  1. Exactly the same here. [edit] Modifying the file as per above fixes the issue. For previous posters wanting to know how to do this: Install PBO Manager Find the file missions_e.pbo in the folder \arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\Addons, make a backup, as well as a copy to work with somewhere Extract the file using PBO Manager (right click, PBO manager has an explorer context-sensitive menu). You will now have a folder called missions_e, inside this, navigate to the folder \bootcamp\TE08_Armor.Takistan Using notepad, open the file mission_flow_1_gunner.sqf, about 80% of the way down find the line BIS_AdvHints_HideCond = "currentWeapon BIS_Armor == 'M240_veh'"; and change it to BIS_AdvHints_HideCond = "currentWeapon BIS_Armor == 'M240BC_veh'"; Save the file Using PBO manager, package the folder back into missions_e.pbo Copy the modded pbo into your Addons folder and enjoy.

Dogs of War: Where is Tuck?

    Care to share?
  3. Second. Thanks for the reminder. I feel like I've been visiting this forum all my life and had forgotten the reason why...
  4. If you get sick of your choppers crashing into each other just tell one of 'em to go elsewhere. You can bet your ass he'll oblige and crash into a tree instead.

Flying at Night !!! Can't see jack

Actually I've had this just riding in choppers at night. Sometimes the NVG's adjust the brightness all the way down, as if there's a bright light source where there isn't any. This mainly happens in the Blackhawk, I also occasionally get a permanent flash from one of the door guns, not even flashing, just a continuous flame. Sometimes I get both issues, which makes the NVG stuff almost make sense.

    Some genuine patch 1.03 information

I kinda have to agree the support is pretty limited. Sure, there have been patches, and I'm sure more are on the way but that certainly shouldn't be the scope of their support. I bought this game through steam, and after a few hours' SP campaign gameplay I was swearing pretty loudly at it. Off to the Arma 2 website then, check patch, yup, I have the latest version. Next in the "Support" list is "User Support". Now I'm told I have to click in the link for my publisher. Er, who? I, um, bought it on Steam? I tried the Arma Troubleshooting Wiki, but Arma 2 isn't even on there! At this stage I'm wondering if these clowns have just run off to the Bahamas with mine and everyone else's money! Ok, in any case the support page tells me to check the forums. Now here we go. It would appear there's a lot of people experiencing the same issues I am. Let's see what the developer has to say about it. Er... hello? There's a buglist, great, but it's user made, I still see almost no evidence of BIS saying "alright, sorry guys, yep we recognise issues x, y, and z and will work to fix them asap". People start threads like this one asking for some feedback or patch info and NON BIS moderators close them saying "it'll be done when it's done"! Out of frustration I filled in one of them "contact us" forms on the BIS website. After much writing I submitted it, and the page faulted. Nice one. So, in closing, I can't say I'm thrilled about the pretty sad state of the game as it stands at the moment. I recognise it is complex, and I don't doubt BIS are working the various issues. The thing is, however, that I base this belief entirely on faith and goodwill, seeing as we hear almost nothing from BIS.
  7. "view update news" from the steam game menu just gives me a list of steam client upgrades. Shouldn't it show the 1.02 patch info?

    Dogs of War bug

Heh. I just encountered the bug where the Hip helo comes and picks Razor team up from the Island, and then crushes everyone to death upon delivery to HQ. I'm pretty sure I know why, Lopotev is flying the damn thing!! Seeing as I have no memory of getting to the LZ (one second we're on our way to the LZ, next thing I wake up in the helo's jumpseat, with Lopotev in the skipper's seat!!!), I can only conclude that Lopotev hit me (and the rest of the team, I guess) over the back of the head with a rock whilst heading to the LZ, and then put us all on the chopper with the intention of crushing us to death in front of our superiors at HQ. What a bastard!! Now it seems the only way to get past this is to do the damned chopper ride over and over again (I can't save mid-ride, get "cannot commit"), and hope that one day my team is only badly maimed, not killed by the helo. Any other suggestions? At least I can rely on USMC pilots to keep things more straightforward on 75% of sorties. If, no wait, when they decide to go killin' people, they have the decency to fly into a tree and take themselves out as well.
  9. Ingrates! You should feel privileged that you are able to take place in this great sh@fting experiment, and at such a low price too!
  10. Same problem here. Running the steam release on Win7 build 7100. Once again not a peep out of BI...
  11. Awesome "support" BI. Having played around some more it seems it's not even possible to use the choppers do do anything useful for Razor team. If I board, then tell it to go somewhere it just overflies the place. If I make the waypoint an "Unload" waypoint nothing different happens. In fact the only way I can seem to make it land is to tell my squad to disembark. Then the pilot suddenly cottons onto the fact that disembarking troops really don't want to get out at 80 odd feet. I, myself, can't order the chopper to land though. Conversely, if I ask the chopper to fly to us it remains airbourne. The only way I can get it down is to ask my team to board it. Then I have to make sure I'm quick to get onboard because it lifts as soon as the Razor team members are onboard. I don't seem to count!! What gives?

    Elektrozavodsk till 5PM

Oh come on dude. If your brief is to get to E'Vodsk by 1700hrs you're not actually going to do that are you?! You're just asking to get shot by an annoying invisible super cheat army. This is, after, all a military simulator superarmies and all...
  13. I've seen this echoed in a few places around this forum, but I haven't found any kind of response yet. The High Command feature is only vaguely documented in the manual, and I'm left blundering my way through a campaign that is already fubared in the extreme. After having to use the endmission cheat in the completely broken Badlands mission, I'm now onto Dogs of War. I decided to get some USMC help by capturing Chernagorsk (using the original Razor team only). And now have the task of investigating Skalisty Island to the South East. Now the USMC have kindly provided me with 3 Blackhawks, a couple of squads of infantry, plus APC's and Tanks. I thought it'd be nice to hit the Island hard and fast with a helo insertion. The infantry are there, the Blackhawks are there, they're all under my command. You'd think I could make it happen right? (in my best Jeremy Clarkson voice) But you'd be wrong. There is no documented way of making a squad board a vehicle/aircraft. Having said that, however, the waypoint system seems to allow for a waypoint to be set up as a "get in" waypoint. But there is no way of selecting what to get into, and no way of setting a waypoint at the same place as the helo, since trying to do so only results in the helo becoming the selected unit. So come on guys, you seriously didn't think documentation was needed? I suppose bug testing was optional as well. For the record, I am mightly miffed by all this. BIS took my money for what currently is the most faulty ridden game I have ever played. On top of this support is almost non-existent (mainly consists of directions to these forums, which is not support at this stage, just more people complaining of the same). Don't get me wrong here, I love the idea of the game, and I hope it will shine in time. But selling it so people in it's current state is just an insult.
