just thought i might share this but I've been struggling to get Arma2 working on my new Work Station. but we finally got it working. when you run it it goes through the start up splash and the just crashes to the usual Microsoft error dialogue. it seems Arma2 doesn't like Dual CPU at least for my machine. dual quad Xeon :). X5550 2x 2.66Ghz Xeon 12gig ram and a Gainward 285 geforce CPU, intel s5520HC motherboard.
the work around is simple. you just need to cut your system down to one cpu. dual or quad core is fine. just need the one cpu.
my machine shows up as 16cores total this is the Hyper threading. so to get Arma2 running you need to modify your msconfig and change the CPUs under the Boot.ini CPUs under the advanced Tab. i changed mine from 16 down to 8 then just reboot. this sucks but at least it works and i can play the game. i cut it down to 1 cpu and it worked fine.
anyway hope i saved someone some time and hassles.
if there is any fixes for this so i can get all my CPUs back then that would be great
