Stakeslim, it is NOT a directX problem, i have tryed the ones off the CD, and off steam, manual updater etc etc... The problem has been solved actually more than amonth ago yet it wasnt being updated in the Tech Support. To anyone useing Matrox Tripple Heads, you need to start the game in two monitors, copy the config, and every time you want to start the game in three monitor desktop edit the config for the same resolution and htz of the as if it was two monitors. Then in game change it back to three everytime. A much simpler work around, but still a work around.
-
WHY CANT THIS BE IN THE TEC SECTION.... THE DIRECTX 9 ENGINE ERROR has been plaugeing me since buying the game.
-
OK Back the question about does this patch help or not. And how did it work for you. With the stand alone DVD install.. I could not get into game unless i did alot of working around. And now with the patch, no matter what i do i cannot get the game to work. The error i get is still DirectX 9 engine error... The work around i was doing before was the following Reboot - Into Safe Mode - Ininstall Nvidia drivers Reboot - Into Safe Mode - Clean up any left over drivers with Driver Sweeper Reboot - Install either 186.18 or the new 190 beta drivers. Reboot - Start Game of Dual Monitor settings with Tripplehead2go Reboot - Set up full TrippleHead2Go to run at my standard 5040 by 1050 resolution Start Game in dual 1680 by 1050, and edit video settings to utialise the theird monitor.

Tin Cup, your missing the worst issue i have come across Failed to start DriectX 9 Engine Error Atleast you can get into the game. I have to spend close to 45 mins of work arounds to get a game. And if i install the patch i cannot play AT ALL. And i have not been able to find a single working reply from any of the Mod's here, or anyone that seems to know what they are doing... Its NOT a directX problem no matter how many times you are told to just run the ones off the game CD.

Nvidia 190.38 Beta Drivers?
y2khippy replied to Jonney Napalm's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Anything has to be better than the issues i have been getting. -
Hay Sabre Sorry I couldnt help, I just went through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling all of the Nvidia drivers. After about 10 reboots to finnish the process mines up and working again. I hope when there is finally a solid solution for this problem they will Sticky it up for everyone as it seems to be fairly common.

fein memory its not a SLI card... Some of the cards comming out are SLI already on the card itself so two of them is really 4.. I'd try the SLI option second, try the drivers re-install and see if that helps first. Also read the Release hightlights first line from that SLI Bata Patch "This version of the NVIDIA SLI profile patch should be used with v186.18 display driver. It adds support for the following PC games:" ---------- Post added at 06:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ---------- I just tryed installed the SLI driver.. It doesnt do a thing for the Directx 9 Engine Error. Though if i can get my game running it may have it run better...

Which card are you actually useing?
-
its helped me with the demo, the reinstalling of drivers and the its what i will be doing soon to hopfully have it running with the patch. I have other problems though as i use a tripplehead2go set up and it takes several more steps in the process. Good luck

When the patch is installed i am back to the DirectX 9 Engine error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked to see the game runs, then in stalled the patch and the game didnt.
-
I run a high end car myself, and was able to get a 1000 FPS in Cod4 before i installed my tripple head setup. But I am very curious about how my resolution of 5040 by 1050 is going to be handled.

The Important part is to Boot up in safe mode, Uninstall all Nvidia Drivers... Use somthing like Driver Cleaner Pro to make sure those drivers are fully gone after a reboot back into safe mode. Then reboot again into Normal mode and install your Nvidia drivers, reboot, DirectX from the DVD or Game directory if its a steam version, reboot and then it should work. But in some ways its just like comunisem, it doesnt always work in practice. Which Card are you useing, and which of the 182 drivers? there is apparently two at the moment. The link BarBarosso is not going to help you as you have the latest version of DirectX on the CD. And that it seems to be a junk programe.

I found this else were, but i went through it ALOT with the Demo and it didnt help for long. I was able to play the full game though as soon as i installed the new patch i get it again. I thought the patch was supposed to fix problems. Im unistalling and re-installing.. damn this is a long install. from http://forums.bistudio.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1355566 Or from here http://forums.bistudio.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1303924

:smiley-grimmace:Well Im Back and getting VERY ****** OFF I backed up my copy of ArmA 2, I uninstalled steam and bought a new hard drive as the old one is now corrupted... I Reinstall steam, and have to painstakingly update it with 5k download, i then reinstall the ArmA 2 from my back up. This said it would take 10 mins initially, and then it paused, and then a again and again, the restoration of the back up took 2 hours and 48 mins... And i try and start the game and i wants to now download the game again. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS? I HAVE ALREADY SPENT 16 or so GIG downloading a game i paid for. I HAVE NO DOWNLOAD CAPABILITYS ANYMORE AND I AM OUT MONEY WITH NOTHING BUT 30 mins GAME PLAY TO SHOW FOR IT! I know Dwarden you are hear to help, but this is getting seriously frustrating, and im at the point of requesting my money back for this game, and purchaceing off your companys competitors. I dont mean buying in a store, i mean buying Operation Flash Point instead.
-
Hay Dwarden Thank you so much for your patience and assistancee.. No seriously. I have located the files elsewhere, and had to replace 20 meg worth of data to get the game running. I dont know if i am out of danger though, as it seems my hard drive has been ripped to shreads by steam and i am currently working on moving all the data else where and all my steam games also. So if i uninstall and re-install steam to another hard drive, all i have to do is unpack the Backup's of my games and i should be happy again.. well thats the plan.. but its a slow process movine over 800 gig of data, especially when some of it is corrupted. MASSIVE GROUP HUGS GO OUT FOR DWARDEN for taking care of us in our time of need and frustration.
