    Blue Screen Issue

Ok, well, thanks to a number of member's contributions and efforts in trying to isolate and solve the problem, I bought a new PSU yesterday. I bought a 750W PSU for £44.99 and fitted it earlier today. It was a bit scary to be fair, didn't quite know what I was doing, but I just replaced all the wires I unplugged and everything seems to be working ok! :D Anyways, I've been playing ARMA 2, and I've had no BSODs so far! For me, buying a new, more powerful fixed the issue. Thanks ya'll - obviously some people still have issues unrelated to BSODs, so keep on using this topic if you like. I'll post what worked for me and any other solutions I find in the top post of this topic.
  2. Is there any script I can put in my helicopter's Init. box? At the moment, troops are being dropped (in the night) ~500 meters from an enemy-occupied village, and then another sniper is being dropped ~500 meters behind the village. My chopper is currently flying at 300 ft (for stealth reasons), but diverts course when it spots the enemies occupying the village below. So... yeh... any script that makes a particular unit/group ignore enemies? P.S. I've tried setting the helicopter to "Combat Mode: Never Fire", but it still diverts course and stuff! :S
  3. I thought, though, that the skill level would also effect his flying ability, and I wanted this to be top notch. What exactly is the bug? I've already done that - the chopper can't shoot anything, but still diverts course! ^_^ I'll try that right now, bump with the results and edit my first post with the solution! It sounds like the most likely candidate! Thanks for all the help everyone! You've got a good community going here! :)

    Speech

I second this. I have a flight ~1-2 minutes at the beginning of my mission, and mean to fill it with the pilot filling you in on the details of the mission. I also have absolutely no idea how to add speech into the game! :D
  5. I've tried setting the chopper to "Never Fire", but that just stops them from firing - they still divert course. Anyways, choppers can be stealthy.
  6. Heh - I tried that, but it just made it so the helicopter turned all of its lights on! :D Not quite what I had in mind for a stealth mission! ^_^ It's set to STEALTH at the moment. Any other ideas?

    Parachute Drop Issue

Ahh absolutely fantastic! That worked a treat! Thankyou very much! :)
  8. I've been working on a parachute drop on the island map. At the moment I have a sniper named "snippy" which is the player, and an M8-60S named "heli". The sniper named "snippy" has the following in his Initialization code: this moveincargo heli; group1 = group this The helicopter then has a way-point to the other side of the island (he starts at the bottom). Half way across his path (in the middle of the island) is a trigger. The trigger is set as "Activation: BLUFOR", and has the following in the "On Act." code: snippy action ["eject", heli]; group1 leavevehicle heli That all works fine. My sniper named snippy jumps out of the heli automatically and parachutes down. The issue, however, is that this trigger somehow also gives the order for all units in the helicopter (including pilots) to disembark at some weird location. It's always the same location, and the order is given as soon as I jump out. After the chopper lands, everyone gets out. About 20 seconds later the pilots and gunners get back in the chopper and continue on to the way-point. Now... what the hell? :D So can anyone help me out? I have no idea why the helicopter is being ordered to disembark! :S (By the way, the way-point for the helicopter is a simple "MOVE" way-point, and the helicopter continues on to it and stays there after all the disembarking malarky. Cheers, Jack.

    Parachute Drop Issue

Nice one! - fixed that. But now I still have one more problem! :D I also want a small recon team to jump out of the chopper at a seperate trigger previous to my (the player's) jump. For some really annoying reason, whenever the squad jumps out (I can make that work fine), as soon as they land they are given the order to mount the helicopter again! Ahhhh! :S I've checked and the helicopter isn't connected with the group at all. In the new trigger I have the code: recon1 action ["eject", heli]; recon2 action ["eject", heli]; recon3 action ["eject", heli]; recon4 action ["eject", heli]; recon5 action ["eject", heli]; recon6 action ["eject", heli]; Each member of the team is named "recon#". I tried putting "group2 = group this" in all of their Init boxes, but when I used: group2 action ["eject", heli] In the trigger nothing happened. Am I just managing to be stupid or using unnecessary code again? :S Cheers!

    Parachute Drop Issue

Thing is, I'm pretty sure it's not that. The helicopter isn't linked to any of my men, and it doesn't tell me to get back in or anything. It just randomly lands, everyone gets out... then back in and flies off again.

SLI aaah its doin ma nut in

If by "crashes" you mean "blue screen", this might be your issue. I made a thread about this issue earlier today, and it looks like I've found the solution. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=77544

    Blue Screen Issue

Looking at the calculator it looks like I need ~500W! Are PSUs expensive or difficult to replace?

    Blue Screen Issue

Not at all! It's good to find someone with the same issue! I too only have issues on these two games, and can even play Empire: Total War (an extremely resource-heavy game) on high settings with no such issue. For those that were asking about my video card is an "ATI Radeon HD 4800 series". I'll just check my PSU now - I'll bump the topic with it. ---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:32 PM ---------- After a lot of messing around, I've discovered that my PSU wattage is 300W. The damned thing was written in small print on the underside of the PSU! I had to get a hand-held mirror to read it! :D

Dodgey topic! ;) Which company did you purchase the CD Key from?

    Blue Screen Issue

Sounds like a likely diagnosis - as I said, I'll give specific hardware details when I get home this afternoon. Thanks for all the hard work so far guys! :)

    Blue Screen Issue

I can't give you any specific hardware information right now, as I'm typing this on my work computer. Later on today when I get home I'll bump this topic with my PSU, its wattage rating and my video card. Thanks for the help so far!

Sorry, I'm not in with the techno lingo! :D What's a PSU?

    Blue Screen Issue

Would adding a fan or something suffice? If temperature is the issue, maybe I could simply add another fan? Also, would such things as overheating appear in the Event Log? I'd rather not fork out a whole lotta money for a new graphics card if it's unnecessary is all. :)

    Patch 1.2 Uninstall ?

Unfortunately, as far as I know, to remove the patch you have to reinstall the whole game. My reason for this thinking is that I installed 1.02 last night and it said "There will be no way to remove this patch apart from reinstalling the game!" :p
