I have no probs with 107 in 062 but you are standing in that vid not prone???
-
not sure about scale it has been discussed elswhere as to size of human models.
I do know that you can press the spacebar and it will give you the distance to whatever you are pointing at... like a laser range finder.
-
no. the sound card will only cause issues with sound.A soundcard that conflicts with system allocated memory space or other system drivers can indeed cause your pc to act very poorly.
It used to be a regular issue back in the days of W95/W98 not so common these days but still possible.
Best way to check is to remove or disable the soundcard and test.
-
[062] I seem to have finally got the dreaded sound bug where when turning, explosions etc follow the direction I am looking and not their point of origin.
I have skipped quite a few betas so dont know when it came into being. =0(

yeah I did not think of the fact that the missions will be played by those that would complain they cant find the crate coz it is "hidden"...
I guess you are correct, when I get time I will have to learn to make my own.
IT would be good if we could drag them in the same way we drag a wounded team mate...
-
Firstly let me say thanks to all mission builders... so far I dont have the time or smarts to build one.
BUT... I have played a few of the missions posted here and I would like to know why ppl go to all the trouble of making a good mission ...building solid defences/structures etc and most of the time ammo crates are dropped out in the open.
Is this because you cant place them inside defensive structures?
Because of course IRL you would place them in the safest and most secure place available.
cheers

I'm automatically mirroring betas to http://mirror.quex.org/arma/beta/You're welcome to download from there if you find it faster. BIS' server seems to have returned to its usual speed for me though, almost 200 KB/sec. But you never know when they'll get hammered again, I suppose. It polls the beta patch page every 15 minutes so should be reasonably up to date.
thanks
your mirror is much faster for me... getting dialup speed from BIS
-
@ Lord you say you have mirrored drives... if you mean actual mirrored as in raid then I would think your images being updated is causing slow downs.
If they are not real mirrored drives that update the images then I think there is some other background task like scanning or updating/internet access or indexing at work.
Turn off all indexing and auto swap file management, try setting min and max swap file to the same OS recommended max.
I have not used 7 but Vista disk management and indexing is a joke.

hi every time i trie to use a beta patch,i get the: error compiling pixelshader PSSSSMSpecularAlpha:1, crash

I have a quad core with all the bells and whistles .... will someone please tell me how to get my game running smoothly?Post count of 1 and a question that has been asked a thousand times... without supplying any detail will most likely get you no sympathy or help...
do a search.... use your issue or your system spec... there is an answer to every symptom somewhere on this forum already.

To fix error you need to have your shortcut set to
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\beta\arma2.exe" -mod=beta
plus all other switches for maxmem cpu etc
and Start in set to
"C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2"
-
yeah well thats no good change it to 4 also you may want to read this thread
-
I think you would only need to restart game to refresh all settings.
you may also need these in your startup parameters as you have W7 and an I7
-winxp
-cpuCount=4
also some with your cpu had to turn off Hyperthreading in bios.
This is a link to BI info on startup cmd line
http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters
also check your profile in \ArmA 2 Other Profiles\"yourname"
see what this texture mem is set to...heres mine for default texture setting:
"yourname".Arma2Profile
TexMemory=4
-
I assume you have maxmem=2047 and mod=beta set in startup parameters and you have installed the latest DirectX update:
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\beta\arma2.exe" -maxmem=2047 -nosplash -world=empty -mod=beta
Start in should be set to "C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2"
check post by Sloop he had exact same prob pm him see if he sorted it...

check your nonLocalvram is set to something more than 512 megs
below is my config for a 1g 9800gt set yours similar and see what happens.

edit... mistake in previous post should have been: check that you have single display performance mode enabled in Nvidia cp
-
as you cant set it to default edit your config file to something equal to or less than 1792MB then change its properties to read only to testeg 1024 x 1024 x 1792 = 1879048192
my 1g card runs very smooth and stable at 1010MB which is less than 1gig but what A2 allocates when I use default setting
already tried that... seems he has another worse issue I would uninstall game then reinstall
edit: check that you have single display performance mode enabled in Nvidia cp or try less than 1 gig
-
yep have seen guys reporting as low as 6megs...lol

you dont say what os what cpu etc etc there are specific things you need to do when using certain cpus vga os and 8 gigs ram
if you search you will find all the info you need.
also use at least beta v 803

Hubert I cant argue with your gpu load tests, but If I had 99% load vsync off and 40% on, I would turn it on reduce the load due to high fps and turn up all the other resolution/image related settings.
This would give me a much better image and still acceptable frame rates with the gpu load working for quality and not unused high frame rate.
-
Hubert you are missing the point I agreed with you...??? note I said "you may be right"...???
of course it take more horspower to run at higher fps with same screen...
But I think some ppl get the low gpu load and fps confused
High fps in this game is not always the answer and not the only thing that leads to increased gpu load.
But then I have the game running well with high gpu load and vsync forced on...so I guess I dont need to worry about tearing and such with a high fps and no vsync
edit on my rig it looks shite with no vsync ... lots of tearing
-
ArmAIIMark.Chernarus.zip is the file you are looking for unzip the .pbo to your missions folder and it will show in the list in game as a selectable mission.
I find that the score does not indicate a good smooth game as lower numbers can be much smoother than high ones.
-
I have triple buffering on and Vsync forced on, Pre render 3 in Nvidia CP I dont run Post Proc
There does seem to be quite a difference in the way Nvidia and ATI work with this game... some on here say you must not run any AA with ATI.
I have never run fraps as I am only looking for smooth play as this is not a twitch type shooter.
803 actually shows quite a drop in Arma2mark but is way smoother than ever before
@ Hubert... you may be right but I am not convinced that is the issue, I would guess he has not gone enough tweaking, it took me a lot of testing to find the settings that work on my setup.
-
Remove your vga drivers.... that wont stop you rebooting for a clean install of new ones...
and you should be able to just roll back to old ones in device manager??
you can also dload Driver Cleaner/Sweeper etc to clean out old drivers after removal.
-
@McArcher
Testing while online is not good logic you need to test SP then go online
what memory use does GPU-Z show it is not on your SS
It should be using nearly all of the cards mem as per your config file
also something is not right with your cpu usage
My setup uses all of my cards mem and the card gets very hot with fan at 100% speed
all four of my cpu cores run at around 80% with page file usage at close to 2Gig
game runs butter smooth on my setup with 803
Cant change "next target"
in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Posted · Edited by dogz
correction
as per above link:
I have no problems changing next target to any key I want...
But I had trouble before I realised that there there is a double listing for "next target"...
you must clear both then you will be able to set one to whatever you want.
in "All controlls" you will need to scroll almost to the bottom of the list to find the second "next target"
