Hey all, I am about to apply to some companies for 3d game animation and video graphic design. So unlike most companies that want a CV, in the 3D animation world, we need Demo reels. Here is mine, comments and opinions please

The all new: Ask a moderator about the forum & rules
Archamedes replied to Placebo's topic in OFFTOPIC
Just going to ask a question and i want to try and be careful how i ask it because i don't want to offend or upset any of the moderators here, but i just have some concerns that annoy me with the way some of you deal with posts on this forum.... 1. Everytime a member makes a thread, does it cost the site money? are you charged for them? reason i ask is the way some of the mods close topics seems like you are in competition for clsoing topics. it looks like there are more closed topics on this forum than open ones. 2. as a mod do you have the ability to merge, and move topics or is it just lock them? again reason i ask is some topics are locked simply because another thread already exists or someone posted something in the wrong place. so rather than moving or merging these said topics they just get locked, meaning you end up with a locked topic and a duplicate topic open up somewhere else, this just seems lazy to me, speaking for myself who moderates many other sites. 3. in the offtopic section it seems threads really do get closed for the most petty reasons and in some cases closed because a sole mod doesn't agree with the thread, and would have been left open if he hadn't closed it. i remember someone posting a question about why armoholic went down and a mod came on and quite rudely said "why is this our problem?" then locked it. The original poster never said it was bis's problem or anything like that, just asked in the offtopic section if anyone else knew something about a different site. Thats all i have to say i do hope i haven't opened a can of worms or upset any of you mods, but i am on a lot of forums and i just think sometimes it can be a bit overkill with the mod topic closures here. -
ACE 1.9 (Advanced Combat Enviroment) for OA/CO
Archamedes replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I have both arma 2 and OA. Do i need all the standard ace files AND the OA Ace files? Does it cause a conflict if you have both? -
Arma 2 Addon request thread
Archamedes replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I need an island mod. VERY simple all i need is a plain empty world, no grass, trees or details, just an open plain with a sky. Someone sent me one ages ago, but i had to reformat my pc and lost it, now the person in question is not answering my pms. If anyone has or could knock one up i would appreciate it. -
true but the military has a lot of support and able to send in more effective backup. being a bodyguard is a risky and dangerous job at the best of times, but being one in a country where everyone wants you dead and shoots on sight really makes it challenging
-
the pay is extremely high but so is the risk. A lot of ex military body guards and pmc members get targeted, killed, kidnapped and generally screwed up. You also don't have the support of the military behind you if you get into shit. Well not in the literal sense. Its all nice earning £7000 per week but when your earning £7000 a week while wearing an orange jumpsuit and looking down the shiny end of a machete and a dude wearing a ski mask pointing a camcorder at you, you sudeenly realise that shit just got real
-
unless you can have sex with it and have a microwaved meal afterwards then i'm not interested...... 'theres an app for that.'

ipad 2, are these guys chucking out the upgrades faster than they can produce them? the bloody ipad 1 was only released a little while ago. I'm looking forward to the icarpet, oooh and the ipad mini - Wait this is just an iphone with a new font and double the price

haven't seen it, like the look of the trailer and will definatly go to see it with an open mind and hope it is a good film. Thats all anyone can do. Slagging it off before seeing anything other than a trailer is wrong. that should be the end of the arguement
-
why does everyone seem to know everything about a film by a trailer? i mean anybody that thought they knew it all with "sweeny todd" then why do you think so many people where stunned at the musical fail it actually turned out to be. would anyone have gone to see it if they showed it for what it actually was? And for gods sake stop comparing it to other films that failed before you have even seen it. Yes Skyline was a disaster and this film really came out at a bad time due of that, because everyone has been left with a bad taste in their mouth and desert is not looking too good. Seriously, I have been on this forum for a while now and it seems a lot of people are never satisfied with anything, be it a game, film or tv show. Everyone seems to be a pre viewing critic and pages upon pages of flame wars start before anyone has seen shit. The film could be absolutly awesome, but there are people will go to see it or download it with the attitude that its going to be shit, try to hate it no matter what, then watch it over and over and over, then run to an internet forum and complain about it in every way possible.

some guy made a treehouse for his kid.... only it beats the crap out of any treehouse i have ever seen. its a home made nasa landing capsule complete with internal buttons, switches, working boosters and other awesome stuff that will make your kids go nuts for you to build one... well now you can, because not only do they show off this pretty nifty little thing with a video on the homepage, but also show you every step to take in order for you to make one of your own. all i can say is, step asside son, daddy is going to have fun first http://www.rocket.jonh.net/

you would all be surprised with what you can actually pick up if you have the money perhaps sir is interested in a decommisioned NUCLEAR missile silo with hundreds of miles of underground tunnels and a bomb proof bunker? perfect for the holiday retreat or a nice secure place to live if ever there were a zombie outbreak http://www.missilebases.com/properties http://www.missilebases.com/denver if you are having problems justifying why a missile silo isn't a suitable home below is a link explaining the uses for one, unfotunatly batcave isn't one of them http://www.silohome.com/id63.htm If you find that the missile silo is not enough to keep you satisfied, maybe you would be interested in buying an ex military aircraft carrier to take friends out on a fishing trip. http://www.ships-for-sale.com/aircraft_carrier.htm

you know they are asking for donations and handouts for the unrest in Egypt. I would help, however i feel its another pyramid scheme

just to put another finer point on the graphics junkies out there, some classic games never die. Duke nukem Rise of the triad Destruction Derby 1 Carmageddon doom 1 + 2 Frontier elite 2 Full throttle Armorgeddon And many more i cant be bothered to write, but all have a very big nostalga trip when playing them. You do say "damn these graphics are rubbish and i thought they were awesome." But the thing is, you will still kill hours playing them anyway
-
Lol i remember duke nukem, man that really is a game from the past, every one of my mates had it and i can always remember the very start of the game, on the roof of a building, jumping down to street level and mashing stuff up. Who cares if the graphics aren't top notch, it really doesn't matter, you can play solitaire for hours and still enjoy it.

I Call that the DRRRRRRRR! Gun, because when that bad boy unleashes the dakka its like a led firehose. Jesse Ventura would cream. On a side note my mate shelled out for the beta version 4 of this and said the graphics are seriously damaging to the CPU, after the 10 minute rampstart that is required with every mission taking off is like throwing a brick into the wind. Not only that don't expect to turn very fast, this thing is sluggishly slow on turns, its not meant for air to air combat. That asside the only way to describe it is riding down a gold plated mountain on the back of your unicorn while sipping from your challice filled with the laughter of children.
