Hi there all. Sorry if it's a repost, I had a good rummage for something to do with this and I couldn't find anything. Myself and a friend want to play co-op together. However, I got to Multiplayer>New>CreateGame (on internet) and am now given the option to choose the mission. I click play on the mission I want, and Disable the AI (as I just want to play with my friend). However, my problem occurs when I try to find an IP to send to my friend so he can join my server. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm missing/doing wrong? I had a look in the Server Control bit, but that doesn't help :( I just presumed I be able to send an IP to my friend to join, and then jump into the mission. Thanks for your time, WimpoD

The Unsung MOD (Vietnam War) Arma 2 Release

Please help :( I'm a bit of a noob, and I was wondering if someone could help me as I'm desperate to play. Once I get my guys in the chopper, i go through the radio menu to the chopper (0-0-1) and the menu disappears. I reopen it to the same place and theres more options. I select one of the options in the submenu (not sure which, Fly to HOLD or Fly to LAND), and then they ask for coordinates. But I don't know what to do. I've tried opening my map and selecting something for it but it just doesn't budge. Pressing left click on the mouse creates a marker, and pressing space isn't helping. I say 'Move there' and nothing happens :S Just trying to get the chopper to fly to a location to land and fight the enemy :) Any ideas? Thanks for your time -
ACE 1.5 (Advanced Combat Environment) for OA/CO
WimpoD replied to xeno's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Oh man I want this mod so bad, but it's just too confusing to install. I really have tried. I think I just need someone to come over to my house and install it lol. It's a bit of a muddle. I could just do with the 'Install .pbo to Addons folder', but I believe I have to use this Six Updater thing to update it? Can I just install the following: @CBA @CBA_OA @ACE @ACEX @ACEX_RU @ACEX_USNavy @ACEX_SM from the website, and extract them in my Addons folder to get it to work? Could I then edit the shortcut to run it? Has anyone any advice? Thanks for reading. *EDIT* I have ArmA2 installed from the disc, and Operation Arrowhead on Steam. I don't think they're combined so do I have to install it twice in each folder? :S -
Hi Guys. I've read a few rules and wasn't sure where to post this, so if it's in the wrong section would a mod be kind enough to move/remove it? Anyway, onto the subject! My new PC comes TOMORROW. Great. But irrelevant to you guys. Basically, I really want to get downloading these custom missions that so many of you play, but there's so many to choose from, with so many different thread titles, and sections on armaholic, I don't know where to start and I'm just not sure how to seperate the best from the rest. I was wondering if any of you guys could suggest some top SP and MP scenarios, missions and mods that you would personally recommend? Thanks for your time people, these forums help make ArmA2 the most community friendly game ever. WimpoD

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
WimpoD replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Hello all! I've just ordered a brand new PC at a reasonable price, and I just wanted your guys opinions on how well you think it will run ArmA2 + OA. I LOVE the game, but my last PC just couldn't run it. Never mind the busy towns, it struggled to perform even when I was running through the desert! My new PC is an 'Intel i5 760' overclocked to 4.2Ghz. It has XMS3 4GB DDR3 (ram), and a Geforce GTX 470. I completely know that I won't be able to full-spec it, but will it play decent enough to really appreciate the graphics in this game? I'm dead excited, cannot wait to get more involved in ArmA2 and the only thing stopping me has been my PC. Have a nice day! -
Nice teaser Litos! Loved it.

I gotta say Richie, out of all your fantastic videos, for some reason this is my favourite. I watched it small screen, with very little sound as I'm in work, and my god it was like watching real footage. Very well made! Cannot wait to get my new rig so I can start doing this stuff, love machinima but haven't been able to anything in ArmA2 as my PC cries when I attempt to play it. Do you turn off HUD elements when making your video? The camera bobble is so realistic, so I presume you're just turning off the HUD then recording with some sort of external hardware?

How to increase the size of Windowed Mode, playing OA on Steam
WimpoD posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi all. Hope you're having a nice day! My question is simple, but I'm not sure if the solution will be (or if a solution even exists for that matter!) I am running ArmA2:OA in windowed mode during my lunchbreaks at work, using Steam to launch and play it. I was wondering if anyone knows how I would increase the size of the windowed mode ever so slightly? Or, is having ArmA2 in windowed mode just going to be one setting? More importantly, am I making any sense?! Thanks for your time. WimpoD -
ArmA2: Operation Arrowhead Impressions - ALL OA Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
WimpoD replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Here's my impression of ArmA2:OA: "Hi. I'm ArmA2:OA. Turns out, I'm the best game ever made." Thanks. Bye. -
Hah! If those 3 issues have upset you, god knows what you've got to look forward to. I must just be blind to ArmA 2's bugs now, such is my overwhelming love for it. Deal with the bugs, it's the most ambitious war game ever made.

Most exciting thread I've read in a while! Can't wait to get back and try this.

You know what I finally found a game which compelled me to get a new rig
WimpoD replied to Michael Withstand's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I concur! Since buying ArmA2, I've returned to my PC roots and am really enjoying my time gaming at the moment. I have set up a saving plan up until June 29th, where I plan on getting my new rig just before the release of Operation Arrowhead. This game is truly refreshing, and I know the hardcore fans are like "yeah, this is old school for us"; for me it's something new and something so radically different to every other title out there. The community's brilliant, the mod scene thriving, and the actual gameplay is gritty realism. Bravo BI! Bravo! -
**EDIT** Deleted pics, they were too big! **EDIT** Some awesome stories there, real fun read. ArmA2, suprisingly, is the first of the OPF/ArmA games I've ever got into (played OPF and loved it however, but never stayed with it). I'm a real sucker for realism, absolutely love it, so when I installed this and eventually found the right settings for my computer (low), I jumped into a multiplayer game. Once getting my head over the controls, I started the game. What happened next was a peachy introduction to ArmA2. I had (and regularly still have to this day) one of the best gaming experiences of my life. I shadowed some players on the server that seemed to know what they were doing. We boarded a chopper and set off to the objective. The chopper dropped us off just south of the target and we set off on foot towards it, at which point I branch off from the bigger group with 1 other player. We come to the top of a banking, covered by the treeline, that slopes into one of the villages. Myself and my comrade sprint down the banking, vault a fence, and head toward a farmhouse. On the other side I can hear the incessant rumble of a tank engine. After hugging the walls of the farmhouse all the way around, and peeking the corner slowly, we saw a tank and a few troops. Suddenly, as my comrade was looking around the side, he was shot...dead. That was that. I couldn't save him. So there I am, on my first online experience with ArmA2, stuck behind a farmhouse, poopin' my pants because there's a mother-trucking tank on the other side which I have no idea how to deal with. I do what any noob would do in this situation, I called in backup. I had no idea about laser designators and the sort, so I pull out my GPS and start giving co-ordinates out over team chat. I express my urgency, but nothing happens. About 3 or 4 minutes go by, and I'm wondering where the hell backup/airstrike is, so I go back into chat and type, "Please! Someone take out this tank....." Just as I press enter to send the message, a rocket screams past me and BOOM goes straight into the tank. The explosion was HUGE, killing the 3 or so enemies gathered round the tank. The next thing I hear is the distinctive A-10 engines flying over head, as I spot the plane up above gliding off to it's next objective. I wave quielty at my computer screen, as if to say 'thanks for the help', realising that this isn't like any other game, and that the pilot had literally set off from the airstrip after I'd called it in. I sit back thinking about the most intense 5 minutes in my videogame history. I am a complete gamer after getting ArmA2, and have solely been saving up to update my PC before the released of OA at the end of June. The 'battlefield moments' are unlike any other game, the way a battle unfolds is utterly fantastical. Thankyou Bohemia, and thankyou community members for making online such a pleasure to play.

Hi all! Most of the chatter in this thread terrifies me as I'm not too hot with my computer parts lingo, but I was wondering if one of you may be so kind enough as to check this spec out for me and tell me if I'm on the right tracks to getting a PC that can run this bad-boy at a decent speed. I currently own a 4-5 year old PC running an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+, with 2 GB of DDR ram and an ASUS A8N-E mainboard. I upgraded it about a year ago with a GeForce 8800 GT graphics card. I'm looking into the following spec, which I may buy online (UK) from MESH computers, I don't know if you brits think they're a reliable site I'm not sure. But I'm looking at this: # Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q8200 Quad Core Processor(2.33GHz,4MB Cache,1333MHz) # Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium with Service Pack 1, 64-bit - English # Midi-Tower ATX Chassis + 550W PSU + CardReader- Silver # ASUS P5QL Mainboard - Intel Core™ 2 Duo/ Quad/ Extreme - ATX # 4GB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM - (2x 2GB) # 1TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive with 32MB Buffer # Samsung 22x Dual Layer DVD Writer Super Format +R/-R/RW/RAM # 1GB ATi HD4850 Graphics accelerator - DVI, DirectX 10.1 PCI Express 2 It's a base unit that'll cost me around £499. I don't know if I'd be able to build my own PC, I mean, I do know a bit about computers and stuff but I don't know if I trust myself to buy the parts seperately and assemble it on my own. What do you guys think? Am I on the right lines? Any advice you might have for me when purchasing a new computer? Thanks for your time! Kind Regards, WimpoD *EDIT* I will also be using this computer for 3DS Max and several other animation packages for work. -
Hi all! New to the forums, I don't know if this is exactly the place to post this thread but I'll give it a try. I bought ArmA2 today after some truly exhilarating battles in the demo. Should be out enjoying the sunshine but I'm just too engaged in getting my game set-up etc. I've browsed the forums, but couldn't find an specific information on what I'm after and I'm hoping some of you community members could possibly help out? I like mods so I was wondering what you guys can recommend for me to install before I even get going. I have just installed the 1.02 patch that came out, so the mods would need to work with that version. Are there any mods I should just install straight away? I read something about the ACE2 mod for ArmA2, do I need that? Is it even out? There is such a comprehensive amount of mods for the game, and I don't know which ones i need (if any). Thanks for your time and for reading this, I hope I made some sort of sense. Ta ta! :)

Hi all! I'm new to the ArmA forums, and hadn't played Armed Assault before yesterday. I was a big fan of OpFlash 1, and have followed some of the progress of ArmA2 (played ArmA only briefly). I downloaded and installed the demo, and didn't really expect it to work on my PC (AMD 3500+, 2gb RAM, geforce 8800), but to my SUPRISE, it ran really quite well at 1280x1024. What followed was a session on the most entertaining and realistic shooter I have EVER played. The body movement is so realistic, the way the head bobs. Argh, I could sit here and talk about every single point that makes ArmA 2 such a complete military sim, but I'm not. I'm gonna go back and continue making that custom mission on Utes. The demo was a GREAT idea, the game works on my computer and I've already ordered it off Amazon. Can't wait to get into it. Just had to sign up to the forums and say that this game rocks. Simple as. Goodbye!
