alpha for Arma 3 otherwise I would be skeptical. -

Honestly im not impressed with the underwater environments at all. Obviously we don't have much to utilize the environment in the alpha but so far I think its just a gimmick. Played around with vehicles. From what I've played it seems BIS has a lot more work to do with Physx. I was able to flip a Littlebird onto its rotors and survive then clip a couple of trees and never took any damage, I'll be trying to reproduce it soon and if i get the same results will be posting in feedback tracker. ATV use is still awkward, I was only able to climb a small hill at 20 km/h which is too slow for a powerful future ATV. Also stiff riding animation when on ATV just seems really unnatural. I was unable to flip the thing at all from the time i played. Landing in water = LOLZ I found quite a few clipping bugs in various buildings, being able to run straight through balcony rails for example. Sounds in the game even maxed out are pretty quiet unless I crank up my speakers. Dunno if this is intentional. Alpha though is in good condition I'm not running into game breaking bugs for the most part and I'm trying to break the game intentionally. Past annoyances that I have noted are improved/fixed/less prevalent Tree Level of Detail and texture flickering is less prevalent from what I played. Its awesome to zoom around and not see the tree LODS go berserk that was a huge problem in A2: OA. Also not seeing the same for buildings especially in large towns like Agia Marina. HDR improvements are awesome so far and lighting engine is much improved really improves gameplay and immersion. Overall I think the game just needs more polish and AI improvements. :D -

Pretty much my impressions. Except running on high/medium getting around 25 fps with little to no action going on. Terrain textures look awful and shadows are still blocky and ugly Need to play more though myself only got 1 hour logged in. -
Dont fret guys it wont make it into full release yeah its even worse than COD's grenade tossing mechanics.

Wow natural radio chatter now. One less thing trolls can't use against Arma anymore. :D

Calm down Combat you're going to end up banned if you keep it up. Games usually contain a lot of placeholders until they're out of beta. Would not be surprised if BIS is still using some placeholders for sound effects aswell as 3d assets. Read PC gamer article. Disappointing that overcast weather still disables shadows makes the lighting feel very one dimensional. Explosion smoke still look blah too.

Google son do you know what it is?

Wow I love the amount of detail that is in idling animations. Seeing the soldier slap his neck and then wipe his hands was awesome and seeing him yawn this is the type of detail that adds a lot of immersion in these kind of games. I'll be changing my trousers now. *exits stage left*
