  1. Just a quick question. I am really looking forward to arrowhead when its released. However i understand its actually a standalone expansion and that doesn't need arma 2 in order to play. So will my current mods be compatible such as ACE, SLX Flir, War particles etc... or is it back to the drawing board again

    By the way you wont need to br bringing SLX FLIR over... OA is supposed to have the FLIR simulation ported over from VBS


  2. I'm sorry that I don't know how to figure this out yet, but how do I use this with the UKF weapons? has anybody released a pack which does this yet?

    Just add this into the units "Init" field and they should be supplied with a L85A2, 9 magazines, 2 hand grenades and a smoke.

    That was just a quick example off the top of my head, but you can add whatever you like, you just need to know the classname of the weapon you want each soldier to have and the magazine to go with that weapon. Most weapon addons, such as the UKF weapons pack, has the classnames within the readme for each magazine and weapon in order to make your units to spawn with your specific loadouts.

    E.g if you wanted to add RobertHammers M249 para w/ ACOG scope (assuming you have the addon downloaded & installed) then you would put "this addweapon "RH_M249pacog"" and to add the "magazines" you would put "this addmagazine "200Rnd_556x45_M249""

    I know it all looks a bit fiddly but most of it is just copy and pasting.

    STALKERGB You can make your units looks like SAS operators in "Black Kit" (CQB) ? Just do reskin your units and add gasmask with red visior from Schnapsdrosel BlackOps.

    He has stated in his "WIP British 4 rifle Soldiers" Thread that he would be doing CT (Black, like in your picture) uniforms for his SAS soldiers once they are released (Bare in mind that nowhere has stalker stated that THESE are his SAS units, these are just generic SF for the British army)

    By the way stalker you might as well take that RS link off the front page now mate, it's reached it's download limit (10 times?)


  3. Surely a decent guncam for the new apache can't be too much too ask?

    BIS seemed to like working on the model a lot but it has the exact same guncam as the cobra, not sure how difficult this could be, but my guesswork is telling me it can't be extremely difficult to those who know how to do it.

    Just thought I would throw that suggestion out there to show this sort of thing is wanted.

    Couldn't have said it better myself, I don't see any other developers giving Christmas presents, BIS is quite possibly the kindest developers out there right now and should have a well deserved rest in my opinion.

  5. What does triggering fade mean? Is it some sort of bug?

    FADE is copyright protection software built into the game that detects if you are using a legitimate copy or not, and if for whatever reason it detects that you have an illegitimate copy of the game then FADE will degrade certain aspects of the game such as accuracy and performance, which will hopefully annoy the living shit out of the pirate so much that it ultimately forces them to actually purchase the game or just stop playing.

    Back to topic, I just updated to .189 and all the custom ACE sounds that I was enjoying beforehand are now gone, were they perpousfully removed to enable compatibility with various sound mods or is it just some sort of bug?


  6. I'm a little confused with some of the features in this, I got the targeting down perfectly, really nice system, but what is the waypoint system? I just don't get it, am I supposed to be seeing something new on my HUD or is my jet supposed to start flying at a smooth consistent altitude towards the waypoint? if it is supposed to be either of those it's just not happening.

    I mean, I must be missing something, I'm pressing "M" to go into the map and clicking places to place my waypoint but the only result I'm getting is a marker on the map, nothing more.

    EDIT:

    Scratch that, I just noticed what the waypoint system does, but I'm still having a little pain of keeping the jet level as I am targeting, not nice while your targeting your jet is making like a space shuttle and shooting for the moon.


  7. This terrain is stunning, but I have found a bit of a bug when it comes to using the map with lower terrain settings... a picture says a thousand words

    ( All settings on very high apart from terrain, post processing and Anti-aliasing )

    I've never seen this sort of bug before, but it only seems to happen when I try to play the map with anything below "Very High" terrain settings which can be quite demanding from my rig

  8. First as all other, Thanks for an awesome mod and thank for putting all this effort in to it.

    Now, one problem I'm getting:

    Addon 'acex_c_men_usarmy' requires addon 'ace_c_gear'

    Cant find it in any of the rars? Where can I get this?

    Btw, awesome with the auto updater. Makes life so much easier if I just could get that ace_c_gear file :p

    Can anybody help me out?

    Oh and btw I DO have the ace_c_gear file but it's just not picking it up (Launching it with arma 2 laucnher and various mods)

    Help very much appreciated, really wanna play this mod properly

    That is actually extremely difficult to do, it requires retexturing and possibly remodeling of every unit and object in the game... not easy, the FLIR or "thermal vision" on the UAV isn't an accurate simulation, but they will be transferring an accurate FLIR simulation from VBS2 into Operation Arrowhead next year.

    But if realism and accurate simulations isn't what you care about, and you just want that fancy black & white blurry effect from the UAV then here it is.

  10. hey stalker,A little remark on the size of the L85,maybe it has to be like this in order to be able to put the models hands on the foregrip(what do i know about that?)but i think you modded the weapon a little out of size.

    the real one is 780 mm (709 mm in Carbine variant,not shown here).

    below there's a pic to comparis your rifle(top) with a real size one in the same angle(bottom) both layd flat for comparison.

    Can't really see much of a difference in that picture mate, I think you're gonna have to make it a little bit bigger for us to see any noticeable difference (or is it just me?)

This mod makes some amazing changes to the AI, for so long have I had to get used to walking around in plain daylight under the command of an AI squadleader , while there's an enemy squad no more than 200 meters away from us casually walking around, in those situations I find myself thinking "Uh... hello? there's a Russian squad standing right in front of us... wake up"

    But now with ace 2 the AI is engaging an enemy squad just as quickly as I can engage them myself, just how it should be.

    NOT ONLY that but it finally seems to matter what weapon the AI is using in this game, a squad of soldiers with ACOGs, EOTECHs, and Aimpoint sighted weapons like an M4 or M16A4 will pretty much always do better than an enemy squad with iron sight AK-47s. With the vanilla arma 2 I constantly found myself being shot in the head from about a mile away from an AK-107 after I gave my position away as a sniper. Not anymore it seems, thank God for ACE mod. :)


  12. Hi stalker - just thought of something. In the Mercenaries pack the update has units without headgear attached by default, due to popular demand. Would you consider doing this with your units? I am working on a Clan Beret you see. :cool: So if there was just one unit that had no hats (well a soldier and medic) then we would be on easy street implementing that.

    If it's a lot of bother I wouldn't worry about it, but it would be useful for me :p

    Seconded on that, I was getting a little bit sick of looking at the ugliness of a balaclava clipping through a beanie hat, but just as stryder said if it's too much trouble I'm sure we will manage haha.
