Hey Jelliz, I'm trying to play lost battalion but i'm being abit stupid, how do you assemble the GPMG? Once the backpacks are dropped there is no option to assemble. Sorry if this is obvious, i've never done it before. Thanks

Secondary Ops Manager Module Discussion
Urbanski replied to trini scourge's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yeah, I'd like to know about changing the support vehicles spawned by SOM also. I'm using the BAF content and it feels odd to be resupplied with a HMMMV and US ammo. Also having British ground troops being picked up by a USMC Huey doesn't feel right either. Is there any way to change the vehicles the SOM spawns to include BAF vehicles and ammo? I haven't used the side missions for SOM but again it would be wierd to have Russians in woodland camo running around in the Takistani desert fighting the Brits......breaks the realism abit. Anyone know the answer? -
Hi Bergil, I know this may be abit long winded but I had some similar problems to you. If you check this thread http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=105541 you might find part of this answers your question. I ended up doing a full install of both games following Wolle's instructions and I also deleted all of the addons and missions I have downloaded over the past year so I had a clean install. I will reinstall the addons in time. Hope this helps. Cheers

Wolle, Genius - it worked. Both games installed properly with no error messages at install or patching. It took all night to do it so I only got a few minutes of play but so far no errors and no CTD. Many thanks but I have to say although logical I would never have stumbled across that solution on my own especially starting the game after every patch update. Nice one :)

Wolle and Dwarden, Thanks for the replies. Wolle I was never given the option during install to combine OA and ARMA 2 or run it as a stand alone. I did have ARMA 2 installed and never had a problem on install. I will reinstall it tonight. Is it worth patching it or do I just use the 1.00 box version to test run it? I will follow your instructions after that, hopefully this will work. On a side issue I noticed during Install that the 1.06 patch that comes with OA didn't patch properly, there was an error message at the end saying one of the files was corrupted and I should download it again. This is also true of the 1.05 patch - same error message. Thanks

OK it's not the firmware - I have the latest version already. I updated nvidia drivers to 257.21 which made no difference - couldn't find 258.69 on the nvidia site?? I did a complete reinstall of both ARMA 2 and OA and I'm still getting the same error messages. I'm stumped, I'm not sure what to try now. I have spent £25 on a product that is broken right out of the box. At least with ARMA 2 I could play the game even if the campaign was broken. BIS, a response of some description would be nice - these are your forums after all.

Hi Liquid, Thanks for the reply. Not sure about video driver version - i'm at work right now so i'll check later. Having tried a few different scenarios now the number of missing textures and objects is into double figures. Everytime I try to start a mission or load a map in the editor I get 2-3 or 4 error messages saying that xyz object or texture is missing. I have a feeling that my trouble is in the installing of the game. It's as if it's skipping or excluding random files at install. There should be no reason for this as it is a shop bought product and patched to the latest version. Someone suggested updating firmware drivers for the DVD Rom which apparently is known to cause problems - that's a new one on me but worth a try. Here we go on the BIS trial and error marathon.

Hi all, I'm a long time player of this series (starting with the original OFP, ARMA, ARMAII and now OA) and I'm having huge problems with OA. I get a CTD whenever I try to play the campaign or any of the scenarios. The editor seems fine but i've had a limited play on it. The CTDs are random, sometimes after 2 seconds, sometimes after 5 mins. On loading the game I get 2 error messages as below. "bin\config.bin/cfgvehicles/V3S_Base.scope" "bin\config.bin/cfgfontfamilies.zeppelin32mono" On loading the laser show senario i get this error message "bin\config.bin/cfgvehicles/V3S_TK_EP1.vehicleclass" I get another error message on another scenario about a missing texture /concreteblock/concrete_missing_white_paint...... or something similar Basically I can't play the game. I have ARMA2 installed. I tried uninstalling both games but if anything after the reinstall and 1.07 patch it's worse. ARMA 2 and OA are shop bought including (from GAME in the UK) I've had problems with every single BIS game i've bought but i've managed to work out solutions thanks to the community. Can anyone help?? system: Dell XPS720 Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 at 2.40ghz GeForce 8800 GTX 768mb 3Gig RAM 500 Gig HD Windows Vista 32bit home premium edition P.S. BIS - Is there any chance that you might consider selling me a game that actually works out of the box like most other software houses or do I have to go through hours and hours of trial and error with every single one of your products and expansions before it works as intended?

Really basic scripting questions
Urbanski replied to Urbanski's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yeah vista does allow you to uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" It's just I missed it and vista doesn't make it easy for the user. Now I know I won't make that mistake again. Win 7 might be worth a look but I'm getting microsoft fatigue...if you know what I mean. Release broken OS, spend the next 3 years fixing it....get it working and then release the next broken OS.......rinse and repeat until you are rich beyond imagination. I prefer the gnome method - 1.steal underpants 2. ? 3. Profit -

ProfTournesol you are absolutely spot on, I just worked it out, came on here to post and your comment is exactly the error I found. It was still a text file so on using "camera.sqs.txt" it worked. I now save my notepad text files as "all" file type and its saves them as an .sqs file properly now instead of a .sqs.txt I knew it was something stupid I was doing. I have to say i've never liked vista, it's far too overbearing in how it tries to protect the user, I much prefered XP and i'm going to look at Windows 7 as an alternative. Thanks all for your help - I'm now experimenting with the camera which will make my missions that much more immersive. :) Cheers -

nettrucker - thx for the link. I have an earlier version of this editing guide by Mr.Murray but i've downloaded this one anyway. I was using this excellent guide yesterday and looked through the part on cam scripting and on setting up the mission folders......unfortunately it hasn't helped me so far. I'll keep trying but it's very frustrating when you want to learn but can't even get past step 1..... feeling very stupid here :( Thank you for offering me help with editing questions, its much appreciated and i'm sure I will be asking for your help in the future. I'm determined to crack this problem.....onwards and upwards!!! -
Really basic scripting questions
Urbanski replied to Urbanski's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Thx for the reply Galzohar. The script is in the right folder....i'm really puzzled and frustrated. No doubt i'm doing something wrong. The camera script is a .sqs notepad file......is that ok?....is .sqs the right file extension for a camera script? I want to learn scripting (again) but if I can't even get a basic tutorial script to work i think I might be in trouble. -
Really basic scripting questions

Hi, I used to make missions for the original OFP a long time ago. There used to be a camera tool in the editor which BIS took out for ARMA and ARMAII (no idea why they did that, it was great for simple cutscenes). I'm following a camera script tutorial (snypir) I found at OFPEC however it's designed for use in OFP. With Vista and ARMAII the way you set up folders for the game has changed. I'm trying to get a camera script to work on a mission intro. I've found the path C://users/me/documents/arma2/missions/missionname - and i've put my camera.sqs file in the folder for the mission with [] exec "camera.sqs" in the init field of the player but it is saying "camera.sqs" not found. Where do i need to put the script to get it working?? Also I know the scripting language is basically the same since OFP but are there any tutorials or aids for camera scripting in ARMAII as there are bound to be some differences. Embarrasing I know but we all have to start somewhere :o I just realised this is in the wrong forum d'oh - can it be moved by a admin please? -
