  1. Great song.. so well expressive of us that were brought up on OFP1 and coming to realize 10 years later nothings changed but the frame rate (lower) and buglist. When you have modern Engines putting out much much better Graphics at 60+fps it's a testimony to why bolting onto a 10year old engine dosen't work. I would rather have the original graphics running smooth with the new game features then this. If anything Arma2 has got me so longing yet unfulfilled It has me playing OFP1 again! Now that's an accomplishment!!
  2. Don't count on a patch to magically gain FPS.. The problem is the Engine it's built on. In real sense, this is 10 year old engine that already is "patched" to death. I finally got a video card (260gtx) that will play crysis on higher settings at 50fps and this same rig gets 20-30 fps on graphics that are not even in the same league as something like the crysis engine even with no AI present. What you can do, is turn off shadows, set everything to lowest settings in advanced except texture (leave on high) and set the resolution to your monitor's native.. then get a playable frame rate and just forget about having nice looking graphics.. This will at least make the game playable in some areas (not all)..
  3. I am seriously doubting a Patch will make significant performance gains. You are dealing with a 10 year old engine that has been bolted onto. I was thinking it was the AI that was causing the low FPS tiring editor with no AI am still getting very low framerates. As far as the Fanboy argument, The bar of what is acceptable is Obviously set at completely different levels between the two groups. If 20 FPS with low settings on a high end PC is acceptable and only portions of the game work and you call that acceptable, more power to you. I mean heh, the Dukenukem forever fans had to take on some new project why not Arma2? ;) lol.. To be fair I would like to see what a or prospecting customer new to this franchise would say if you told them it has alot of small and some large game breaking bugs but other parts of the game works and you can get 20 fps on a high end machine at low graphics settings. Let that be the test of full disclosure. Ultimately no one can tell YOU what is acceptable and what isn't.. You may think my bar is too high expecting over 30FPS and non showstoping bugs but it's my bar. Iv purchased the game so am on for the ride.. Well at least till *cough* OFP2 comes out..
  4. Give me a break... you make my point for me. I was playing OFP1, ARMA1, from the start and sunk my 50$ on Arma2.. and have been viewing BI forums forever.. The Troll comment only makes you sound like the poster child fanboyism I am frustrated by and make my point for me (thank you):j:. I have nothing to gain from Dissing Arma2.. I am already out the 50$ and want(ed) very much for this to be a success and have right to comment. There are many bugs and performance issues not just a few. The performance issues of getting spots with 20FPS on a high end computer is what worries me. The low framerates at the graphic level presented is not acceptable IMO.. This is not exactly Crysis material here. But to be honest, the real problem looks like BI's own opening plug "Building on 10 years of constant engine development" Well that may be the problem right there. A game is IMO limited or exceeds by it's engine. A 10 year old engine that has been tweaked, bloated bolted upon (like hdr) illustrates the point. This is still a FPS game not a MoveBased game so when fanboys claim low 20's FPS, absurd control interface isn't a problem they are either completely ignorant, or lying to themselves and us. The way I see it.. But make no mistake.. call me a troll but thre IS a huge following of fanboys here that are misrepresenting facts. Anywhere outside this level of fanboyism a game wouldn't last two seconds.. I think it IS a credit to BI's ambitions and my hat is off and hope is with them..
  5. Biggest problem is the Fanboys... As I see it, Bohemia may have bit off more they can chew but it's the first word of mouth I made to purchase Arma2 and unfotruatnly the first wave of coments were Fanboys. Fanboys seems is always a problem with long awaited games but it's out of control in Arma2. Too many fanboys misrepresent, downplay or outright lie about Dealbreaker Bugs and performance issues in Arma2. Can I hear an Amen on that?? I want to scream everytime I see coments like,, "Well it runs great at 50fps but it still runs smooth even when it's at 20fps. " "Just wait till they get the patches to fix it and make it playable" "must be you I don't have any problems". My question is,, who are these people and where Can I get in touch to sell them some real estate? I wish I had customers like them!
