Hmm.. maybe its not working with new patches then :( sorry bout that. Then i you'll need to read Jman's guide i guess. Some time ago i used it. You need to place it in the same folder as you got your Arma2server.exe, and check the box for gamespy ip, try running it as simple as you can on the first try - no addons etc. and put a mission you know works for startup. Allso you might try to give it a different port than 2302 since i belive you are playing on the same machine as your serving from. try 2312 for example and check router so its open ports. Windows security will probably ask you to open for the program. And no.. you dont have to set up a game aswell. It can run by it self and you can view the log..it should pop up when its running. But as i said.. i havent used it for some time, so i have no idea if there are changes that might bug it or sommet.

Here is a tool for you :) Works fine for starters and lets you start server in different ways, just like you start your own game. If you want to make a dedi server you can allso have a look at Kelly's heroes for a How to Dedi server guide. Very usefull :) http://armaholic.com/page.php?id=6156 http://www.kellys-heroes.eu/files/tutorials/dedicated/

PBOs. Please forgive a noob question...
cri74 replied to ayjay's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
As i read it you are trying to change something in the Description.ext ? There is a program you can use to view files inside the PBO (missions files). Personally i use PBO viewer, you can allso pack and unpack PBO's with this program. Simply create a Edit folder on your desktop or location you think is handy, copy the PBO you want to extract to that location then use the PBO-viewer to unpack it. It wil create a new folder with all of the mission files inside that folder so its easy to keep track of where you got the files in the first place :) Open the Description file with example notepad, if you allready bound the files to open with another program, right click it and select notpad from the "open with" option. After you make changes to a mission file its kinda "code of conduct" to name it somewhere in the mission that you made changes to original material if its not your own creation. Then simply click the pack button and you got yourself a new PBO(mission file) with the edit you just made. You should allso name the edited PBO different than the original material so you dont send edited missions around with the original name of the PBO. Example if you edit a mission called Charlie 4, name it example Ajay_Charlie 4 or sommet. Copy it back to your MPmissions folder and play with friends or to your Missions folder to play it as singleplayer:) -
Arma 2 VERY slow with Win 7 64 bit!
cri74 replied to waterinthefuel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
May have a look in your Arma2.cfg too. Its located in ...Documents/Arma2 and should read something like this i guess. Sorry i got two of them stored since i had that problem and installed Arma2 on different drives to test out a few things. I noticed Arma2 sometimes change the adapter and 3D performance settings on crash or poweroff ingame. On CTD's Arma2 may still be running in the background(Arma2.exe) even though it does not show in your toolbar, where one or two(or more) are in background thus slowing the game you are playing, you will be able to see it in task manager. I was allso suspecting memory error so the settings are a bit different. or this I had the same problem and it was very noticable when W7 giving me more and more problems after updates. Updating Nvidia drivers and sound driver made it even worse, so was other drivers for network and chipset etc. It reached the point where i got BSOD's and i was unable to play the game. I found there was conflicts between Realtek drivers and Nvidia drivers causing this. I used a lot of time due to this problem trying to find a solution and its explained Here. Might help others with the same problems. As threadstarter said...it started with the game stuttering and load problems etc. After some time I just bought a ATI 5850 and everything solved. -
Your absolutly right. In all things we do, a challenge is allways encuraging :) But on topic. Im very fond of the visual of Arma2 and ofc the missions etc. I found a mission by Xeno named Operation MoonWalk and its really spectacular, he leaves out night vision and places the mission at night with moonphase. Full moon so you can see, but not as much as you could with nightvision on ofc. It gives a lot of spectacular explosions and really wonderfull views :) Used the date in Quesh Kibrul where there are less trees so it gives a great setting. Allso missions that are just before the sun comes up or goes down.. i love it :)

How can I find out why i keep crashing the game?
cri74 replied to victim913's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Nice-- you've find the cause of crash :) On another note - I found my realtek drivers and Nividia drivers dont work toghether in W7, so i switched to ATI which solved all my problems.. at least for now. Heres a reference in Sevenforums Maybe it can be to some help for other experiencing BSOD and problems unsolved due to harware conflicts and long hours trying to find a solution. -

Where can you play the game :) - Modders : Project Reality, ACE2, Vopsounds etc - More missions.. why is Warfare so popular?, maybe asking Benny ?
-
Got the time, got the will to make it happen. Wanting to create something for the community. Have a look Here And just for the record, its all made by the players.. there are nobody recieving payments for the work done at battle.no.. its all made by people like yourself :) Look here for more info - follow the links Lets hope someone is willing to make the servers.. after all.. its all free if you want it to be :)

I would say better to run atleast Arma2 in DvD or DL version - not steam in other words. Since there are so many addons and extras used in amra2, editing of files etc. Better to keep it simple and stupid (KISS). I would think by not using steam you spend less time used to find the files steam creates and searchin forums for a steam solution to your problems :)

Ace2 developers. More news about Operation Arrowhead too. +1 :)

Hmm.. thats Egypt ? I have very little knowledge of how the internet works in that country, but i would suggest to try a speedtest on one of the free sites on the web. Other than this i would suggest to close down all other programs using bandiwith even if they are small programs. If you are downloading torrents while playing it will kill the game pretty quick. Make sure no one else are using your router while playing, that way you can ensure its only the game using bandwith. This is often a problem if you have a wireless router with no password, giving anyone in your close area your resources for free. In other words there might be 10-20 other people using your bandwith and internet account. Since you have a very limited internet banwith all these suggestions will work i think. Connecting to a local server will allso improve your experience online. We had some players on TV2 connecting from the US (We are situated in Norway) having pings from 200 to 3-400.

Great initiative :) Just made a suggestion to the news writers on battle.no to make this head news. Looking forward to next episode.
