  1. I have searched the forum for creating a custom class/unit loadout as a ADDON, not using scripts. I cannot find either a wiki or a thread to follow, from start to finish. It honestly doesn't really matter to me what the unit looks like,, I just want to make a basic Addon unit that has different weapon loadouts. What I have downloaded and ready to go to start this project PBO unpacker/Packer that can binerize files Config editor (Laza) What do I need to do to make a Custom unit/Weapon Loadout for I can use it everytime and then make it into a PBO correctly (with correct folder and such). Do I need to make a bin file or can I just use a ccp file? I Visual C++ 2008 installed. Thanks for the help.

Hey I wanted to let you know my friend Niveus Leo fixed your issue in regards to relying on the tracked.pbo all you have to do is create a folder named data then in that a folder named detailmappy then place your RVMATS in that and create a .pbo out of the data folder. You can then place that with the rest of the .pbos for the mod in a mod folder and it will work fine. No errors on start up and the textures look great. hope this helps.
  3. Same critism, But very good work. Please show us more of your talented work by completing this addon. I would do it and try to help you but I know nothing about modding, textureing or modeling the object using oxygen. Again it looks really good so far, just a few things need to be fixed/added. Thank you Digital Centurion, EricM, JasonO and modEmMaik for getting it this far, again I want, but know next to nothing for modding, model creation or texturing..

    The ArmA 2 tips 'n trick thread

    I also like to play the game on the higher difficulty too, with similar very choices, but some things do not work without using the HUD. It would be great on any difficulty if I could get a lock on noise for stinger and javeline, It would be great if a warning light/sound would tell me a missle is incoming to my aircraft. But the game does not allow it (have to use HUD). The list goes on too as this is not VBS2. Marking on the map I do though because my memory is bad and still getting used to calling out targets correctly (I do not play Pub though...I play with a clan). Back on track though... -Learn to use Overwatch while with Fireteams -Learn Grid Coordinates -Learn Effective ranges of weapons -Learn that playing Pub is an entirely different game than Clan/Community Based...Played in the IC tourne for Arma 1, playing with Clan end Arma 1/Start of Arma 2. -Learn how to be a good vehicle commander with human players -Download training scenarios at Armaholic.com or armedassualtinfo.com . -Hope that the Robotech Talented Addon designer would do one for Arma 2... ... Theres more but those are some basic ones.
  6. Overwatch, Fire Support and cover fire are needed to be used in Arma 2 at all times. I totally agree with the last sentence of this quote. The place where the battle is happening (at least in its fiction) has a very low population so overgrowth grass and other should be happening most of the time. Also 3 videos you need to watch, as the AI cannot see through grass... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6mI410K_ZU&feature=related There REALLY needs to be a sticky for this game for people (any who is just new to this game, not any particular person) who don't seem to understand how much work BI put into the AI. See above videos. Nothing is scripted, it is all done by the AI. BTW if you keep firing from a position even with tall grass they WILL suppress that area even if they DON'T see you (again check videos above). Oh and solid point...

    Arma 2 - Female Characters?

    Agree. In this Arma gaming community we have very talented modders that made many mods from a transforming Robotech aircraft, to a spaceship that was almost as big as some of the islands themselves to making many fan made user mods. Therefore I think the a modder will make a female combat unit soon. I would like though to see BI implement it though so that it can be continually support by the developers. I personally would add it myself but I am not skilled in modding or animating. Curious, Evil_Echo what is the name of this mixed female/male clan that they are in? There was a clan that I was in contact with that had a mix of male/female, they were called "AI" for BF 2142. I can't seem to find them again though, sadly.
  8. I think right now in Placebo's timezone it sleepy time. But he will answer or another moderator will answer your question probably soon, because their are probably more people that have the game from gamersgate. Until then DO NOT get the update until you are sure from a BI/moderator as you might end up having to reinstall your game.
  9. This is similar to what I was trying to do with the wizard in the Arma 2 demo too. I was trying to put a chopper on search and destroy then a cycle waypoint after that. Seems like a limitation of the demo, sadly... And yes I was searching for this thread too instead of starting a new one.

After playing OFP, Arma 1 then Arma 2 and still no countermeasures for aircraft in these games, to make them more complete, it is baffling not 1 game in the series has them in the game (without mods). For the people that love to pilot in this game its like they are always flying with a handicap. Would it be tough to make a module that can go along with aircraft so that they have countermeasures Chaff/Flares made by the developers (BI)? If possible further down the road added through patches please put this as a priority, of course after fixing bugs and errors.

    T90 weak as hell?

    You need to pay better attention. What he says is intirely possible with ONE well placed round into a weak area of a tank. I don't see anyone talking about putting hundreds of rounds over a period of time into a tank. He is talking about a CONCEALED sniper up to almost a MILE away, waiting for the right moment to put a SINGLE or just a couple of AP rounds into what is already a vulnerable area. So your brilliant assumption of the tank just taking out the sniper is completely off the mark. Not to mention you don't demonstate much knowledge of real world weapons and their effects. The .50 sniper rifle is an anti-material weapon. That is a pretty amazing rifle. Watched a few you-tube videos of controlled firing, no wonder its a anti-material rifle and can exceed MANY miles in distance per shot To your point there are also different bullet types it uses for specific purposes and the bullet is pretty large. I think its also has a option for uranium tipped ammunition too, not sure though.

    I think you might be missing his point about penetratation. He was not talking about this game or any in particular, or any simulator. To be honest though, I need to read more of the charts he linked too. I am missing your point too listed below... "In real life, none of this is possible. Let me explain: My name is Mr American. I have a nice big automatic machinegun, with 1500 rounds. I am now unloading every single round into that T90 just in front of me. Oh noez, i ran out of ammo! And the T90 has 1500 scratch marks in it! Oh noez i am going to die now! T90 fires one HE round and Mr American is dead. " How does this relate to the T90 being weak or having a easy penetration for MG? I am confused are you now saying the T90 is too powerful because it can take a lot of MG rounds and it can kill a infantry man with a HEAT round? What do you mean by " it is simply metal bouncing of metal." as any penetration through the armor could cause electronics to fail, ammunition to go off, or a fire to start (depends on ammunition type) in real life. I am Confused... Also how does Reactive armor plating effects tanks of this modern age? I think they are mainly used to stop RPGs but I could be wrong. NOTE: Isn't the GAU cannon ammunition Uranium tipped or explosive tipped to especially go through armor plates also? Please re-read the links he gave you too and compare, because it seems you just didn't bother reading any of them.

I missed out on a armor system for tanks? Could you please link this I would like to read this suggestion as it is an interesting topic.

    Drag/Carry Players

    I don't know what I am doing wrong. I was playing tonight and after shooting a teammate in the leg I still can not carry or drag him to safety. I tried as the Squad leader and the Corpsman. This was in a seize the area map. There was no option to drag this person. Does the person have to unconscious or semi conscious? I found what you were talking about Big Dawg. I don't know how I missed the full version in the demo under singleplayer -> Editor. (like you except for saving). Thanks for the help guys in advance, I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

    Drag/Carry Players

    How do we Drag/Carry Players in the Demo. I know this was a feature shown in many previews but want to actually use it in the demo. If not, is this a module in the retail version? For example a soldier on the Battlefield in Arma 2 cannot stand up or walk. I would like to use my squad as covering fire while I drag/carry him to safety to use my medic skill. Thank you.

    Then my editor for the Arma 2 demo is borked because I don't have Units (F1) Waypoints (F2) Groups (F3) Syncronize (F4) Modules (F5) ? (F6) in my GUI.. In the full version I have 6 F keys I can use to change editing choices. Are you sure we are talking about the same editor? I not at work right now, someplace else... but I'll double check when I get home Big Dawg I could just be oblivious.

    Drag/Carry Players

    Thank you Big Dawg. When I am making a new mission I use the wizard, that must be where my confusion lies. I am trying to get people I know that will love the depth of this game, to get retail is the main reason why I have the demo still installed. If I start up my retail version of Arma 2 (Singleplayer -> Editor) the editor is much, much better and the missions can be converted to multiplayer through that editor.

    Well been doing that. When one my teammates had his legs damaged in the demo, I could not walk up to drag or pick him up. I need to find out which squad leader they syncronized the first aid module to in warfare Arma 2 Demo...and the other modules needed. Have to test out the "Seize the Area" too. Thanks guys. I did use the search feature but this question was in specific to the Arma 2 Demo, not the full editor nor the Retail version. Sadly the Arma 2 Demo Editor is seriously gimped interms of Modules, setting detailed WPs, etc.

    CRCTI Warfare ( cti ) MP

    Good work on the Warfare Mission. I like how the other objects are included too. I have a few questions though... Curious how does this work with High Command? Can you set WP types or other parameters? Can you command companies? The one thing I like about high command you can be very detailed on army movements. For example if you want to tell an entire company (Mechanized Infantry Platoon W/ No attachements and a Armor Platoon to move foward/advance the will in a line formation).
