    MachStudio Pro (now Free)

(Pulled from another forum...) Mach Studio Pro is a pro level GPU accelerated 3D Renderer. Last week it was $4000, now it is free, a much nicer price ;-) It is not a modeller or animator, just a renderer. But you could use free packages such as Blender and Wings3D to create the content for it. http://www.studiogpu.com/ It requires a DirectX 11 graphics card and a suitable OS. Servers benchmark

[quote=NoBrainer;1910656 <snip> PLAY1 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 Hyperthreading disabled FPS = 15 PLAY2 -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=3 Hyperthreading disabled FPS = 6 -cpuCount=2 -exThreads=3 Hyperthreading enabled FPS = 6 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 Hyperthreading enabled FPS = 6 all 4 cores used <snip> Have you tried it with -exThreads=1 (File Operations)? I think you only need to run '-exThreads=1' on the server. I read somewhere that the 'File Operations' only need to be multi-threaded (Unless this has now changed). From previous testing myself I found this the best option across my servers.
  4. Your welcome. I should have pointed out the reasoning for a couple of the 'settings' MinBandwidth=20000000; I selected this value as I know I'll always have this available bandwidth to the system MaxBandwidth=70000000; I selected this value as I know I'll never acheive the full bandwidth to my connection (thinking of other systems and services that also utilise my link). The other values are basically ones I've seen posted by other users (I have tweaked the numbers aorund before, but so far have found these to be the best for me so far). The 'MinErrorToSend=0.0024999999;' value I believe will help with the map update tracking, and possibly help with warping you can sometimes encounter. This is the value you may tinker with the most.
  5. I'm presuming thats per month. I wouldn't worry too much about it in all honesty - That should be more than enough for gaming requirements. If you plan on using the system to host other things (web, ftp etc) then perhaps that might be a problem, but as said, for general gaming and voice use it should be fine. As for a config suggestion. I doubt thats 1000 Mbit directly for your sole use, and is shared (at least the portion that connects to the internet will be). You could try the following values (ArmA2OA.cfg) MinBandwidth=20000000; MaxBandwidth=70000000; MaxMsgSend=512; MaxSizeGuaranteed=1024; MaxSizeNonguaranteed=64; MinErrorToSend=0.0024999999; I use these across my 2 systems that have a dedicated 100MB direct-link to the Internet. One other point to note - If you have access to the bandwidth monitoring stats of your system, you can gauge the amount of bandwidth being used at various times/days and tweak the config accordingly.
  6. Would it be possible to put up the v1.2.6.xxx (with TS beta pre-11 or 12) package onto your site again? That was the last known working version we used as a group that didn't cause us any issues (worked brilliantly) :)
  7. Using the latest RC1 TS Server and Client along with ACRE v1.2.9.370 We've noticed an issue with 'direct' chat within vehicles. You can talk as soon as you get into a vehicle, but as you move away from the point you 'inserted' into a vehicle; the 'direct' chat starts to fade away until you can't hear anyone talking (you can still see lip/mouth movement). If you then move back (in the vehicle) to the same original starting point (where you inserted into the vehicle), or thereabouts, the 'direct' chat returns and you can hear again. Please can this be investigated as we've found it to be a real immersion breaker!
  8. This is actually also happening with the client! *I've just tried firing up my local client version and I'm getting the same error dialog appearing*
  9. I see v1.2.9.359 available on the ACRE download site. I've installed this (clientside) and it seems to work with the latest TS Beta Clients (pre-13) [Added after posting] Seems that if I update the server with this latest build (1.2.9.359) and start the arma2oa server exe I get the following error dialog box: 'Include file idl\clients\global\addons\main\script_mod.hpp not found' This happens when I try to load the @ACRE mod from the mod line when running the server. Doesn't happen with prior versions.
  10. 16AA Server Specs (We have 2 servers) Dedicated HP Blade BL460c 2 * Intel Xeon® CPU E5420 @ 2.5GHz (2 Physical Processors) - Quad Core 16GB RAM PC2-5300 DDR2 2 * 146GB SFF SAS HDD's (RAID 1) Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 (64-bit OS) 100MB (1-to-1 connection) The 'Arma2OA.cfg' file has the following settings... language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=100000; Resolution_Bpp=32; Windowed=0; MinBandwidth=20000000; MaxBandwidth=70000000; MaxMsgSend=512; MaxSizeGuaranteed=1024; MaxSizeNonguaranteed=64; MinErrorToSend=0.0024999999; MaxCustomFileSize=2000000; AToC=0; I've not logged onto our current mso mission for a few days but it has been up and running for a number of days now (I'm guessing at least a week, possibly 10 days).
  11. This was reported early on with version 1.2.x but on their old bug-tracking area (via Devhaven) - I know they are aware of the install problem as I logged a pretty lengthy report on it. I haven't seen the bug ported over to their new bug-tracking area. On the old bug-tracking system it was scheduled to be resolved for v1.3 - Whether that is still the case, I don't know. I now use their ZIP package and manually move folders rather than using the EXE packages. With this you can manually move the TS Client to the folder of your choice :)
  12. I haven't read all of the posts within this reply but I can only recommend you try the following: Remove/Delete the following: [The ARMA2/OA Folder' date= where you have your mods] @acre @jayarma2lib [ARMA2/OA userconfig folder] ../userconfig/acre [The ARMA2/OA Root Folder] dsound.dll Note: I use steam so I have copied this file (dsound.dll) to both the ARMA2 and ARMA2:OA folder (just to be sure) - This is because the ARMA2 and OA install into seperate directories, and the retail version doesn't [Teamspeak Plugin Folder] acre_winXX.dll (XX denoting whether you have 32 or 64) Deleting all the above should give you a clean slate to work from. Grap the latest ZIP file of ACRE and then manually move the files and folders into the relevant folders (as above but reverse the deletion). I've just done this and it's working fine for me :)
  13. We're definately experiencing that fraction of a second client freeze each time the 'time sych' occurs. This happens to all connected at the time to the server running mso.
  14. This was something I reported on when ACRE were using the DevHaven to track and log bugs - It was quite in-depth in the issue and I don't see the ticket ported over to their latest bug tracking system. Unfortunately as the access is now restricted (DevHaven ACRE section) - I can't refer to the bug reported.

    Need headset recommendation.

I have the Sennheiser PC-350, and find these good enough for my needs. Also find the large ear piece fits over the entire ear and thus I don't feel the affects of ear fatigue/discomfort after several hours of constantly wearing them, like some other headsets I've used in the past (therefore very comfortable)
  16. Excellent :) Several of the 16AA lads will test the updated files shortly.
  17. Wolffy - Something obviously isn't working as intended; unless you think the mass-spawning of the enemy vehicles (some with troops, others without) are suppose to occur. If that is the case then I don't think many servers will handle this type of activity as it just puts too much strain onto them. With our server the Server FPS can drop to 0, usually into the lower single digits when we come across the localised mass-spawned vehicles. It's still happening no matter what reasoning is provided within your reply. If you think the 'enemypop' and 'terroristcell' aren't the reason for the issues we are experiencing then its somewhere else. What can we do to further help you find the root cause? Would inviting you onto one of our servers to witness the issue we are encountering be of any use to you? We can also provide the full server RPT too!
  18. Will get back to you at some point today on that Wolffy.au just to double check we were using the RC (I think we were using the latest 3.4 beta).
  19. Currently experiencing this mass-spawning of vehicles (bicycles) at the Airfield spawn area. I notice the arma2oa process is at just over 1.3GB of RAM being utilised. I have managed to take a few screenshots of it. The system I am using is a HP Blade BL460c, 2*2.5GHz CPU (8Core), 2*146SFF 10k HDD, 16GB RAM, Win2008R2 x64
  20. To be honest I've not noticed anything (other than slight warping/rubber-banding of civs movement). This was during a time where we've just started the server and are clearing the RASMAN area of the map, so its early days yet. Should I notice anything over the coming days as/when we conduct further taskings I'll post back here.
  21. We have numberous/many ?xxxm markers on the map (and I mean MANY). Mostly in the SE area of the map (although not limited too). I believe we are utlising the 3.4beta version.

Buy Steam ARMA2 & OA, OR Bye it on disc?

I would normally recommend the STEAM route, but on this occasion with the ARMA2 series, I would strongly recommend the Disc version (for the least amount of headache). From the experience the ARMA2 customers have recieved from their 'STEAM' purchases (in terms of updates, and expansions; including DLCs) has left users frustrated, annoyed, disappointed and no doubt other feelings that I don't need to mention. As for using the CD-Key against the STEAM platform I don't believe that option is available for this particular game, so I don't believe you can.
  23. Have to agree - We've been using v1.2.6 and for the most part it's been good to us (alot less issues than prior versions). Most of the issues we've encountered since the release is down to the end user doing something wrong or forgetting to do something during the install/update.
  24. My ACE user config file is at VER 10, while yours is VER 9. I would resync and ensure you also sync the latest 'ace_clientside_config.hpp' file
  25. That certainly wasn't the type of thinking going through my mind when I initially purchased the Arma2 game via STEAM. Had I had the luxury of 'hindsight' before the fiasco of the purchasing the expansion (OA) and its absolute knightmare getting it to merge with Arma2 to make it the expansion (CO) then I certainly would NOT have purchased the ARMA 2 on STEAM in the first instance. If BIS, or its publisher(s) wish to reimburst me the STEAM purchase cost that I've paid out (ARMA 2, ARMA 2:OA, DLC-BAF, DLC-PMC), or provide courtesy copies of the series then I'm more than happy to go the Retail DVD route. On another note - I do have many other games on the STEAM platform (including Paradox games that someone else mentioned has issues, which I've not actually encountered), and the BIS product has been the only one that has gone badly in such a way that it leaves me quite disappointed.
