I have assgned the left Alt keyboard/button as "zoom" (usually numpad +) and left the right mouse button as "hold breath and zoom". Works well as you can zoom without breath hold using Alt but then switch to right mouse "hold breath" zoom when you need to take a shot

Sorry if you have already thought of this but it might be the servers running mods you don't have. Try going to Filter and select (I think) "Expansions" to "Hide" or select servers that have "no mods", "no ace" or "vanilla" somewhere in the title. The other thing that comes to mind is to make sure Battleye is set to "Default"

Agree absolutely. There are amazing aspects to this game that I just can't take advantage of (including the whole mod and add-on scene) because I don't know my way around computers very well. I am an idiot and of an age that didn't grow up with computers, consequently need idiot guides to everything.

Actually. Just discovered, it's not this mission. Game has started crashing when I try to run ANY mod. All fine with vanilla. Everything up to date via six updater. I need to look into this but will post in troublshooting section if no luck. Thanks

I'd love to play this but - the intro scene runs fine, then as soon as the game tries to start - the map screen appears for a few seconds and then the game crashes. I have re downloaded and installed as per the read me a number of times but the same thing happens. I am seriously rubbish around computers but if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.

It may be that the servers are running mods that you don't have installed. Just a guess

Great rifle but a kick like a mule. Fired them as a kid in army cadets and would be physically pushed backward

I had this problem. Solved when I made my headset the default sound device in Windows 7 instead of my speakers. Don't know if this is your problem but might be worth a look

Do a search on Atoc which came with 1.59. There are loads of posts about this issue. Most people recommend turning it off or reducing setting. In your Arma cfg (in documents if I recall)

If you installed OA after Arma2 they should have joined together to become Combined Operations. Run OA and if you have Arma2 maps all is well.

@ Jedra and Bee8190. Thanks guys. Really good advice. I will stick with it as I know I am missing a huge amount of content. I get frustrated with myself sometimes. For me it's a steep learning curve :-)

ACE updates absolutely fine with SU. By beef is not with ACE or SU at all. It's great. Where I get lost is that, across the board, MP servers all have such an array of mods required to play that it becomes virtually impossible for a non-techie like me to make any sense of it all. If it was just down to updating ACE using SU I wouldn't have a problem. I accept the deficit in knowledge lies with me. I just suspect I am not alone.

ACE etc. Even with Six Updater. For a non-techie like me it just seems unfathomable. You can't join this server because blah, blah, blah deleted content blah, blah, blah.
It all seems so esoteric. Does it really have to be so difficult?

For some reason BIS decided to run ATOC in the last patch without a clear option to turn it off (or explain what it was as far as I knew). Do a search there are loads of posts on this issue. I think most of us are hoping they will sort the problem with the next patch.

Shameless plug. [-44-] clan server is vanilla co-op only with tons of missions. Not always well populated but usually very good people who are in to teamplay when it is.

I hold my hands up if I am wrong here, but ages ago I remember a ( no mods vanilla) Domination version were you could hover a heli (chinook/blackhawk?) over cargo and, if you got the position of the heli right (very sensitive), mouse wheel scroll would bring a "pick up cargo" option up and away you went to drop it where needed. Haven't come across this scenario in ages so don't know if things have changed.
