I'm looking for Proponents and Opponents of the DAYZ mod.
Reverend Crast replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Well, this is not entirely true, the same sense of danger could be found on any old school MMO PvP servers (Asherons Call, DAoC, Ultima Online, and to certain extend vanilla WoW PvP servers from about 6 years ago) and EvE Online. DayZ is nothing else as (sorry for the opinion, it's more about developer not having resources than anything else) quite poor attempt at implementing hardcore PvP MMO with zombies. Unfortunately this kind of gaming has been decimated by publishers catering only for little kids and bored house wives. What DayZ proves is that there is quite big market for hardcore perma death, full loot PvP MMO experience. Anwyay: Pros: More money for BiS (I hope, I don't know how steam sales translate to real revenue for BiS), .proves that there is a market for hardcore PvP MMOs and dumbing down games isn't really the only way to do it Cons: I don't see many, it may dilute military simulation aspect of Arma -
It tracks head just fine, on TrackIR level, without wearing stupid hat. It all depends how software uses it. The problem is that we usually sit too close to the monitor (assuming kinect is mounted on top) for it to work properly. If anything, between the two, I'd say TrackIR was overpriced. (I worked and still work on 2 kinect based titles)

ARMA 2 (OA) : DLC discussion thread
Reverend Crast replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Well, whatever suits you best, but personally I find ACE completely redundant and adding nothing to game play, except a lot of unnecessary burden and annoyance, especially after release of OA. No one of my Steam friends list uses it since OA release. There are some great mods like Zeus and JTD, but even these are not really very popular outside of this forum. Other than that, I just really want to support BIS who is one of the few true PC developer left. Waiting for more DLC! -
Thank you very much - these are more Hollywood style, but I like them a lot!

Zeus AI Combat Skills

I am certain it was much more than 10 m.. I think it was about 100 meters - they were firing javelins if that matters. -

Seems to me that AI ignores hold fire command if I have zeus loaded? -

What's Project Reality? Nobody from my 30+ steam friend list who has/plays Arma 2 uses that. Breaking news: average player does not use any community mods. Also, while I really appreciate some efforts, average quality of these mods isn't that high. Also, British Troops DLC is now in top 10 sellers on Steam. Please bring more BIS. -

I screwed up my sleep pattern because of it. I went to sleep at 1am (normally it's around 11pm for me) because I was waiting for DLC to pop up, now I am up at 8am just to find out it's not there (I am usually up at 7am) I am going to sue Steam for mental damages caused by lack of sleep :D ps. Seriously, I hope it's up today. I've got day off and it's bank holiday weekend in Britain. -

Thank you very much Dwarden, I've got it all running, even with beta (which I use because it runs better than 1.52) -

controller of choice for flying aircraft?
Reverend Crast replied to byeohazard's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
That's what I do, despite having (and getting used to, lots of hours in various simulators) saitek x52. It feels like devs didn't have/didn't use a proper hotas when fine tuning the game, flying is much more responsive when I use mouse. -

Works fine here (STEAM, windows 7/64bit, no UAC), although my custom mods don't show in expansion window. ArmA 2 is green/shows up and all content works.
