normally i would go through the whole thread to find out what download i should use here, but i just dont have the time today for that, so my question is, what should i download for the best performance and best look?

I have been wanting to create some reskins for this game but i cannot find a properly detailed tutorial to do this, i have some knowledge on where to start, so let me tell you what i know so you dont have to ask. I know how to extract pbo files and how to zip them back up, and i have photoshop cs4, i know how to use photoshop abit, but im no pro, i also have the official tools that were released, but i was seeing reskins for this game before the tools even came out, so does that mean i dont even need them? I frequently visit the company of heroes relic forums also, and i found this nice tutorial with pictures someone made on how to do this, link here http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=235124 Is it possible for me to just use that tutorial ? do the same things apply in arma 2? i'm assuming the photoshop work is very similar but when it comes to configs, and other stuff in the pbo i have no clue, anyways, i figured maybe someone here can help a newb modder out, it would be greatly appreciated

This is funny, i was just about to make a topic similar to this, I currently use the -world=Empty command line so the game starts up nice and fast, but its so damn ugly i was wondering if i could atleast change the weather and time of day so it would be more interesting. Maybe a sunset or a dark night with stars, etc.. nothing special just not so plain looking. back ontopic, i would be interested in your idea if it didnt kill the fps to much.

this map is amazing, i used the cold weather module along with the nims weather mod and its simply amazing, kills my fps though, but its worth it, hopefully we will get a performance patch in 1.5 , so i can enjoy all these new islands coming out.

Are there any missions where i can play this game similar to company of heros? like with a birds eye view of the battlefield? also would it be possible to click on one of my soldiers then click a location, say behind a rock and my soldier will move there?, basically im lookin for a typical rts experiance with arma2, oh and no first person mode. I know abit about the Warfare mode, but its played in First person is it not?

Any chance that these will be converted? I'll try and do it myself if someone could help me, i have all the tools and stuff, but im abit of a noob Chechen Rebels created by Ulfhedin http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=4733 Modern Spetsnaz created by Datakill http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=4811 they would be arma2 so well, to bad we cant use them right now.

- after I controlled the UAV, the visuals remain with that grainy filter from the UAV camera lol sounds like a cool effect, im gonna try that out.

damn, this sucks, i pm him last week to ask him about his work and today he pm me back with this news, very unfortunate. I have a old motherboard and cpu he can have, its not great because the reason i dont use it anymore was because it wasn't running arma 2 good at all, but my video card was a 7950 at the time, so with a better card and a bit of a overclock of the cpu he could get it working for atleast testing the sounds out etc. i cant remember the exact specs of the motherboard, i know its a asus and the cpu is 2.6 i think. ill check it out in more detail later tonight.

Hey, i was wondering if it was possible to use a script to change the weather, time of day, year, while in game or 3d editor. I am trying to achieve a certain look for the game, and having to go go back into the editor every 2 seconds to change the setting is annoying, so i want to use something while i can see it change infront of my eyes, so i can get the perfect result. Anyone know how this can be done?

nice results, i have some screens i'll post later on with some of my results, i actually got a really cool setting where the sky is purple and has a small amount of fog, now if only there was a mod where it actually snowed in the winter months and there were heat waves and or effects in the summer, that would be awesome.

Judging by what i've heard from his a10 sound mod, which is great and now this video SNKMAN posted, i would have to agree, personally i dont know Mark, (hey mark nice to meet ya) but he obviously knows whats up when it comes to sound design, and in all honesty alot of the stock arma2 sounds are not up to par with the rest of the game, so hopefully BIS will consider looking at him for future titles, or his private mod could maybe be implemented into the game, speaking of that, now im dyin to hear this private mod lol.

looks to small to me, he doesn't just walk around the forest anyways, he chills in a cave. I heard that if you go into the editor though and place some random animals in the forest and set the time to nighttime he will come out for a feast, sit back and remember to catch the yeti in action.

interesting, i only have 2gb ram, and I'm using XP, do you think i could benefit from tryin this ? Another thing you have 8GB of ram and you still get texture pop-ins ? thats weird, i get it to but not very much, are you using the -xp command? i heard that helps with 8GB ram.

now that the tools are out, could this be done ? , i do not have any modding skills but if someone maybe points me in the right direction of how i could do this, what files to take a look at etc.. I will release it to the community if i am able to make it work, basically all i want to do is change it so when the game starts up, my soldier is in third person, and then if i want first person i just hit enter like usual, seems pretty straight forward right?

I was wondering if there was a way to make third person view the default when i start up the game ? I love all the views in the game, but i used to play socom and im so used to tpv, i like to be able to see more around me, and when i switch soldiers i always have to press the enter key again to switch from fpv to tpv, its not that big of a deal, but i was wondering if there was something i could change maybe in my profile, or even a mod that could do this? thanks to anyone who can help me out with this.

I have so many mods in my command line that it wont let me add anymore lol, whats the best way to load all of the mods i have without putting them all in one folder?

I've been having this weird problem with my monitor lately, its not arma2 related but i thought maybe someone here could help me out with this, whats happening is there are these annoying horizontal lines constantly waving up my screen and it looks terrible, I've tried reseating my graphics card, checked the cables, tried 60 hertz and 75 hertz for refresh rates, and ive messed around with the monitor settings on the monitor itself, and it sometimes also makes text look darker then it should, the only reason i ask here is because I've searched all over and haven't found a solution for this, the weirdest part though is that i uninstalled my drivers, and when the resolution is at its lowest and no drivers are installed the lines dissapear but as soon as i install the drivers, and i set my default resolution which is 1680x1050 the lines come back again, I've tried drivers 190.38 and i am now currently using 186.18 and the same problem happens, its starting to distract me while playing the game as i can constantly notice it in the sky mostly. Sorry for the long non related arma2 post lol, but my hopes is someone here might know whats going on with this monitor of mine. heres my specs Hanns-g 22inch Monitor BFG GTS 250 OC 2GB Ram E7400 @2.80GHz OC @ 3.31GHz XP Pro SP3 Intel CoreDuo

thanks bulldogs, ill try all of those things you mentioned, i hope its not a dying card or monitor since they are both new, so that would be a pain in the ass, cables can be a quick easy replacement though, hopefully i get it sorted out soon.
