    Hey, I'm eightball and I've been working on the tac-100 board and also the SDV (swimmer delivery vehicle, which is on the back burner at the moment). Heres the latest renders of the tac-100. Keep in mind none of this has been added in-game yet. I just finished the models a couple days ago and also lack the knowledge for adding stuff into arma2. Here's the last render I did of the SDV, haven't worked on it in a couple weeks
  3. too bad there aren't static and kinetic friction interactions in the game. Would be a great way to lock stuff onto moving objects without needing to deal with attachments and cargo objects. I'm not sure how much more complex (lag) it would make things, but it would definitely make destructible terrain a lot more realistic when it occurs. I've seen an A10 crash into some trees and it just stops and gets stuck in the trees. I've ran into rocks with tanks and they haven't been pushed or rolled etc. It would also make stopping a heli a lot easier if the skids provided friction with the ground so a nose flare and power down wasn't required to keep it from moving forward.

    Ok here's a logical modification to the interior of virtually every aircraft. The horizon display, i forget its technical name isn't visible when there's a shadow over it. I was hoping someone out there would turn it into a true light emitting display.

    Using Campaign Helicopter Support

    you open up your map then hit space bar select communication->transport etc etc and at the last sub menu when you select it the heli will go where you have the cursor on the map. You can also do it without the map, ie point at a spot on the ground. Be warned, if the spot you select is ~100 yards away from any trees, the heli will most likely hit them and blow up. The AI pilots are absolutely horrrrrible at landing the helis. For extractions, you better make sure you select a spot in a WIDE open field for the heli to come pick you up. I assume you're on the mission to find Levo-something and you go to the spots marked with X's on the map etc. Well the 1st X (closest to the camp you get the map locaitons from and hear about the Oligch guy) you cant get anywhere near it without the heli crashing. And for extraction from there, theres a field straight WEST about 2-3 miles away which I've found is the only spot remotely near it that can allow a AI heli to land.

    grapics card problem

    That system wont come anywhere close to running arma2. You need a shader model 3 card to run it, and even with one with that cpu etc, it would be running as a 1 fps slideshow and look like wolfenstein 3d. Honestly I should have read these forums ebfore buying arma2 because I probably would have wait at least another 3-6 months for them to iron out any bugs. But at this point i'm skeptical if they will ever fix even 25% of the major bugs that make the game unplayable. You will need a new system to be able to run arma2. Personally I'm hoping OPF2 works a lot better than arma2. I wouldn't even try to play the game without a 8800GTS 512 or higher.

    AI Heli Pilots VERY POOR

    I'm on the mission where you need to track down the Levano or whatever guy and his 2nd in command and I have UH1 support available but the stupid thing keeps crashing into trees when told to land in HUGE clearings. The UH1 never just goes straight down onto the designated landing zone, it is always going far away then coming down into the forest and crashing. This seriously needs to be fixed. I can't imagine being able to write any MP missions with AI insertions that insert me within 200 yards of a tree else it will surely manage to find the one tree in the field and blow up. Ridiculous AI in this game. Absolutely a disappointment. Don't forget about the AI with xray vision finding me behind a wall without making a sound. or my AI fireteam members finding an AI rifleman 400 yards away in dense trees which I couldn't even spot from 50 yards. And then there's the missions where I let the AI control Cooper and he keeps telling everyone to get in a vehicle then out, then back in, then.... you guessed it, back OUT. In the US they don't let us return games that have been opened. So please no comments about me returning it if I don't like it. Thanks, now please fix this trash.

    This might be unrealistic, but how bout an active camouflage one. ie Predator. Would definitely need to place limits on its use. Perhaps have some kind of generator that needs to be charged to use it so you onyl get 30 seconds of use every 3-5 minutes. I know the DoD is working on such cammo and has already demonstrated it but its still limited by power supply so a infantry unit couldn't utilize it till we get some fusion batteries, but a tank or heli could possibly use it. To make it fair it would definitely need to have the rough refraction/multi-faceted a la predator, not just something completely transparent.
  11. Panda, I do a lot of solidworks modeling but I dont know squat about mods for arma2. I just browse this forum for updates on the ACE2 project. Anyways I have a ar15 model with a quad rail free float hand guard (modeled after my YHM spectre length free float diamond pattern hand guard, i think its 10"), magpul XLM? rail covers, A3 upper, 30 rnd mag, and magpul MOE stock, with a low profile gas block (under the free float hand guard), most of the pins in the model, and a conic muzzle break/flash supp (directs energy straight forward in a cone to reduce muzzle climb etc). Its accurate down to a couple thousandths of an inch and i'd be happy to donate the solidworks files to the project. All i ask is you throw a credit in there for me. thanks, eightball edit: i forgot to mention that the only missing component visible from the outside is the trigger. its also missing the trigger assembly internals (springs, hammer, disconnector) and there is no auto-sear of course nor pin hole for it but that's an easy mod just adding the pin hole and pin. edit again: I have an SKS rifle (norinco with spike bayo) and was wondering if one of these models were still needed for the project. Also i'd need to know how much detail it would require because that ar15 model took me about 40 days to do working in most of my spare time. Id assume it would at least need the bolt separate and the rest of it being in a single body with no concern to insides or any other moving parts.
