  1. What Anti-Virus package are you using, and have you updated it? I'm using Microsoft's Security Essentials and it's not detected anything untoward.

    ded server minimum specs

I've got 3 servers running using the following specs 1) Intel Xeon 3.06GHz, 2GB RAM, XP Professional SP3, 100MB (1-to-1 connection) 2) Dual Intel Xeon 2.80GHz (with Hyper-Threading), 2GB RAM, XP Professional SP3, 100MB (1-to-1 connection) 3) Intel Core2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, XP Professional SP3, 100MB (1-to-1 connection) The first 2 are on-loan to an ARMA II British Co-op Squad (Romeo 2.5 www.romeo25.com), and to my knowledge both run fine (We've had a Joint OP on one of them with around 50 folks, which I did encounter sporadic moments of lag but mainly at the beginning when everyone was joining) - Both systems are setup for 64players The third is run for the gaming squad I participate with (Volcbat - www.volcbat.com) and is setup for 64 players, and so far I've not encountered any issues with it. One point to note is that the 3 systems are connected to a pure 100MB Internet connection, so bandwidth isn't an issue :)

    Very Unprofessional Assassins

I appreciate the clarification, and I was referring to reply #200 (as I hadn't seen the responses after - I was too haste my reply than realising that there were alreay continued discussions going on). The purpose of my initial reply (sorry for taking this off-topic folks) was to ensure people understand opinions expressed by an individual is solely the expression of that person, and not for a group/party (or in our case, a Squad); unless stipulated otherwise, and without the need of some form of disclaimer. Going back to the photo - It seems a beautiful location, shame I've no (or lack of) skill/experience in both rock climbing and mountaineering otherwise I'm sure I'd try it out :)

    Very Unprofessional Assassins

Not *all* the "VCB Lads" are participating here walker so I think it's unfair that you say so. I personally couldn't give a monkey's on anyone's opinion to this topic to be honest; as for one, it doesn't personally involve me. Great photo of your trip by the way - My latest snow adventure involved me busting my left knee due to a Ski accident - Hope it's all repaired by the time my next Ski trip comes along. [Added after posting] I missed all the replies made on this page (p21) before I posted this reply!
  5. I don't think he's fully recovered from the w/end of drinking due to a mini-squad meet that occurred this past Saturday gone ;) :D *Going back on-topic - I do hope that some form of Falklands Island map appears at some point :)

Guy looking to buy concealed weapons :)

    That made me smile :)
  7. Finally have managed to get the 'extract PBO..' to show up in the context menu thanks to reading through this thread. I basically ran the .reg program provided by the Original Poster and then went into the Registry editor and ran a 'find/search' on criteria 'pbo'. I manually removed any entries relating to the cpbo program (all keys, strings) - Don't just delete everything that is found as some of the search doesn't relate to the cpbo program/association; therefore you risk causing issues with your system. Once I was happy that I had removed all pbo/cpbo related registry keys I then reboot my system. Once logged back in I re-ran the cpbo.exe program which installed without any errors and bingo, when right-clicking on a pbo file I can see the 'extract PBO' command within the context menu. Thanks to everyone who has participated in this - As its helped me. ..and before I forget - I'm using Window 7 Ultimate (x64)

  11. O&O Defrag 11 Professional Edition - Free License http://www.oo-software.com/home/en/special/defragspecial/ The latest edition is at Version 12 (and I suspect this supports Win7 32/64) - I've read reports that v11 isn't working with Win7 (at least on 64bit); so suspect the ploy is to hope that the user ends up paying the small fee for an upgrade.

O&O Defrag 11 Professional Edition - Free License

There are also a few other recommended Defrag programs out there (free for 'home/personal' use) The 2 highly rated ones are: Auslogic Disk Defrag (you can defrag more than HDD at any one 1 time) MyDefrag

  14. I'm using the latest official drivers released from nVidia (v195.62) with my GTX285 without issue (Also running Win7 x64)
  15. Not sure if you have the latest drivers for your motherboard, but I thought I'd post the URL to the Drivers for Vista x64 http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=2695&ost=windows+vista+x64+(64-bit)#anchor_os You can also obtain the latest BIOS from the site.

    Running Arma2 from SSD

KC, I've finally managed to get everything setup and reinstalled, although I've not had a chance to game with ARMA 2 yet (probably tomorrow 'Sunday' now). I can't say the speed difference is a 'wow' but more of a 'hmm, that does feel a little faster/nippier than my previous drives' Now where I have seen a dramtic 'ooo, now that's faster' is when I'm copying files around, or just generally doing thing (e.g. installing programs). My old HDD's were: 2 * Seagate Barracuda ES.2 500GB (ST3500320NS | GB0500EAFJH) These are designed more for server related systems. I have benchmarks which I'll post here (using HDTune): --- [sEAGATE] --- Single Seagate HDD (with 64k Block Size) HD Tune: GB0500EAFJH Benchmark Transfer Rate Minimum : 48.2 MB/sec Transfer Rate Maximum : 111.2 MB/sec Transfer Rate Average : 84.4 MB/sec Access Time : 12.5 ms Burst Rate : 60.5 MB/sec CPU Usage : -1.0% 64k Block Size --- Dual (RAID0) Segate HDD's (with 64k Block Size) HD Tune: Intel Raid 0 Volume Benchmark Transfer Rate Minimum : 90.0 MB/sec Transfer Rate Maximum : 150.0 MB/sec Transfer Rate Average : 129.8 MB/sec Access Time : 12.7 ms Burst Rate : 53.2 MB/sec CPU Usage : -1.0% --- [sAMSUNG] --- Dual (RAID0) Samsung HDD's (with 64k Block Size) HD Tune: Intel Raid 0 Volume Benchmark Transfer Rate Minimum : 92.3 MB/sec Transfer Rate Maximum : 179.6 MB/sec Transfer Rate Average : 153.4 MB/sec Access Time : 11.6 ms Burst Rate : 94.1 MB/sec CPU Usage : -1.0% 64k Block Size --- Dual (RAID0) Samsung HDD's (with 128k Block Size) HD Tune: Intel Raid 0 Volume Benchmark Transfer Rate Minimum : 114.3 MB/sec Transfer Rate Maximum : 276.8 MB/sec Transfer Rate Average : 195.8 MB/sec Access Time : 11.8 ms Burst Rate : 100.1 MB/sec CPU Usage : -1.0% 128k Block size The last results (F3-128k Block Size) is how my current new F3's are setup. I unfortunately forgot to run the HDTune in 128 Block Size against the old Seagate HDD's. I also didn't get the chance to run the F3 as a single drive to perform a HDTune test on. I think you can get a rough estimate of the above 2 missing tests mind you (as a rough comparision) All-in-all I am happy with these new drives (until I want to switch to SSD - which I'm happy to wait another couple of years in the hope that both larger capacity HDD's appear, and the cost drops) Hope that helps :) Feel free to message me if you need anything further :) Happy New Year

    Running Arma2 from SSD

I'm getting 2 * 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3's on Thursday (setting them up in RAID0) - If I do happen to notice any difference to the drives I have then I'll post back here :)

    What do you guys do?..

For me, there's nothing like a Co-op mission with a 'group/clan' of the same play/game-style as I like to do (That's the game experience I thrive for) I would highly recommend visiting a few different 'group/clans' and getting to see if any of them fit your game/play-style. Happy gaming! :)
  19. If you are referring to me then FYI I'm also reporting an issue which I noticed another user here was experiencing (since updating to v1.05 (ARMA II) - STEAM User). I followed one of the steps that was offered as an option to resolve the issue, which didn't work. The other option was to edit my registry which I was reluctant to do (but eventually did) - I therefore thought it prudent to post an update on this (along with some additional notes for those whom it might be useful)
  20. I get the following error: Updater (v0.12.5) by Sickboy <sb_at_dev-heaven.net> Run with --help for help WARNING: Please make sure anything ArmA related has been closed / shutdown, incl explorer windows, etc No (known) ArmA 2 Distribution detected No valid installation folder found, please abort! No valid installation folder found, please abort! I'm also running the Steam version on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have upgraded to ARMA II 1.05 (all was working fine before I upgrade from ARMA II v1.04 to v.105 - The last ACE version I successfully d/l was v189. I attempted to follow your information adding the :app_path: <path to ARMA II directory> but the same error occurs. I've uninstalled the product and reinstalled (with the latest six-updater program) - I'd prefer not to manually edit my registry! Any pointers would be helpful :) ----- UPDATE: I took the plunge and configured the registry to make this work (using your description) - I do recommend that you provided a step-by-step 'type'-through of on to do this, as for many non-savycomputer users this is both something that could/would confuse users, and also risky (if something went wrong). FYI my registery within the 'HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\...' section (BIS related) are HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\BattlEye (This seems related to the new v1.05) HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA2 (Which I presume relates to <v1.04) I added a 'String' Value to 'HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA2' called 'MAIN' with the value of the Directory of 'my' installed ARMA II (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2) HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (for those who aren't sure when looking within the registry)
  21. I don't have a problem with ARMA II utilising Punkbuster - I've been use to it from other gaming titles I've used in the past. So a thumbs up from me. ---------- Post added at 09:32 ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 ---------- Even if BIS could/would make a better Anti-Cheat system than other Anti-Cheat systems they would have to devote man-power which they would either be taken from their current pool of developers or hire a new employee (or several). I'm personally not in favour of my 1st point (re-alocating developers as that's less people working 'directly' on the game-code), and for point 2, well it might be cheaper for them to utilise a 3rd party who have a product which is already used in the 'wild' which has a 'core' team of developers working on the product full-time.

    Comedian Robin Williams plays A1/A2???

All these kids voices sceaming down VOIP - I wonder if it's Robin Williams and his many dialects. I'll be asking each and every one of them 'Are you Robin Williams in disguise?' ;)
