ARMA 2 - Seriously bad graphics for a 2009 game
wooly-back-jack replied to chaos1986's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
just incase he didn't get round to the fix (I reistalled GRAW2 other night when the CTD's were peeing me off lol) tell him to disable physx and on the ingame physx setting set it to 'normal' :) -
A warning about ArmA2 and video card temps at menu screens
wooly-back-jack replied to datter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
scarey stuff, thanks for the info.. I think highest my 8800GT has got is 60, and that was overlocked. I don't use rivatuner, I just use the nvidia system tools + speedfan -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
wooly-back-jack replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
not sure which lappy cards are supported but Try different drivers, and add -cpuCount=2 -maxmem=2047 to your arma.exe shortcut -
how stupid is that, just looking at the back of my box and you are right, but the bare minimum for AMD is a 3200+ (single core) optimal intel = quad core or fast 2.8ghz dual core optimal AMD = athlon 64 x2 4400+ lol

so basicly you want a workaround to servers that force first person view to gain an advantage? :p I like 3rd person view in ground vehicles myself, driving tanks in 1st person is like being a postbox on rollerskates! I think the views need to be improved drasticly, I like my 3rd person view but if it's a server forcing 1st person it should be adhered to

at 1280x1024 with a fillrate of 150% and everything on normal with low AA and AF, what kind of settings are they for those cards? lol Needs moar benchmark. (Don't get me wrong, my next card is going to be Ati, they seem to last longer than Nvidia in minimum and recommended specs on games) -

oh that must mean we are all either lying or hardcore hardware noobs then eth, that's basicly what we are being told when we are posting in these threads. Tbh people who have the game running fine and don't believe there is anything wrong with the game itself should stay out. Unless they can help (which you have on the most part admittedly) By posting problems other people are reading about other people having the same problems as they are getting, some have some hardware similarities, some dont. Some recommend drivers that help, settings that help, some say its best to stop messing with your system until the game is performance patched. Thats troubleshooting Coming in and saying "theres nothing wrong with the game it works fine for me" isn't of any help at all. All it does is piss off the people with genuine problems. -
Considering buying it now --- what's its status?

ArmA II more popular that COD
wooly-back-jack replied to walker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
what is fairer a result taken from actual players playing games (ok all Arma2 players dont use xfire, all CoD players dont use xfire either) or result on gamespot after a gleaming review? A big + (gamespots ranking only goes off games released in last year and games not released yet lol, so it only includes the dire CoD:WaW) an even bigger + http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2236.html http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2231.html http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/01/latest-developments-in-gerstmann-gate/ <---not remember this? -

I would have linked steam, where Arma 2 is 18th I think but steam is limited to certain games so it's 18th out of a smaller proportion of games. If you look at how many people actually use xfire you can see a close to fair result ( well it depends how you look at it, obviously there is going to be more hours with more players apart from WoW where an individual LIVES at the PC lol look at the top games and how many players are playing that game with xfire switched on) -
Game crashing in Campaign (Video Memory problem)
wooly-back-jack replied to Yapab's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
he has a right to feel pissed off, look at his rig. he isn't telling any lies, he is telling it as it is and the way it comes across to people having problems, not just from BI..but from people like you. Changing his text in a quote to make him look like a crybaby is a personal attack imo. -
to close the CTD box rather than restart your PC just alt-tab. you will see 2 armaII options, one is the error reporting, one is the game. Highlight the 1st one, error reporting and then just press enter. or if you want to send the error report do the same but then press tab, then enter. Do not move your mouse or press any buttons when doing this. Game will just close then and saves you having to reboot :) (can't you just tell I'm a CTD vet :( )

still buggy and annoying yet, wait for stability before buying, don't think you can run this game well just because you can run the demo well either. I used to play PR myself and Arma2 has massive potential, I can't wait for bugs and crashes to be ironed out as I know it's going to be my main game for years to come. However, for many of us it's just not ready yet. mY8IAcaEmXo Project Reality used to have that problem too :p -
try unbinding left/right turn and just have rudder/pedal
-
hold shift or double tap shift to toggle (you really should read the manual)
-
I've had that pop up last couple of times I have played, once for sunglasses and twice for smokegren I think? does the game delete a part of itself everytime you CTD or something? lol

yes, setting to default does help some. (why is that normal setting even there? and why does it default to it?) oh and Fitzee, try multiplayer..that's the place where funny things happen :) -
before anyone suggests it, no 'community votes' ... let officials decide imo
