download Nvidia system tools and do it simply and safely, it integrates with Nvidia control panel and you can tell it to find stable o/c for GFX or enter your own o/c and test if its stable. More importantly you can turn the fan up :p http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.05.html (Although I don't know why you would want to overclock a 260) -

Rhammstein is probably right, the fact you play in low native res does help you a bit but you are looking at low on most things, maybe medium on a couple and AA off. look at my specs in sig and Im on all low, very low and off and my native res is 1280x1024 -

I have an ageing PC and I have gone from win xp pro 32 bit to windows 7 64bit and it is much better. Obviosly Arma 2 will run poo if you have all the win 7 features on.. I switch to classic view windows and turn off resource hogging aero and such. (win 7 actually tells you that it is hogging gfx resources when you select to run in performance mode) I only turn all the features on if im just browsing web/using music programs and not planning on gaming that day. (actually an app to configure and save 2 windows 7 profiles would be nice so switching between the 2 would be easier, I believe AMD have one but it's for newer hardware than mine :( ) -

you miss my point. The 8500 was competitor to geforce 3, yet a geforce 4 ti couldn't play BF2 and the 8500 could :) -
the weather is upsetting my fishing too! spawning times for different species are all over the place, lakes not warming as they should be. Not just weather effect but commercial sea fishing has caused cormerants to come inland and devistate fish stocks. now for the important thing to ponder... why is there like loads of windfarms but electricity bills are still too high? :D

have you never noticed on games in general, AMD and ATi usually outlasts Intel/Nvidia? It's usually the latter that needs to upgrade first to play the next new game. BF2 fx5700 or Radion 8500 CoD4 pentium4 2.4ghz or AMD 2800+ " " Nvidia 6600 or Radion 9800 Arma II DUAL CORE pentium 4 3.0ghz or SINGLE CORE AMD 3200+ Arma2 optimal - Quad core or fast dual core Intel 2.8ghz or AMD x2 4400+ bit of a nothing really but there you go. Never owned an ATi card myself but its certainly going to be my next one as Nvidia always seem to get caught out by some new shader where you need to upgrade. (or something similarly stupid) I'll probably stick with AMD for my processor too (I'm still on socket 939 now and getting away with it!) When the Intels first came out with their new shiney processors I thought that would be the way to go for me, but looking at websites at parts I think I'd rather stick with AMD. yeah you can get decent Intels for cheap but if you want the top notch gaming Xtreme Quad xxx99.9 you find yourself paying stupid money, tbh they are aimed at a stupid market. hell I may even stay on socket 939 and just get an FX60 and a decent amount of ram :D -

8800GT is serving me well in everything else, just not so well in Arma2.. (don't forget I am on a 19" non widescreen DVI TFT so the max I play at is 1280x1024 anyway) my dual core is 2.0ghz but are we talking actual 2.0ghz or my x2 3600+ bit (as we know the minimum and recommended specs are higher for Intel than AMD cpu's) Ram yep I can agree, I'd love to have more but even if I did have more, Arma2 wouldn't be using it anyway would it lol. That windows 7 system rater thing gives me 4.9 for CPU and Ram and 5.9 for everything else, I know that's not much to go off but Win 7 runs great on my machine, not just games but the whole OS just seems to run better. -

I only have 2gb ram and a dual core 2.0ghz amd and I am on win 7 64bit wizbomb, not sure if you would classify my 8800gt as a kicken graphics card though :p -

I made the switch and am happy, seems a bit jerky tho as I copied my config/profile over from xp, not sure that was a good choice. It is stable, no crashes. I just need to work out what is causing my black screen when the game is about to load up and what is causing the strange stuttery lag.
