Opinions on the Alpha Release Date

So I'm trolling by saying they'd just move on to an actual release instead of a delayed Alpha? Thanks for the infraction, Max Dickhead.

Needs to have a "Never" option.

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!

A further delay, he means. If the game was set to release around Q2/3 2013 before these events, it's probably tentatively planned for 2014 now. I just don't see them releasing a game with Lemnos and the small island while these events are taking place over it. And if the situation is not resolved positiively.....no real telling what would happen.

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!

I doubt the game will be spoken of again before the events are resolved. Which also precludes an Alpha sadly...
  5. I won't look for the post, but I remember a dev saying that fastroping wont be in the game as their PhysX implementation doesn't include "string physics", for ropes etc. Which also means towing ropes is out of the question...
  6. There is no "underground" anything in ArmA3. Not as far as we know anyway.
  7. Could someone please start another thread since the OP for this one is being obtuse?
  8. This wouldn't be an issue on it's own but it seems both opposing factions use the same set of armor (fictional merkavas with different camo schemes). We haven't seen any non-merkava armor yet, other than that one screenshot with some advanced Russian? tank.
  9. Personally I'm disappointed by 4 main things: - No 3D Editor. - No Deferred Shading. - No AI improvement beyond the scope of OA betapatches. - No improvement in AI behavior related to grass. I like the lighting improvements but think they're missing the point, as the problem with lighting is that it doesn't accomplish it's gameplay tasks. Green filter NVGs, non-sun/moon lights going through objects etc. I do like: - The animations. - PhysX (if it's implemented) - The improvement to the gear system.

    Operation E3

Should give it a rest in my opinion. We've seen what the presentation essentially has to offer and should probably just wait for BIS to upload high quality, more detailed ones to their channel. The Doupe.cz video is better quality than anything we'll see from Gamespot.

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

This is what I'm basing that assumption on: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?135429-Army-of-the-Czech-Republic-DLC&p=2163632&viewfull=1#post2163632
  12. Great to hear, was really worried there for a second, since the E3 presentation looked much smoother (so did the trailers)
  13. I'm assuming that video is running on a rig similar to this one? Without PhysX, no action going on...20 FPS :(

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

Definitely getting this, but it's disappointing to hear the maps will be exclusive to DLC owners (unlike Shapur and Proving Grounds) since it probably means the maps won't be adopted in multiplayer...

Someone please explain who the Booster guy is and what he said?

While this is quite probably the funniest thing I've ever read on this forum, you should stop spamming it.

Lighting does affect gameplay though....especially with shadow-casting lights, since it also enables indoor lighting (extremely important especially in ArmA 3 where all buildings are enterable.) Besides, deferred shading doesn't have the gigantic cost per light you seem to think it does. (In fact, after an initial cost, it's pennies) Probably a problem for BIS is that they would have to rewrite their MSAA implementation in relation to deferred shading.

Maybe we should make an ArmA 4 Confirmed Features thread then? :) In any case, I'm glad you guys are going for deferred shading, even if it'll never make it to ArmA 3.

The lighting looks a lot better! But the fact that the sun and moon are the only shadow-emitting light sources is disappointing. It means lights (like the searchlight in the video) still won't be blocked by objects. It also makes me think that indoor lighting hasn't been improved.

I have to say that I agree with some of the criticisms of the jogging animations shown in the last video. It was a mixture of the old clunky ArmA animation system, and the soldier seeming to cover more distance than visullay perceivable by the player.

Everyone will be mad when it's not up on time.
  23. It doesn't matter what you won't accept, it's a fictional universe made by BIS. Are you really trying to create your own canon for an ArmA game?

    Israel in ARMA3

Dude, right now, going by the story, it seems most likely that the new non-Islamic Iran allied (or made peace) with Israel.
  25. It's not Islamic Republic of Iran anymore, they had a revolution in the 2020s, check the BIS map where it says something like Iranian Republic. :)
