Well I watched it... What do you want to discuss? -
Crikey! You need a new pc, man! How long have you had this set-up? Spending less and £500 will get you something 4-5 times as fast.
-
Well he says he's using on board sound. That could use some CPU cycles. Yes I'm sure that his PC using using default DX codecs but his sound system may have really old Codecs and drivers which chould be updated or optimised. Most people miss this but I'm convinced it CAN make a difference.
-
That really depends what sound system he has on board now. It may be that the codecs he's using are struggling and THAT would have an impact on overall performance of the game especially if he's using an AC97 or similar.
-
How about upgrading sound card so that you're not using onboard sound? Strange to say this has been a problem for me with other graphically intense games. Also sound drivers are sometimes an issue and it can make a surprising difference to games as bottlenecks here can occur.

Never got into OFP. Am a big fan or Arma2 and OA. Is it still worth buying after all this time or have the newer iterations superseded OFP by and large? In the UK the GOTY edition is only £7.49. Although heavily panned on release what about Dragon Rising - surely worth £2.99 on Amazon?

Have been reading and watching the news today regarding the leak of logs to certain news agencies and onto Wikileaks itself. Makes for horrific and thought-provoking reading showing that contrary to what me might like to think and what the military and governments like us to believe war is still not an exact science and precision fighting/bombing is still a myth. I am appalled by the stories of blue on blue and blue on white catastrophes. Almost feel I should put Arma aside for a while. Just shows those bugs/idiosyncracies withing the game really DO make it more realistic. Unfortunately...

Or "wheors me tabs, like?" "Ah'm starvin', me" "that's canny enough, that is." -
MW2 anyone? This isn't that kind of game. Games depicting the 'dark' side of human nature have to be done 'humorously' or be a 'send-up'. Remember the game is based on military training software and that's how it must be seen. There also has to be in this day and age (possibly unfortunately) an amount of politcal correctness.

The destructability is a bit hit and miss - not all objects can be destroyed. However I wouldn't let that be your deciding factor on the game - enjoy the demo it will show you what this game is capable of.
