    ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead announced

Bugger hey beaten to the punch!!! Cheers Gecko
  2. I just read this: "Bohemia Interactive have announced that the first standalone expansion pack for ArmA II, the creatively titled Arma II: Operation Arrowhead is currently in development, with the expansion set three years after the events of ArmA II. Set in Takistan, players will see coalition forces (led by the US Army) participate in an all new flashpoint threatening to claim civilian lives. The role of the player will be to restore peace and prevent more civilian casualties. The new expansion will be set in central Asia, and will allow players to take on the role of basic infantrymen, special operatives, and vehicle operators. The expansion pack is based on the same engine that powers ArmA II. While very few details about the expansion have been announced at this point, more details are expected to follow in the lead up to the game's release. Mark Spanel, CEO of Bohemia Interactive had the following to say about the announcement: Bohemia Interactive is fully committed to supporting the existing ARMA II user base whilst also working on the expansion pack, this will not only allow us to introduce a new and original theater of war to the simulation series, but also improve numerous areas of the core game, for both the original game and the expansion, where we can go even further with adding completely new features. No release date for Arma II: Operation Arrowhead has been announced at this stage." Such a low quality game

I can appreciate what alot of the people here are saying about how they go about enjoying the game. Fair enough, but you are purely condoning buggy beta issue games being released to the public under the guise of a game that has gone gold. I have enjoyed this game but when even after the release of the latest patch new bugs have been introduced (sound stuttering seems to be a very common one, I had no problems with sound before 1.03 and now I do). One quick trip across the forums can see that this is the case. Fair enough that people are happy to except the game in its current state but the FACTS are there before us. The game is bug ridden. Some how people equate issues that people are having as being "noobs" this just shows the attitude that is present here. I have been with the OFP series since its inception and have moments when I have just loved the game. But I just can't understand the narrow mindness of the people who come to the forums and just start calling people noobs when they have issues. Game play between COD, BF2 and ARMA cannot be compared however the development can, even when BF2 came out in its bug ridden state it was no way near as bad as ARMA2, I certainly didn't feel as if I had been ripped off (with BF2), steam users get done double because they have to download the entire game again just to patch it. So is that one an unfair moan as well? Both parties are right here, the game is good especially if you delve into the multi player mode and use the editor but the problem is that the bugs present in the game are stopping people from even using the game online (here we go its yr system, reinstall blah blah). I will give you die hard fans one thing you certainly stick up for something you like despite the obvious floors with it. We can expect BI to continue to keep doing this sort of thing as long as they have unwitting buyers buying unfinished products or buyers knowingly buying an unfinished product to keep the pay checks coming in so that they can do a quality releases for VBS 2 that contain no bugs because they have been found by their beta testers. Cheers Gecko Hunter.
  4. And who may I ask is trolling? I have been a faithful follower of the OFP/ARMA franchise since their conception. All I/we ask is for answers and assistance. I even gave praise for the product that I bought despite my obvious issues with your product AFTER my purchase. My comments were written as to speak my point of view without stooping to "abusing" BIS or any individual. I do not and will not lower myself to teenage like rants of abuse. I do believe what I have written is not constructive. Regards Gecko_Hunter
  5. BIS could have helped to avoid this situation massively. Obviously steam was given, or a file was made available to them that was a complete 1.03 build. Why where they not just sent the 138mb patch file? Sorry BIS you cannot just wash your hands and shift the blame to steam. What is sickening is that there is not one way to get a refund for the dodgy product that is being "peddled" here. I would like to see if the military version (VBS 2) is as bug riddled as the standard version. I have friends who cannot even play the game due to the crashes caused when they play. And the easy come back for everyone is they have a substandard rig blah blah, well they don't. The inconsistency with which this game plays across difference PC's just amazes me. I love playing the game and enjoy it immensely however for people to come back and say " mine works fine who cares" or "you should have bought it at the shop then" or "who cares if you have limited bandwidth" is showing a lack of respect and total understanding and just displays the total selfish nature of the individuals making these statements. Regardless of how much bandwidth someone has downloading over 4gig to patch a game when the actual patch is only 138mb is just ridiculous and there should be more than just a "message" sent to steam to sort the problem. BIS cannot go on relying on its faithful consumers forever, they will NOT continue to take substandard products because a developer feels they can release a broken product and rely on the internet to drag them out of the hole they created. I do understand that BIS is making an effort to try and sort its product out but the instability of this release (ARMA 2) just goes to shows how BIS is taking advantage of its community. I know that I will get flamed badly for my statements but I have no doubt that my thoughts reflect what a lot of people are thinking. I do understand the intricacies of game development and whilst not an expert I am qualified to some degree to understand who goes into making these sorts of games. I can only hope that those of you who read this try to understand the problems some people are facing and don't mistake this as a mindless rant. Cheers Gecko_Hunter
  6. Would one of the Devs please be able to confirm yes or no: Will there a 138mb patch available for download to steam users? If not does this mean the only alternative will be to download the entire game through steam everytime a patch has been released? Any feedback will be appreciated. Gecko_Hunter
