How about set in the year 2015. The run down, poor economy of America fighting to protect their land against the new super power, China from invading and taking over America. Would be a interesting twist on things.
-
I hope that there is otherwise that could be a lot of potential content missed out on :( Maybe now that it has been mentioned, if BIS were ever to make ArmA2 360 then they would arrange for user content to be added and hopefully wont charge for it.
-
Ok, I think you misunderstood me, I wasn't implying ArmA2 360 would be shallow and non challenging, I was saying that my experiences with other console games has been. Other then the god like GTA3, but that was built from the begin to be played on a console. My main concern regarding the 360 and ArmA2 is that any mods made by the community (which most are, judging by the pc community), wont be able to be used due to them being classified as unofficial data by Microsoft. Thus destroying one of the biggest advantages ArmA2 has over any other game.
-
I said nothing about pc's, care to explain what you mean? *Added* I would be interested to hear a mod or dev members point of view about the blacklisting of 360's for unofficial content and the effects it may have on Arma2 360.
-
Naturally I don't like consoles that much, I find most of the games sallow and non challenging. However this sounds like it could potentially destroy ArmA2 360 before it has even been launched :/ (or the community based mods).
-
Yea not knowing what is being said is rather annoying, one of my main reasons I don't play as opfor second being the RPG-7 not having a scope :/ but thats a different topic.
-
I saw a article a few days ago reporting that Microsoft has blacklisted a load of xbox360's due to modded information held on the device. I was just wondering if this would then cause a problem to any 360 users wanting to add mods to the Arma2? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8354166.stm On a side note, it's nice of Microsoft to just randomly scan all 360's for illegal/unofficial software and banning live accounts without prior notice.

That only happens when you respawn, I would guess that it is there, so your commander/group leader knows that you have respawned, without you telling them.

One thing I thought would be in Arma 2 was player collision. What I mean is if a player is standing with his back against the wall, he then wouldn't be able to lay down as there isn't enough room behind him. He would have to either move forward or turn to the left or right to be able to lay down, the best example of this is in CoD 4. Atm you can lay down right next to a building with your legs going through that building and your head sticking out (unless this is a bug?). *added* I also think the current cover system is fine, you have the ability to peak round corners and see the enemy before they see you, if you get spotted and pinned in cover that is your fault, you can always run back or wait for reinforcements. I don't use the 3rd person view unless flying copters, for picking up and dropping MHQ's and such. But mostly I try to play on servers where 3rd person is disabled as someone on here said it is cheat vision :)

The first part of my post I believe is relevant to the suggestion, maybe considered a bit too specific. However what I was saying, it would be nice to see some of the AI in missions not appreciating the liberation from the marines, as you see in modern day insurgencies. The second part of my post I will admit had nothing much to do with the topic at hand and I apologise for that.

M.O.U.T and mout are both correct in a WRITTEN FORMAT!, the fullstops in between each letter shows the reader that it is not a word or a misspelling. It is the same as USA > U.S.A .

Civilian AI throwing stones at armoured vehicles while the US insurgents drive through their villages would be awesome. Also we will be able to make re-enactments of Palestine and Israel conflicts, with the Palestine (Hamas) throwing stones at some Israeli buildings and then have the IDF come out too massacre a whole village.

Would you like to see a WW2 Eastern Front Mod?
Booga replied to =Spetsnaz='s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Because at the end of the day they lost, and no one wants to lose a game because of history :P However I would also like to play as ze Germans, I finally got to play as the British/Common Wealth in BF2's mod Forgotten Hope 2. So why not the Germans this time :) -
Haha, he might of clicked on "Official missions" by mistake, they are right next to each other. Anyhow I would like to but I already am a bt for some other games so don't really have the time :(
-
Yep using 2x 8800gts 320mb, latest drivers and never had a problem. Maybe its a lack of ram?
-
*bump* Glad I spent the time looking before suggestion this myself. I would also like to see sunglasses having a use to block out the sun. Same as night vision is used to see in the dark, sunglasses should help to see when its too bright.

lol, I have played operation flashpoint since release, due to lack of internet at the time I never joined the community. Once I had the internet (many years later), I had no reason to buy or join the arma community (No one I knew played it, I also lost my version on OPF for a while). Would It be too bold saying that it could be the BIS fanboys, that halt any "progression" with arma's features, as their scared that "their" game will be "destroyed". Instead of discussing ways it could be implemented you decide to flame the idea, suggesting it will break the game and you will have 300 new human size bunnies too kill. *Back to topic* One thing that annoys me currently with arma2 is when you run up to a fence and go to "jump" over it, your player stops for a moment as if to think about what he about to do. Clearly this is just cause of the change of animations, however it would be nice if when running and pressing "v" the player would do a leap, instead of stopping and doing a scissor jump?

1 suggestion about shadows and helicopters.
Booga replied to Kenjineering's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Not really fussed if the shadows on the heli look unreal, the effect of the blades cutting through the rays of sun as you stand next to it waiting to get in impressed me. Also shadows come in handy for spotting enemies round corners :) That what I tend to use them for anyway, as I would in RL. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Booga replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
@BigBear, Shame to hear that you cards died, but nice to hear you had a free awesome upgrade. However there is a big difference between the 8800GTX and the 8800GTS, the GTX uses the G92 chip which is a bit faster but struggles under heat, where as the GTS has the G80 chip and has been seen going past temps of 75C (168F). So I still say that the 8800GTS (S for Sparkle) is still one of the best Nividia cards on the market, lacking a bit in the memory department but I think there is a 640 version too :) @Ubascouser, If you haven't already, have a look at this thread. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73947 It definitely helped me setting up Arma 2 to run how it should on my pc. :) -
Just to confirm, you can hover over a player and press space to see there status, this is on all game modes and all difficulties, also you don't need to be a squad leader. Anyone can do it!. One thing to bare in mind tho, if a friendly gets into a enemy vehicle, it will still show a red name, however you will see the players name as well, thus you know a friendly is in it. If there is no player name on the vehicle then it is filled with enemies and kill it fast :) also if you see a vehicle name that is grey that means no one is in it and you may be able to steal it :)

Booga replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
No, talk about BS, I have 2x 8800 GTS and they run arma 2 fine with high/normal settings, also the old 8800 Ultra is still kicking, in fact dare I say the 8800 is a bench mark card and will with stand the sands of time for another few years, yes I do. Buy the 200 series if you want to just waste your money on cards that don't have drives set up for them completely yet, or get 8 or 9 series if you want something a bit cheaper and that's been tested in the field and works. I will always buy what's just become "old" as its more likely to work then something that hasn't been tested in the real world yet. -
No its not. go have a look on this forum and Armaholics forum for some advice on how to get it to run smoother. I have a Q6600 and 2x 8800 320mb and if I can run it on normal/high setting after a week of tweaking, I'm sure you can too. Also buying the new and oh so awesome 200 series will only give you more headaches trying to play arma2 and bankrupt you. In other words look at arma 2 forums troubleshooting sections and you should find a fix. Good luck!

Don't hold me to this, but I think the only way you can remove 1.02 after installing it is by either installing patch 1.02 58134 (the new one), which you have said your having problems doing. So the only other way I know of is by un-installing the whole game and then patch to 1.02 58134. BUT! you may want to wait and see if anyone else has any suggestions :)

Movement is so sluggish in all BIS games, WHY?
Booga replied to Dreepa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
One thing that bugs me WRT movement is sometimes the complete stop to crouch or to go prone, it just doesn't feel that real to me. I would like to see it replaced with how AA3 (America's Army 3) goes from running to crouching/ going prone, instead of stopping then laying down, in AA3 the player if running when prone is pressed will dive to teh floor while moving, the same is with crouching. The video shows better then I can describe :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGS3uxIfQ6U
