  1. Just FYI, the optional number in said() function is the expected confidence level. 1 to 3 - partial phrase, where 1 is the fastest but least accurate and 3 is most accurate. For example said("attack that", 1) will be recognized when you say "attack that position". 4 to 6 - full phrase, where 4 is the fastest. In this case the program will wait a moment to make sure you finished the sentence. Default value is 2.
  2. Neat, but it's not what I'm aiming for. Once you trigger a command, the game still goes through the menus. I want commands to be issued instantly.
  3. I have an idea for an addon that would allow binding keys to certain commadns. This should speed up giving orders by avoiding digging though the menu and also shouold make it easier to use voice recognition software for commanding units. I'm using GlovePIE which has fast and accurate speech recognition, but most of misinterpreted commands are caused by already 'being somewhere' in the menu while triggering a command action. For example: ALT+1 = <selected units> return to formation. Basically I want to "emulate" the player issuing an order, which means I want at least radio confirmation from AI unit on received command. There are scripting functions like commandMove, commandTarget, etc., but if I wanted to use them, I'd end up practically rewriting the whole commanding system, and this is not worth the effort. Any ideas where I should start? Maybe some modifications to currently existing config/scripts would be enough?
  4. I never used Vista, just read somewhere it didn't work, so I assumed it was common for 64bit systems. Never the less, Pilfius definitely doesn't work on Win7.
  5. Back in my XP times I was using Pilfius for speech recognition, unfortunately it doesn't work on Win7 nor Vista, so I had to find an alternative. I tried Shoot, VAC and Windows Speech Macros, but these weren't satisfactory. And then I bumped on GlovePIE, a really neat tool. So far it has the best accuracy and the fastest recognition out of the programs I tried. Just thought, I'd share.     PiLfIuS profile for ArmA2

    I switched to Win7 finally and also had to find an alternative to Pilfius. I think VAC is a good choice, even though it's not free. There's already a good profile for Arma2 on the VAC website, but i was too used to my old commands, so I created a new profile from scratch instead. It's based on my old Pilfius profile and has exactly the same set of commands, although extended for more flexibility. In most cases you can give a single order in multiple ways, for example ordering AI to take driver/pilot position in your vehicle can be done by saying: get in as driver get in as pilot driver get in pilot get in you're driver you are driver you're pilot you are pilot driver pilot take the wheel you're driving http://soundscapes.cozywebhost.com/stuff/arma2_vac.zip

    I'm using Saitek Cyborg X. Cheap and does the job well, flying choopers is awesome. Annoying leds though.

    The performance hit with iZ3D driver is about 20 - 30%, doesn't really half the frame rate. It's because even if there are two views being shown, it's still the same amount of textures and the same objects. No more AI to calculate either. So if you're playing 3D in 1680x1050, it's pretty much the same performance as if you were playing 2D in 3360x1050 resolution.

    I'm on XP too, the driver works perfectly. That might be a problem, you have to connect the iZ3D monitor to two slots. Each panel works as a separate screen.

    If you set too high convergence, it can affect scoped weapons. But with the right separation/convergence settings there are no problems. Check the driver yourself in anaglyph mode, if you're interested. In 2D it works like just any other LCD. Nothing perfect, but not bad either. Colors are OK and the image is sharp.

    I have iZ3D monitor and played both Arma and Arma2 in 3D. The monitor has two polarized screens, one behind the other, and requires passive glasses when in stereo mode. The pros of this solution are full resolution, real colors, not tiresome for the eyes. It's still not perfect though and there's some ghosting present. Performance hit is heavy. While Arma still runs smooth on my machine, Arma2 becomes almost unplayable (unless I use medium-low settings). Anyway visually the effect is awesome, also you need to close one eye when using weapons sights ;) In combination with TrackIR and voice recognition software to command your team, it becomes so immersive, you practically feel like being out there.
