Rendering grass at long distances: My thoughts about it
Minoza replied to Elcoo's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
^^I was wondering the same. -
Why buy A3 just so you could go online and ruin everyone's experience?
Minoza replied to lNTRUDER's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
I'm loving the concept of air cav atm, but I simply can't find a good server to play it on. I love flying people to AO, but every air cav server I try looks the same. Whole base messed up, no choppers to fly for they are destroyed by team killers. Managed to get myself voted as public admin today and it was quite an enjoyable experience after kicking a bunch of retards. We really need some TK punishing scripts asap, it can save public servers. :D -
Wasted an Hour of My Life on This Game So Far
Minoza replied to MrsAcademy's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Dude, it'll get better if you stick with it. Don't bash it like that after playing one type of mission. There are missions without random spawning you know. Get some people to play with you, play organized cause then it's fun. Also, at this moment avoid servers with a lot of people (20+), it will only contribute to game crashing and bad performance. -

Grass becoming useless for cover at distance
Minoza replied to DanD123's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
There already is an alternative. Players "sink" into ground at distance so that you can't see them as easy. Also check this: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?148861-Rendering-grass-at-long-distances-My-thoughts-about-it -
You keep quoting me, while you don't even understand what I'm saying. Yes, there is an issue, I am experiencing it too, just like you, I even reported it on the first page of this topic, with screenshots and description, in fact, I reported this same problem in Arma 2 and DevHeaven too. Where do we disagree then? Well, we disagree at a part where people test performance on broken missions and report in with issues, that is not productive in any way, that's why we need benchmark. As for the link, I'll give it a read now, thx! edit So I gave it a read. They came up with a great conclusion, BI knows about it, they coded it after all, it's just a question of whether they want to fix it or not. Reply for Arma 2/OA was: "No, we're not gonna fix it.".
-
As I've said, we need a reliable benchmark. If nothing else, it will help to split the crowd with an actual issue from the crowd that thinks the game should run better at Ultra. What settings do you play on (screenshot if possible) and what are your specs?
-
No I haven't, I was one of the first to post in this topic with detailed info (LINK), and I've read and replied to dev who confirmed they are aware of issues. I reported to feedback tracker as well, so don't tell me to read the topic, cause you didn't even bother to read the first page I guess. You all missed my point which was, if you play a broken mission why do you come and report issues? How do you contribute that way? Reporting performance issues will be much easier when we have benchmark. This is a nightmare atm.
-
Indeed, there are many broken missions, I wasn't saying that only Wasteland is broken (which it is) but if every server out there with 10-20 players gives you bad performance than that's an issue not related to Wasteland. I was only trying to say that if you do play Wasteland you can expect performance issues. I don't see how this account registration date has anything to do with my comment. I've played all Arma games, only one I didn't play was OFP. I'm not a fanboy, I'm pointing out that a dev already confirmed that they are aware of issues and that when playing missions with more than 20 men you can expect performance issues. And no, if mission maker makes poor decisions which in return end in bad performance it's not BI to blame.

No one remembers *RING RING RING Banana Phone*? :D That alone would quickly put a stop to retards. We just need mission makers to script stuff like that in. Turn player into a chicken and let him walk around with a flag saying TKer and let him enjoy banana song. -
wasteland wasteland wasteland wastleand... does anyone play anything but wasteland?
Minoza replied to KamiSama's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
It's a trend, just like Evolution and Domination were. -
@Wasteland players Your problem is Wasteland itself. Try playing a mission with no more than 20 players, if you still experience performance issues, then come back and report. Looks like you talk about something you have no idea about. Most of the time users themselves are the cause of issues. Just take a look at all these Wasteland players crying because of bad performance, yet somehow they missed that it is not recommended (at this stage) to play missions with more than 20 people.

To Sever Hosters - PLEASE Turn off the grass.
Minoza replied to WingsOfDeath's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
@JakebIngram The point is that your problem is not grass, but something else which in return disables grass as well. All Beagle suggested was not to carry on with spreading false info. -
ARMA 3 base terrain textures WORSE than the original Operation Flashpoint
Minoza replied to SandboxPlaya's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
It's not just about poly count especially when it comes to vegetation, overdraw plays a big role here. -
Try avoiding servers with more than 20 players, that alone ended my struggling with bad performance.

Rendering grass at long distances: My thoughts about it

I like your idea. I say why not try and give feedback? Could you make an addon maybe? -
i7 at 5GHz certainly shouldn't be a solution.

Placebo? (the effect, not that mean moderator) :D

This is all I needed to hear. Thank you!

Been playing with video settings, few things that may be of interest.
Minoza replied to rotkeps's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Good observation, pretty much same here. I prefer more view distance, so I pushed it to 5k, but I keep object around 2k. AA is a killer for me, although I can run good enough with high AA, ATOC kills my performance completely when aiming through scopes and looking at grass thus forcing me not to use it, I only use FXAA, I personally like the sharpening effect. -
Did you guys try what Corvus_X suggested?
-
While I agree on pretty much everything you said, some issues regarding performance should be fixed, we have a situation where: 1. Player A has a rig which surpases minimum req by good margine, and a game runs decent on Low/Medium settings 2. Player B has a rig which surpases recommended req by far, and game runs like crap even on lowest settings Now, I understand there are many people complaining, and it only makes it harder because most of them simply have their settings set up wrong or have no idea that there are people with an actual problem, people like me, which aren't new to Arma and it's problems. I know for a fact that I am experiencing same issues like I did in Arma 2. Do you know that Arma 2 worked better for me with Phenom II 955 and H5870 then it did on i7 3770K and GTX670? Same thing happens in Arma 3 now. I hate it when I see people confusing this issue with a situation where random John cranks up his settings and rants cause game wont fly.

AFAIK there already is AO as part of PP.
